The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Got a reply from Jessops. Xt2 is in stock but they haven't posted it as they needed to confirm my card details. A little odd as this info was provided when I pre ordered. So if anyone has ordered through Jessops give them a call and makes sure they have your details. Cameras are in stock.

Does anyone know if it's possible to set the spot metering to meter off the active focus point as opposed to the centre of the frame?

Providing you are not using an old firmware, go to shooting menu 5 and set - "interlock spot AE & focus area" to on.

I'm now the proud owner of an X-T2, surprisingly Jessops had it waiting for me ! I had a brief peek at it in the car, unfortunately I'm in work until 3 so it's staying in the car until I get home. I've 2 batteries sitting charged at home ready to go :D

I feel like Fuji is messing with me. I'm at work with nothing to do, yet, I have no camera...

Just received the call from Ffordes that I've been allocated one of the cameras. I thought I might not make this batch. And despite my misgivings I've decided to get the grip as well. With all the discounts, rebates, and credit I hold with Ffordes I thought it rude not to! Should arrive tomorrow by Royal Mail. Going away on Saturday so it will get a good try-out.

I couldn't resist so I popped out to the car to have a quick look, everything seems fine, except the power lead for the Booster grip only comes with a European 2 pin lead ?? Seems very strange.

Good news. Bad news.
Bad news is that existing l brackets from the X-T1 will not fit the X-T2. This is mainly because the fixing hole has been moved.
Good news is that a short Arca plate can be bolted on and will still allow full access to the battery door. We'll just have to wait for the guys in China to come up with their cheapo copies. That won't be long I suspect!

If the hole in the bracket is re-drilled, would it fit then or is the extra width of the X-T2 going to be an issue, I'm not concerned about the grip part, just the L-bracket

It's not that simple I'm afraid.
Yes if you were careful you could re-drill the hole. But you have the Sunway photo bracket like I do, and there is a lip on the back edge opposite the handle. This prevents the bigger body sitting on the plate. You could grind/file this down and then the bottom plate would fit. But the body is also a few mm longer so the upright portion cannot be bolted on properly. Also the side door is too big to open through the hole.
In summary with a bit of work you could use just the bottom plate. You can't have a functioning L bracket just yet.
Just stick a short bracket on ftb; I have a spare if you need one.

I got a phone call from them last night looking for payment details. He explained that they're only allowed to hold bank details for up to 28days and then they need to delete them. He then explained I had pre-ordered mine over a month ago which is correct. So if you pre-ordered over a month ago then this'll be the reason.

I got mine today. Coming from Canon I am super excited and it's definitely been an excellent move for me. It's a little belter. I got the grip too which is currently being used to charge the two spare batteries I bought as well. I had a quick play around with it on my lunch hour as I'm in work :( but so far I'm very impressed.

I knew I should have stayed away from this thread today! Seem to be picking up a mild dose of GAS. I've spent the last half hour doing sums!

Would need to take a hit on my X-Pro2 to justify buying the T2 and then I'd be losing the corner viewfinder which I do much prefer.
On the other hand I'd be gaining the bigger EVF again and I rarely use the OVF on the Pro2.
I'd also be gaining a flippy screen which I have missed on a few occasions (my reason for re-acquiring an X-T1 a few weeks ago)

:runaway::runaway::runaway:

This threads going mental with new T2 purchases........!

I went for the grip too. Just had the text from Jessops to confirm delivery for tomorrow. Just in time to come along on holiday with me on Saturday :)

Wilkinson Cameras in Southport. They have other stores in N.W. England.
What's Wilkinsons like nowadays? I remember them being in Wigan in the 60s. They will be the nearest camera shop to me (Lancaster branch) when we move to Settle in November.
