The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

On balance it is probably more acceptable for you to spam the thread with pictures than it is for @Mr Perceptive to keep twisting my arm to buy him a beer:coat:

That's a lot better, in my eyes at least. It is nowhere as near contrasty as the original, and just looks more natural. Pity about the lean though!
Could you bring the sky out a bit more?

@Mr Perceptive + @mickledore wont spam the thread with any more of the same image but I tried again last night based on advise.
Tad underexposed I think but here it is... I like it more than the original - thanks for the pointers.

Colours look a lot more natural, nice....agree about the slight underexpose, the image is quite dark on left and right edges, but they may be the light contributing. The most important thing, is that you like it.......

I wouldn't worry about spamming the forum, we will never be as bad as the D750 thread :D

Well it's free so why not. You won't use it every time but it's good to have in your armoury.

After a few months haunting the classifieds, i've settled on a Fuji x-t10 with a 27 lens. Still adjusting, but love the quality of the pictures it produces.

Good choice. Here's a nice little bag I bought just a few days ago that fits this combo nicely.

It's the Manfrotto Nano VII, its discontinued and the only place I could find it was Amazon.

:D

Thanks, Martin. I'll try and track that down. Very useful :)

I should add that the wrist strap is not part of the case which only comes with belt loops.

Well just had a read through some of the posts.

Thinking of getting one of these again and have a proper go at it. As like the idea of lighter kit.

How far people happy to go with ISO. Also how quick is AF for tracking when needed.

I'll go 6400. Max raw iso then do what I need in post.

Use your Nikon for tracking. Fuji is great for pretty much everything else though

Managed to get out of work at lunch yesterday and out into the fells. Here are my favourite 2 - one with Samyang 12mm and 10stop - second with Helios 44-2 58mm vintage lens :).

Oh I do love the Velvia setting

Yep, thats XT1 Velvia alright! Works very well in the first, perhaps a bit sickly in the second for my liking but there's no denying the impact it can bring to an image. I generally use it all the time unless there's sun about in which case it tends to get a bit too lairy for me and I knock it back to Standard/Provia.

Just looking at ordering an X-T1 but now thinking should I wait for the X-T2

X-T2 is rumoured not to be out till late in the year - October/November. Then it will cost an arm and a leg so "sensible" folk will wait until February/March next year to let the price settle and get the initial flaws sorted out.
Second hand X-T1 models are going for reasonable money right now. Buy one from Classifieds on here, use it, and you won't loose to much if/when you decide to sell.

I'm waiting for an X-T2 as well but will keep the X-T1 as a second body.

Weathjer is not looking too promising for Coniston tomorrow.
I'm thinking of joining the TP meet at the Arboretum. At least it's sea level, and they do bacon butties!

A message for Mrs @WingTsun ...
If you love your boy don't let him anywhere near me. He'll end up at the bottom of the Thames with his macro gear round his neck. And that's just for starters!

I've been playing with this Vivitar 1:1 macro lens. It ain't as easy as it looks.
This is an 8 shot stack of the control button on my 40D. It's taken me three hours to get this far. Seems I've a lot to learn, not least to use a CPL.
Doesn't it show dust up?

Random question incoming...

Are there an Film SLRs that will allow you to use your Fuji X mount lenses without an adapter? Or is it a "modern" mount.

The Fuji X mount is specifically designed for their X series cameras so there's no backwards compatibility as far as I'm aware...

The focus position on the X-mount lenses is quite short as the sensor is closer to the mount than on a traditional SLR/DSLR, so even if it did fit the focus position would be all wrong, and you would have a very limited working distance. The other way round is fine, SLR lens to Fuji X, as the adapter acts as a spacer and puts the focus point on the lens in the right place for the Fuji X camera.

You might be able to cobble something together for an older rangefinder style camera though.

I'm in the midst of moving over to the Fuji X system and going to start with an XT-10 just working out the best sources at the moment.

I've been a canon user for years but am finding especially when travelling the kit is taking up far too much space and then whenever I just take my X100S I'm always amazed at the images so hoping that I can get the flexibility of having an SLR and quality lenses with the portability that's becoming more and more essential

Never though about that - explains why my M42-X adapter is so large!

Thanks :)

You are not the first on this thread to go down that road. You'll like it in here - it's one of the more sensible areas (Present company excepted!)

Thanks! Looking forward to getting my new kit and trying it out!

I shoot a lot of live music so interested to see what the performance is like for that as I've never used anything other than Canon for that!

Has anyone here come from a Nikon d750 apart from twist. Has any regret

I technically haven't come from a d750. The xt1 couldn't totally replace my dslr, I use and like both systems. Think about what you want to use it for, the xt1 delivers in most cases but I've always needed very top end af so the dslr definitely has its place.

Got to say though, after using something like the 50-140 I'm very impressed with the af. The new lenses are wwaaaaay faster. Sensor isn't as good as d750 but most aren't, even other ff cameras, again consider what iso etc you use.

LOL! Do spend another 3 hours cleaning the ruddy dust off! Us macro brothers all are placed quite high on the autistic spectrum. :D

I've recently got the same combo after getting rid of my x100s. Fits in a small bag with my 35 f2 great combo.
