The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Yes, the EVF of the X-T1 is peerless, but what I meant was that the X-T10 (and X-E2) is still better than the EVF in many other mirrorless cams. And is still very useable. But the T10, even with a grip, was just too fiddly for me.

XT10 might be a great camera but like you as soon as i held it i knew it was not for me, big difference, for me, to the XT1. Problem is I sold the XT1 but will decide this weekend, probably :) whether to swap back to Fuji..

So glad I got another XT1, really pleased, especially with the new FW. It cant replace my FX camera due to AF and my love for the Sigma 35 but IQ and ergonomics are so much nicer than other systems Ive tried in between.

Running 2 systems not an option for me, my life expectancy would be very short:)

Myproblem exactly. Still debating with myself whether I should ditch my D7100 for the Fuji and the only thing stopping me is the hassle of selling my kit.

Any idea how stingy MPB are with their trade ins?

I usually reckon on knocking 20% off their asking price for similar kit if in mint condition.

Depends on the kit. Did all of mine lately. They were quite reasonable on most but strangely lowball on others... I took the good offers and stuck others on eBay.

Ffordes are worth a try. Very honest people to deal with.

They are decent, also try WEX, LCE.

That's generally what I've found, with the caveat that sometimes they value much lower. Suppose as always it's a case of supply and demand.

They must buy for less than 20% less than they sell or there is no profit, vat adds 20% right back on

Those are PX prices though, exchanging for cash would be much less.

Thanks for the replies in regard to the XT10 vs the XT1.

Seems as if the XT1 is the one to get, I suppose after owning two previously I would notice the difference, even though it's been about two years since I changed to the D750. I could get the XT10 now, but may have to save a little longer for the XT1.

Whats the current rumours or roadmap for the XT2 hitting the shelves, is there going to be an announcement this June?

I think youll hear an announcement June / July, will the Xpro 2 feature set less the HVF be enough to justify the additional cost over the Mk1 is the better question. What about going used?

No. They never do. Unless you're a niche pro photographer who needs the exact upgrades that camera incorporates then paying a grand to 1500 more for it is a fairly pointless exercise in my book. I could still produce perfectly acceptable images with a Nikon D1X from 20 years ago. The gains are incremental but the companies rely on the DPReview crowd who do like the latest and greatest.

Exactly why I moved to fuji - Got tired of paying to play the numbers game.

When inquisitive friends/relatives ask about it they often seem underwhelmed when they find out it's "only" a 16mp apsc sensor... After all, the point and shoot around their neck is 24mp!

At that point, I whip out my phone and show them my work. ;)

My best party peice is taking a shot of someone, and using my phone to instantly get it to them SOOC (cos, you know... fuji rocks that!), or within 3mins after the snapseed treatment. Either way they're often blown away, having assumed that photos of that quality need ages in photoshop.

It was a weekend away visit which I thoroughly enjoyed. All the above captures were taken with the XT-1 and 10-24mm F4.

Really interesting set of images architectfadi. Can I ask what those metal discs with the "faces" are?

Thanks. The metal faces represent the Jewish people who were captured by the Germans. They are not fixed and you are meant to walk on them.

I find myself hankering for an X100T to back up my X-T1. I have toyed with buying the 23mm but it's just a bit too big. I know there might be an F2 version coming out soon tho. What to do? What and see if the F2 is smaller or buy the X100T?

I curse cos I missed the £696 prices it was selling for last week. Doh!

The XF23mm may be big, but is very, very sharp (my favourite lens on an X-T1, and I still own an X100!!!

Sounds promising on the 27mm front, I'll keep my eyes peeled. In the meantime, will try to use the 35mm a bit to see if I'll miss it :)

I have the 27mm and it's a great little lens for practical walkabout. I bought it instead of a 23mm which I really wanted but didn't have the money for. Then I had a couple of invoices settled and could get the 23mm thinking I'd sell the 27mm. But am keeping it for now as is a good copy and ideal for travelling light and bulk free on the X-T10. I'd say if you can pick one up for around £150 mint then go for it!

With Diabetes T2 (or 1) you get your prescriptions free. So more money for lenses.

Oh yes, you get free eye tests as well with D. Also annual retinopathy scans. Mine is managed very well. Doesn't affect my daily living. Had it for about 22 years.

I got diagnosed a few years back and the Doc was filled with dire warnings. He actually said my readings were so bad he didn't know how I was sitting in the chair! Anyway, as it had been undiagnosed for a long time it had affected my eyes and I had to get cataracts removed from each. I was constantly exhausted and lost a lot of weight. Anyway, after a bad year all is back on the up again. Just be sensible, walkaround, take your meds. Have to say the cataract surgery was the best gear upgrade I ever had and would recommend it :-P

Very nice quality to those images. I like the idea of a 35mm ... maybe if I sell my 27mm.

Had a beautiful morning in the woods 2 minutes from my house this morning, one of the best locations in the UK for bluebells apparently (and I've never visited until today, lived here all my life!) Such a breathtaking sight when you reach them, carpeting the floor as far as you can see.
