The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Amazingly, I've ad around 15 Helios 44 lenses and none of them had fungus! Possibly because they're built like tanks :D However, they often come with most of the front coating "cleaned" off :(

P.s. That is a pretty shocking listing. Hopefully they actually sent you the wrong lens rather than being that negligent..
He only had one helios for sale 897 transactions and 100% feedback

Thanks. It's a bit more arty farty than I normally do so am not best placed to appreciate it.

Andy, this is mine:

The guy's description was spot on. If you check his other items he has several more for sale, including a 44m-5 MC version which I almost bought myself:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MC-HELIOS...fect-Soviet-Biotar-Lens-PERFECT-/112004620795

and a more expensive later 44m-6 MC which looks perfect and comes with everything:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1991-MC-H...-Lens-M42-or-NIKON-AI-Mount-EXC-/112006961506

One of those ought to see you right.

BTW, they're all 44s. Yours was a 44-2. Mine is a 44m-4. The "m" stands for "macro". The higher the third figure the later versions they are. They go up to 7.
That 44 5 isn't available anymore duncan [emoji3]

No. No. No.
I'm having enough trouble coming to terms with the Vivitar. Can handle the lens but find it damned hard work getting a decent shot with it.
How do you get shots in the garden? It's so dammed windy here - less than half a mile from the sea - that nothing ever stays still long enough.
Then there's the creepies. How does any one shoot them?

I'm almost at the stage of watching for a "Wanted" thread!!!

Mate, stay on the macro forum. I'm still learning myself. It takes loads of patience and dedication and every day I see folks posting stuff that blows me away. Watch out for @Tintin124 @GardenersHelper @Paul Iddon @Tintin124 @Chris A et al. Oh and @mattd85! I've slighted at least 5 by missing them out but they know who they are.

Intrigued by the use of vintage lenses. Is there a recommended brand or model of adaptor for my X-T1 for M42?

Well the ebay seller has replied he's sorry I am not satisfied with the lens and will reimburse me for postage as well That's good of him lol. Hope he's not putting it back up for sale.

I've ordered the K and F concept from Amazon. It does come from China but I already have the pentax version and it was pretty well built.

Whatever you buy will have been made in China, and most are of similar quality whatever name is printed on it. I liked my Metabones, the quality was no better but the design was.

Not sure if I have the patience to spend half an hour of more just getting reject shots. It's soul destroying. Then doing the same thing tomorrow, and the day after.

For day to day shooting there's not a lot of difference, it is sharper and bettter contrast IMO but the lack of OIS can cause slower shutter speed shots to look soft. The constant aperture is good as is the extra at the wide end, but on the minus it is a lump of a lens,

If you're a competent photographer then you shouldn't need OIS at 16-55mm! Fuji obviously agree!

It is what it is, mate. I sometime take 200 shots to get 4 keepers.

I gave up shooting macro a long time ago, no where near enough patience here! Luckily my Zeiss Makro-Planar 100/2.8 is also pretty good at portraits :D

Hmm. Yes. My thoughts exactly.
Plan is to have a decent bash this week but I'm starting from a low level. I fancied having a go to capture all the moths and things that were congregating round our outside light. Even they have disappeared!

I've got some files and ants you can have FOC. You'll have to drive to the south coast to collect though.

Listen, obviously you have to be a stunning photographer so..:troll::D

I can photograph files. They are easy. Half round are my favourite.
As for ants....we are on sand here so have millions of the things. They only stop moving when I hit them. That doesn't make a good photo.

294g without the caps for mine. The X-T10 (didn't weigh but going by the book) should only be 381g and I'm sure the adaptor will add another 10-20g.
So I was bored and thought I'd weigh the Helios and adaptor against the X-T10 body. My scales might not be that accurate, but the lens and adaptor came in at 359g whilst the body alone measured 373g.

That's right, there's only 14 grams in it! [emoji102]

Well, I've just joined the ever growing band of Helios-44M owners. The guy also had a Pentacon 1.8/50 so grabbed that as well. Been away for a few days and it was waiting for me when I got home, as well as the adapter, so not had time to play yet. Will be having a read back through this thread for tips.

b****r. Just realised wifey has gone out and left me with two toddlers and no beer. Looks like I'll be cracking the port open then :o Or the champagne, who put that there?
Wonder what they'd be like mixed together [emoji51]

Actually its to do with keeping the size manageable, don't need ois, but it certainly helps a lot of the time. Bit like not needing power steering on a car, but its nice to have and nothing to do with competence
