The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

One thing I'm going to order sharpish is a Lensmate thumb grip, the camera feels unbalanced without one.

Or maybe not so sharpish, it seems it's not been released yet :(

My pre order will arrive next week :( . I've purchased and drunk two bottle of red  I feel better about things now
I like it, but you're gonna feel like sh1t in the morning, hungover and days until T2 day, better buy more wine :hungover:

Is anyone having any issues using the old battery in their xt2?

The old battery does not work in the body of the XT2, the Angry Photographer did a video about it as he was having lockups.

I think he did one later saying the old batteries work in the grip but not in the body but you'll have to check.

I'll have to disagree with the slimy, I mean angry photographer. I used an Ex Pro battery while my Fuji(s) were charging, no issues at all. Maybe in prolonged use there may be issues, but 20 or so shots and 1.5 minutes of 4K video without issues.

InB4 all the new X-T2 owners start filling the thread with their beautiful ACROS profile black and white's :) - a couple of non ACROS from the X-T10

Can't see why he would lie about something like that, a lot of peoplee dont like him but he generally doesn't make up stuff like that, he filmed the camera lockup... he posted in the explanation:

**THIS LOCKUP WAS DUE TO USING A X-T1 BATTERY IN THE X-T2 (As it turns out a “no no!”) SEE LINK BELOW FOR PICTURE AND EXPLANATION. NEVER USE THE X-T1 (NP-126) BATTERY IN THE MAIN CAMERA BODY OF THE X-T2, ONLY USE THE NP-126S”

He later did a video with a full explanation.

Regardless, he does seem very slimy. Let's not lose sight of what is important.

Further and finally. It might be the booze talking, but, I'm sure he could have made that video 30 seconds rather than 4 minutes. He is American right? in which case I'm tempted to sue him for that 210 seconds I just lost. It ain't coming back. Good night. See you next week xt2.

`still massively at odds between this and the Sony A6300. One question, do any of the Fuji Lenses have stabilisation? I shoot a lot of video and having the stabilisation ( or indeed the body stabilisation of the A72/R2) would be a massive plus when handheld.

* Scrap that, I've seen that there are indeed lots of them. still being a newbie, I wasn't sure what OIS stood for!

Anyway, anyone got any comparison thoughts between those two cameras?

Thanks man.

These both had a similar work flow - open up shadows, dropped the highlights, convert to B/W, set black and white points according to taste and adjust contrast. First one has more clarity applied as it suits the subject more, the landscape has a couple of gradient filters top and bottom. Both have some radial filters to adjust exposure at certain points - lots of ideas I picked up from Serge Ramelli's Ansel Adams youtube series - well worth a watch if you like this style of image :)

Was just about to "Let me Google that for you" ;)

You know, I work for a tech company and the amount of times I tell people to Google something when they wanna know the answer......I think like anything in life you just wanna get involved so just ask stupid questions! Haha.

My second question still stands though if anyone has any thoughts. Whatever I go for I'll be all in so it's gotta be the right choice.

I've no experience of Sony but I was a lifelong Canon user and I was so impressed with the Fuji X system I sold all my Canon gear FF and APS-C, lenses, the whole kit and caboodle and went 100% Fuji. Worked for me.

Thanks man.

Hum I see, I'm going to watch those videos

In the meantime I'm going to look for the xt10 or xt1 as I have been looking the past weeks

I have been trying lately to keep the same workflow in my photos but it has proved to be difficult specially because of the white balance.

Do you shoot raw ? Cause you mentioned that that picture was monochrome from the camera ...

Cheers

Oh, forgot to mention - I got my white balance back - turns out my bedroom radiator is the ideal target! Hope it works with the T2!

Congrats to those getting their X-T2's! :)

The release of the X-T2, makes the X-T1 a great deal IMO. No doubt the X-T2 has some serious tech but the X-T1/10 is a great camera.
I miss my GS X-T1 :( Looks way better than the black version.

Well it seems that Fuji can't keep up with the XT2 pre orders. Bad news if you are waiting, good news for Fuji [emoji3]

Message for @Alan Clogwyn ...
In among all the film gear you are getting rid of do you have one of the old shutter releases that screws into the shutter button?
The X-T2 has the ability to use one and I'd like to try it out.

With the X-T10 i've been shooting RAW+JPEG because I love the JPEG's the X-Trans produces, but those conversions are from the RAW file. I've not tried a mono JPEG straight out of the camera yet, although for those that have it seems that mono+R is a favourite setting.

I can strongly recommend the X-T10, I love it

I love the xt10. My only issue is I find the area around the eye piece digs into my face a little uncomfortably when looking through the viewfinder.

The xt20 will be a bit special too I imagine

I've just emailed Fuji to clarify if the X-T1 batteries are compatible with the X-T2. I've also asked if you can use two different speed memory cards at the same time. And if the faster card will be slowed down to that of the slower card. I'll let you know what their reply is.

I do, PM me your address and it's yours. I'll cobble a button up for it since it fell off ages ago, shouldn't take me a moment.

My X-T2 has arrived, and my first impression on taking it out of the box is just how tiny it feels compared to the X-Pro2! It feels really well-built and the dials are very positive - not at all easy to accidentally turn. Not put a battery or lens on it yet - still savouring the moment! (At my age you learn to extract the maximum enjoyment out of every action)
