The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Hi Guys,

I have a question i would like help with please.

I have an Olympus OM-D 5mkii, can i use my Oly lenses on a fuji XT10 or XT1 with the right adapter, if so which adapter would i need?

Cheers

Andy
A definite No. But you can use Olympus OM lenses with an adapter.

Yes, he's definitely marmite!

Aye, but i like Marmite ;)

I tried watching a couple more vids, but he just continued to bad mouth other YouTube channels and just rattled on about how hes a real shooter - no idea how when he obviously just posts on YouTube all day....

...and another vid review, lots of sample shots, only halfway through but just started on about AF at around 3:40s

There's a difference. I like marmite. I don't want to slap marmite around the head. He's enough to put me off Fuji.

Finger slipped, X-T2 pre ordered. X-E1 infra red camera up for grabs shortly.

:plus1: Snap!!! looks like I'll have to buy @mickledore a pint now

Managed to get a cancelled pre-order allocated, looks like the X-T1 will be going (going to keep the X-E2 as backup body, and the X-E1 IR - thought I might sell the latter but used it last weekend and pleased with the results)

Where are you getting it from?

^^^ Thanks Peter, despite the huge crowds I managed to get a few shots i'm very happy with and for a first "proper" outing (albeit with wife and baby in tow), i'm very much enjoying the system. Really looking forward to getting out specifically for the purpose of taking pics and having more time to compose or wait for the right situation for the shot instead of having to snatch something as I can feel wifey's eyes burning into the back of my head :)

another few from today...

After several years in photography, i'm still waiting for such an opportunity... [emoji16]

I'm still not buying an X-T2 until there's a silver one. Dammit Fuji, satisfy the hipsters!

P.s. Bought a guitar. Mid-life meltdown.

I expect a higher priced graphite silver one to launch alongside a firmware update for the t2.

I love the results from my Xe1, but the evf is far too small for me to use comfortably and the differences in button layout between it and the xt1 drive me insane when I'm out with both cameras! I'm having the t1 converted now instead, but it will be 720nm I think rather than 590.

Apart from weather sealing and slightly smaller, has anyone compared the newer XF23/2 against the XF23/1.4 ?

Just curious . . . .

I found this comparison online, https://ivanjoshualoh.com/2016/08/25/23mm-vs-23mm-sibling-rivalry/ no "real world" reviews yet as its not for sale yet!
Seems broadly similar to the comparison with the 35 f1.4/f2 though - smaller size, WR and faster AF but slower aperture and maybe not quite as good IQ, personally I'll be keeping my 23 f1.4 its one of my favourite lenses

Having spent quite a time shooting with X-E1 and X-E2, I can manage the layout change, I set the buttons up around the OK to be the same on both X-T1 and X-E1/2 which helps a lot. Just the ISO is different control. My -X-E1 is 830nm, I bought it s/h, if I was getting one converted I'd go for 720nm as well.

I'm not going to buy a guitar. Can't play one. Mind you, bought a camera and I can't take photos ...

October 2016 edition of "Pratical Photography" magazine is in stores and has a review of the XT2. Just had a read up of it and it's pretty much covered all that has been previously mentioned. It gets a god wrote up, at the price they have only given it 4/5 for value and features however it's scored 5/5 for build and results with an overall 5/5 score. It comes highly recommended and gets an "highly rated" award/badge to boot. All is look positive for those who have preordered.

At £1400 I would be surprised if any APS-C sensor based camera was 5 star value for money :)

That guy can be such an arse. Not read it but I seem to think he ripped into it with his usual close minded arrogance.

"This Fuji X-system is the first serious system designed from the ground-up as digital camera system with no ties whatsoever to film." No it wasn't, not by a long shot!

and
"I prefer a small DSLR like the Nikon D3300 or Canon SL1 to this X-T2, and each weighs and costs less. They don't feel as nice in-hand because they're plastic, but they work at least as well and their images are even better for nature and landscape due to their snappier color rendition"

You'll pay top money if you wait for the latest tech - if you wait further until the bugs are sorted and the prices reduce, then the next generation will be on its way and you'll have to wait for that. You might as well pitch in now and upgrade when the next gen is at the stage the present gen is now.

^^^ I wondered about that too, but I love the files that the x-transII produces and I know a lot of people who are going back to it in various versions because of that. The Acros film sim does look very interesting in the new sensor camera, with the way it handles grain etc, but I figure i'll go x-t10 now and get into the system and give it a year for the bugs to be tweaked out of the new stuff (never like being an early adopter of tech) then upgrade at a later date if i feel it's worth it for more mp's and the acros simulation (I very rarely print bigger than A4 or the occasional medium size canvas so the extra mp's are not really a priority for me).

And no doubt you'll wait for the X-T3 and X-T4..... you have been dithering for a long time now, every day you don't have a Fuji, you're not shooting with the Fuji experience:)

Guys I have a problem lol i like to wait and then i dont buy it! dunno how to help it.

I can make a noise with my guitars. I can make pictures with my cameras. I'm happy enough at that, and as long as I don't subject anyone else to listening or viewing everyone's happyish :)

Turns out I can still make a noise with a guitar too! Problem is, GAS has kicked in and I've now got an Orange amp on the way as well. I've basically got a house full of Fuji stuff, guitars and kids.
