The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

I got the lens from E-bay and the adaptor from Amazon.
Would have been rude not to. Ordered one this morning, to be collected at Argos thus avoiding the need to explain it to the wife ;)

Just need an adaptor now. Looking forward to using it now!

Cheers

Ian

The last three look like period postcards, great work
Thanks :) Weather was terrible mind!

I agree with Mr Perceptive comments, I particularly like the one with the pit head gear, it has a very Cornish feel to it. :)

As to the weather what you saw is about normal for the North coast more often than not. It's due to the low pressure weather systems coming in off the Atlantic ;). It can also get like this when the weather is hot as the heat rising from the hills inland pulls in cooler moist air from the sea which produces fog when it hits the warmer air over the land.

Not a criticism, because as a native Cornishman I know how difficult place names can be, we tend to pronounce them, in some cases very, differently from how they are written and this is a case in point. We all call it Geever, but it's written name is Geevor.

Howdy All.

Had a mini outing in the Lakes this weekend. Took the 16mm and 18-135mm with my XT1.
Here are a few I came away with. More will be in a full thread soon.
My learning... the 16mm is amazing... but so is the 18-135 :).

Ended up £34.20 all in. Can't argue with that! Does yours stop down okay @feek?

Would love to have a go at Macro too. Is there a cheaper option to do this with the m42 or am I better off just getting a newer lens for this?

Which of the 3 metering pattern people using on the wheel?

All three to suit intended shot being taken.

I tend to shoot predominantly in multi and average with a small percentage of shots being spot metered.

Just found if you press focus assist button it works in play back as well- zooms in to the focus point, must read the manual one day:)

You can download a copy from Fuji to prepare yourself for the day.

It's a box. It does what boxes do.
I won't be fuss but if I sell on that what cause a prob people want box black box lol

People who are fussed will ask where its from. A box isnt going to add significant value to a used item, if it had no box that would make a slight difference. Thinking of selling up already lol?

Nooo lol

Am going be naughty 2 system for a while till I know for sure which to have or have 2 system all the time. She won't know shhhh

I really like the look of this lens over the 1.4. I'm gonna hold off and see if the 23mm f2 materialises before putting any cash (or should I say plastic) down.

I've been looking at this lens too. Worth reading as many reviews as possible. Apparently it suffers greatly from distortion which is corrected b y software oin camera for JPEGs.
RAW files on the other hand are not corrected and are quite bad allegedly.

Cheers for that. Everyone knows JPEGs are where it's at anyway [emoji14]

PS There isn't a massive difference in price between the 1.4 and the 2.0 now.

IIRC lightroom can correct the raws automatically, we have 3 PCs and a laptop and I am relegated to the chrome book.

Maybe it wouldn't be too difficult to set up some corrections in your raw processor of choice to make it a one click fix.

Yes it does distort even in jpeg, but no worse than I'm generally used to

Yes, I'll have to have a look at that. I'm pretty useless with Lightroom but fortunately I love Fuji JPEGs.

Nog - I love my Chromebook ;)

I have checked mine Ian and you can see the shutter blades move as you stop down. As to macro, I haven't looked into the options, but I'm sure more knowledgeable people can point you in the right direction.

It's corrected in RAW automatically in Lightroom, you don't need to do anything. In fact there's no way to see the original distorted image unless you use an alternative processor like Photo Ninja.

Thank you for pointing this out, my apologies! Must have been the wine last night :D

I didn't know that - thanks.
