The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

IIRC the detail slider has to be 100, not just high in order to get the effect, since at 100 it uses a completely different method than at 99.
Either way, I like what you're doing with the x-t10 so far, those car shots were awesome!

Thanks man, I genuinely don't think I would have been able to get those shots with that quality from my old Nikon kit.

This thread is becoming my heaven as there is talk of the X-T2 and Guitars. I have 15 of those but no X series camera yet! waiting for some good reviews from the usual characters before I decide between that and the Sony A6300. On paper they are quite even but the Sony may still have the edge for me as I do also wanna get one of their full frame A series cameras down the line and buying the FF lenses to use on both cameras seems sensible!

Don't get me started on guitars Adam, I was raised in "Nashville", need I say more? :D:D

George.

Don't worry, it does get better, my three are in their late twenties and never contact me......ever........bliss.
I was just about to comment saying, Don't worry, it does get better, my little one has almost ten months and has just started sleeping through.
A slightly more imminent (if perhaps far less guaranteed) cause for optimism!

My girl is 18th months and doesn't sleep through. Yawn

18 month regression is a killer. Thought I was passed the sleepless nights when my son started sleeping through at just over a year old (albeit he's up before 6am every day).

Now he's gone back to waking through the night and wailing until I go get him. Like having a baby again

Wait 'til they grow up, mines 27 and still the most expensive "luxury" we have. Mind you, wouldn't change him for the world.....

Has anyone compared the 2 versions of the 56mm f1.2?

I haven't personally compared but have read quite a bit on them, general consensus always seems to be that the standard "non-APD" one is more than fine.... and having used it I can confirm its reputation is well merited!

I compared both and bought the vanilla version, I struggled to see much improvement in the rendering with the APD version and certainly not enough to outweigh the extra cost, slight drop in light-gathering and what I felt was slower AF (I might have imagined that part).

To echo chris above, the 56 is a stunning bit of glass in either incarnation, enjoy!

I'm really loving my XF56mm f1.2 (standard version), I've only had it a few weeks now and am astounded from what it produces image wise, I've still a lot to learn from it.
I owned one before a few years ago when I first ventured into the X system and didn't give it enough time to explore it properly.

You live and learn.

I've the XF10-24/4 lens, I'm looking to buy either the XF14 or the XF18 in the near future, just wondering if this is overkill and not needed as I already have the 10-24.

Anyone else have a Fuji XF wide zoom and prime for their photography requirements ?

I have both Peter but I've got the 14 because it's good for infra red and I have a XE-1 converted to infa red.
The 14mm is better than the 10-24 but not by much. If I want to travel light I will take the 14mm instead of the 10-24. Unless you want a lighter option I can't see the point of having a both.

I too have both. The 14mm is useful if you want to go light but wide. The 10-24 frustrates me because it doesn't have f stops marked on the aperture ring despite it having a fixed maximum.

I llike the 10-24mm some say it's heavy but I find it's very well balanced on X-T's and X Pro's. The OIS is very good too. Primes definitely have the edge but when I;m out and about I find carrying a bag a pain, therefore I prefer zooms.

I paid about £350 for a mint one on here I think - nearer to £400 on eBay

I have the 14mm and my daughter has the 10-24mm and 18mm, we share gear and have to say I end up borrowing the zoom nine times out of ten. So yes I reckon it would be overkill, 14mm is very slightly better, but the ois more than counters the difference.

Only keep the 14mm in case we go out together for something like night sky or landscapes

Not keen on the 18mm though and prefer the 18-55mm at the wide end especially as it has the bonus of ois.

Nearly forgot I also have a Samyang 8mm fisheye, so got the wide aspect quite well covered between us

Did anyone pre order the t2 via Jessops?
Wondering if you have received a dispatch email?

I've not..

Worryingly Jessops just advised they currently don't have a date for it coming into stock

This is why I was very wary of ordering from them...I went with Wex although it's all quiet from them at the moment. They were a few days behind with my pre ordered A7R though too.

I rang Jessops this morning, I was told they have some coming in tomorrow and as I pre-ordered beginning of August I should be one of the first to get it, so I'm calling tomorrow to see if this is the case. Going by my recent experience of Jessops I don't have a high level of expectation though.
