The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Nope, I know it will not be, but just wondering how it copes as 'might' have both!

Just check what other people are doing as to wether its suitable, Ive seen people shoot entire weddings with them so I guess the camera can do it, however, it depends on how much you rely on fast paced low light AF. Without trying one you wont know how well it performs for your own requirements.

Well, I wish I could test but my D750 may be some time :banghead:

That shouldnt effect your choice of XT1 though should it?

True- but would be nice to take them both to the venue before hand and try them side by side.

Side by side the D750 is better in low light, I used both alongside briefly but currently run an XT1 and D700. Mirrorless isnt as fast as a good DSLR, especially with continuous AF. Side by side you will notice a difference with moving subjects in poorer light and to a lesser extent static subjects.

Dont expect the XT1 to be as good as the D750 in anything but spot focus in decent light in terms of AF or you will be sorely disappointed, it can CAF pretty well in but again in decent light. Completely different cameras. Try before you buy, even if you dont have your D750 you should know how it performs and can then decide if the Xt1 is good enough.

D750 repair date is being delayed by parts - this might be quite a long wait. Most places now showing August as getting new stock.... bloody hell!

Buy an XT1 online or try it in a shop. See how you get on.

Give Nikon a call, say you have a wedding to shoot and ask for a new one if they can't fix it by then.

X-T1 af speed depends on lens, but there are tricks as well to make it faster. If you use the central 9 PDAF points and focus on something with a vertical line then it can be pretty damn quick. Low light with nothing to lock onto it can be slow or miss focus. If you are worried about it and have no chance to practice beforehand then stick with DSLR.

There seems to be no new ones about, the earthquake has hit Nikons supplies quite hard!

My mate is getting a 6D which I can borrow if things dont improve anytime soon!

Its really quite simple, tell Nikon yours needs repairing sharpish, tell them theres no UK stock, tell them youll just import if they cant do anything about it.

Those who have the 23mm where did you buy from. Cheapest I can see is Panamoz at £510.

I bought a UK one, using the Fuji Cashback deal at the time. Camera Solutions in Chester had a minty s/h one (c/w 6 months warranty) at about £460 a couple of weeks ago, don't know if they still have it.

So my cheapo eBay grip arrived today... Needless to say it's going straight back. [emoji35]

Cheap for a reason!!

Goign to leave a nice message for the seller? :p

Does anyone use their XT1 for action shots? I do alot of mountain biking... and thought if its sunny at the weekend I would do some test shooting at the local trails.
I have the 16mm, the 18-135mm and hopefully a 35mmF1.4 ... Thinking just flick to C, dial up a fast shutter and shoot at the desired focal on the 18-135?

Have fairly good location picked... LINK

Single point / C / High performance / Mechanical shutter / CH.

I'd have a good play with the various focus modes before you go - Zone and Wide/Tracking. You may find these useful as well.

If you want to pan then you won't need a fast shutter speed, but the EVF will go black during panning (just like it goes black when taking any other photo!!)

Thanks both of you. Will report back if I manage it.
Should probably ask permission from the trail centre first... There will be some rules no doubt.
I still forget that the EVF blacks out... but I do need to play with C and focus modes, its been pretty much standard AF or MF for me.

I've just realised that Stewart over at Lenses for Hire stock the Fuji range. I may well have to test a lens or two before I buy...

Love this little camera, a few pics from our Jerusalem trip
