The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Second time I have had that in Park recently, just unlucky timing!

Just wanted to see what it felt like in hand and the EVF in lower light. Might have to try Jessops lol!

What a pain in the arse! I went to park cameras today to check out the handling of the X-T1 and there it was in the glass cabinet.... would anyone help me...NO!

One guy was then free and we went to ask him and he said sorry can't I'm going for lunch...

So had a go on the A7II which seemed ok, EVF seemed average though.... but maybe that's because I was used to the D750.

50mins later I walked out thinking no better off!
Where are you based?
You must be near someone who posts on here.
We're generally law abiding bunch. Just holler. Someone will let you play with theirs.

I will be honest Ive hardly used the 56mm and was going to sell it but after today no way most photos were cropped quite a lot but they have still come out quite sharp

Yikes, number 1 is a belter! Love that!

I always figured 56mm would be too tight, I rarely venture past 35mm unless I'm going extreme telephoto.
The only reason I considered one in the past was because it's such a gorgeous looking lump.

Loving the war weekend shots. Such a glamorous era, at least from these pics.

Thanks Martin I like it as its a good opportunity for photos and the people who dress up are accommodating. You always though unfortunately get the odd idiot photographer like today, 4 of us were taking a photo of a lady and this bloke just goes right up to her face about a foot away with his Nikon DSLR. Was funny because 3 of us all at the same time said you always get one!! I'm always polite and you always get more back from the people involved, manners cost nothing.

Absolutely - good manners and a little courtesy costs nothing eh? Do you offer to share your photos too? I'm sure many would love to see them and hey, it might get you some good contacts.

Using the 10-24mm, I had it at10mm for that shot Ian.

Cheers. I had a look on your flickr page but couldn't see the EXIF data.

I figured it was at the wide end but wasn't sure specifically. How do you find the 10-24?

Not sure I'm cut out for this macro lark. 2 hours and 146 shots yesterday. 2 hours and 117 shots today and this is the best I can get. Body is just about in focus but even if you could see it's head it wouldn't be sharp.

Better off adding EXIF, easier to help then.

f1 is what EXIF says, if you believe that. Think it was f16. 1/40 ISO 400.
Had f16 to get some DOF. Could have upped ISO more but didn't want to risk noise.
Lens is a Vivitar 50mm macro.
Hand held so backwards and forwards to get focus. Tried tripod and slide rail but that's just too awkward for words.
Wind blowing a hooley, as ever round here.

1/40 is way to slow to handhold @ 75mm equiv, especially macro. Minimum should be something like 1/125. Try also use your flash to keep the SS up and ISO down (I'm guessing the little flash syncs at 1/180?), diffuse it with some tissue paper or something.

Yeah. Thought it would be too slow. You say flash. On or off camera? Is flash almost compulsory for this type of work? Sun is almost too bright at present hence the non flash attempt.
Yes, max is 180.

For stuff that moves you almost always need a flash to give you the extra speed to freeze the action.

Either, better if you have off camera but even on camera is better than none, off camera is generally more powerful so you can stop it down all the way and use max sync at base ISO.

I've had acceptable results shooting close up on the XT1 using the bundled pop up flash with a sheet of paper held in front of it as a diffuser, though makes for a handful!

I've got a cheapo (£2) flash bracket that will hold a Nissin i40 flash.
Been playing with that. A bit better, with the accent on the "bit".

Been working through some pics from the Llangollen Railway Gala I attended last month as I'd missed a few from my uploads to Flickr for some reason. Revisited a couple with slightly more aggressive processing :

This I couldn't get a finish I liked 1st time round, I think this is getting there though:

Alan,

Very much so. A timeless image of God's Wonderful Railway in all it's glory!

So Jessops had an X-T1 which I had a long go with today. Nice little camera, but still not sure what to do!!

D750 off for repair with no due back date as parts in high demand because of earthquake.

Was thinking of running alongside for a bit to see how it goes but wedding I am doing is coming up and D750 not looking like it will be back so was thinking of using the Fuji.

The main thing that worries me is the EVF and low light pics in say the church.

As I am more documentary than posing when it comes to photos the Fuji sort of makes sense but it's an unknown quantity!

I came from Nikon to Fuji, and one of my favourite lenses was the Sigma 10-20mm, I know it is expensive, but couldn't be without it. I think it is about 16-35mm FF equivalent, but I find it so versatile, and max aperture of F4 doesn't hinder it's use.

What lenses do you use?
