The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

LOL! I would never have known but read up on them before buying mine. :D
I'm sure they all at a minimum distance of around or in some cases just under 0.5m which should be pretty darn close given the FL.

Been doing more reading up (pentax forums this time) and apparently the "44m" is the heaviest of the bunch so yours may well be a bit lighter. I think mine is probably around the same weight as my X-T10 [emoji23]

Interesting. Try weighing yours without the adapter. I'll do the same and post back in a min.

288 grams for my 44m without caps

Jupiter 8 = 118 grams

and I just found a Tessar 2.8/50 carl zeiss jena DDR which is in the middle at 166 grams.

So can anyone beat 288 grams?

294g without the caps for mine. The X-T10 (didn't weigh but going by the book) should only be 381g and I'm sure the adaptor will add another 10-20g.

Beaten already! before I'd even posted! How much dust is inside yours?!?! because it's the same model as mine

Looks spotless so I'll assume a calibration error with one of our sets of scales [emoji23]

Interesting. Yours is the very first version so they must have gotten lighter over the years. Mine feels very solid, indeed and the focus ring glides beautifully; just right. Not to tight, not too lose and very smooth. Really nice lens!

Indeed. Operationally it's spot on but it's some weight.

At least I know I can use it to fend off any scallywags who may try to steal my camera haha.

That's one of the pages I read when choosing mine. Useful stuff but gave me a headache.
Indeed. Sometimes you just want it simplified a bit.

The pentax forums are good as well and there's a thread or two over on the Fuji x Forums as well.

Hey, once I'd made my decision and ordered mine I chose to release those pages like doves, never to be seen again. :D

LOL! After the last spate of posts he had me on the edge of the cliff staring into the abyss. The last post pushed me in. :D Sure is illogically normal in here again, though, so all good.

I think he ended up with more ignores than a jehova witness

Well the Helios arrived today but it's going straight back as the description was nothing like what arrived.

I've sent him an email awaiting his reply was £29 as the pictures he took and the description he gave sounded ok. Might just go for a 44 now instead of 42 after seeing your photos. Need to look at eBay.

Andy, this is mine:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111981279487

The guy's description was spot on. If you check his other items he has several more for sale, including a 44m-5 MC version which I almost bought myself:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MC-HELIOS...fect-Soviet-Biotar-Lens-PERFECT-/112004620795

and a more expensive later 44m-6 MC which looks perfect and comes with everything:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1991-MC-H...-Lens-M42-or-NIKON-AI-Mount-EXC-/112006961506

One of those ought to see you right.

BTW, they're all 44s. Yours was a 44-2. Mine is a 44m-4. The "m" stands for "macro". The higher the third figure the later versions they are. They go up to 7.

You don't want to put that anywhere near your other lenses, with that fungus. It spreads.

Amazingly, I've ad around 15 Helios 44 lenses and none of them had fungus! Possibly because they're built like tanks :D However, they often come with most of the front coating "cleaned" off :(

P.s. That is a pretty shocking listing. Hopefully they actually sent you the wrong lens rather than being that negligent..

Thanks Duncan will check that out. I've just been messing around in the garden with some old pentax glass I've had for a while. They look good on the screen will put them on the PC and have a look later.

Just seen your lens, Andrew. Wow that's bad, particularly given the description.

Glad you can at least return the thing.
