The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Would love to have a look at some raw on my computer.

Had a very enjoyable day in London with Mickledore and robsea yesterday, had a wander from King's Cross to Canary Wharf and Greenwich and then onto St Paul's to finish the day.

Here's one of the Naval college;

That's very nice Rob, love the moody cloud formations, great composition, and well controlled exposure.(y)

FF quality is dependent on camera and very subjective statement.
You can print as large as you want, remember the 1st crop digital cameras printed billboard,
Such as the Nikon d1h etc
FF high iso changes with each new camera so FF is irrelevant
Dynamic range is sensor dependent and nothing to do with FF

Quality is subjective but without writing pages on what it means to us we're safe to go with the basic premise that given similar tech a larger format gives better quality than a smaller one if you go looking to see the difference.

Yes, you can print as large as you want but for equal output size a smaller format is going to be subject to more magnification and will suffer for it. What I said is generally true if you're looking at cameras with similar tech.

No, ISO is not irrelevent unless you are looking at good crop cameras of today and comparing them to much older tech ff cameras.

The tech decides the DR but it just so happens that the best MFT and APS-C cameras don't match the best FF cameras. It's not a coincidence but a consequence of the design and spec and given equal tech the bigger chip will perform better.

MFT and APS-C give good results but if you look at the output from cameras with similar tech the larger format will give you the "better" results should you push things to the point they become visible.

As the man said "Ye cannae change the laws of physics, captain."

Fujis DR on the x100 is better than say the Nikon D700.

It's about in camera processing and specific models not just FF vs crop etc
The Nikon isn't sota now but still thrashes the Fuji for higher ISO's.

Care to compare the Fuji X100 dr to newer ff camera such as my Sony A7?

Anyway. I still believe my basic point stands. Bigger formats are generally better... but the newer smaller ones are good as long as you don't push them too far :D

Yes I agree the d750 would thrashes the xt1 at higher ISO. But downloaded some raw earlier I would say 6400 is pretty god on the xt1

Think some folk should start going out and taking pictures rather than endlessly talking about how good their gear is/might be/never will be.

I agree with this sentiment. I've had my X30 for not even a week and have now made the decision (I think) to move on my Nikon gear in favour of an X-T10. The Fuji just feels so good in hand and the form factor means I'm not afraid to 'lug it about' or whip it out in public places.

In short, I enjoy taking photographs more with it regardless of perceived quality. Anyone fancy a D7100? :D

Yes the Fuji has a crop sensor but it's everything else that makes it an excellent performer and an enjoyable camera to use. Not many cameras are 'fun'.

You have all the manual controls, a very comfortable small camera and the excellent colour science in raw and jpg plus the lenses which really make the system. It's a well thought out package that doesn't cost a fortune. And those firmware updates!

A friend has an xt-10 and 18-55mm and gets stunning results almost thought of selling my x100s to get 1.

I've been looking at MPB to go 2nd hand, however they're coming in at £628 with the lens graded as (excellent; i.e. slight dust inside) whereas Panamoz are only £629 brand new with their 3 year warranty.

Think my Nikon gear will be in the classifieds soon.

They £635 in uk after claiming £50 cash back

I hadn't realised Digital Depot were a UK seller. Still more than Panamoz, just :D

Just I suppose least it uk stock etc then again some not bothered.

They're all the same as far as I can see, though I know that some are happy to pay a premium for UK stock. I think Panamoz get a pretty decent write up though as far as imports are concerned.

Yes, its a bricks and mortar place which has been going for eons.

Discount code 30T10 gets it down. But it ends today

It'll be up this week, Jonathan! ;)

Check the Fuji store and use code PAYPAL 12 and you'll get a discount. You should be able to pick up a cheap x-t10. The X-t1 prices should start falling now the X-t2 is soon to be announced.

As someone who has recently purchased and X-t1 and a few lenses I can tell you that it's an incredibly fun camera to use. The manual controls, the AMAZING evf and even the sound of the shutter add to the experience. Fun fun fun!

Oooh. Under £540 on the Fuji refurb store. Should I be worried about the refurb thing though?
