The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

With Diabetes T2 (or 1) you get your prescriptions free. So more money for lenses.
I'm old enough to get my prescriptions for free anyway.
Sorry that doesn't count as good news.

It might lead to glaucoma then I'd have free eye tests, but I wouldn't be able to see anything of importance. ..like the EVF!

[Tale of woe mode ON]
This has not been a good day.
Had reserved the day for a trip out with @Mr Perceptive . Unfortunately work intervened so that had to be cancelled.
Decided I'd have a trip by myself to Coniston Copper Mines.
Then Royal Mail tell me that a cheapo Macro lens that @WingTsun pointed me at was being delivered today. End of Coniston.
Postie has just been and brought.....nothing!
SWMBO decided that as I was at home I should go and see doctor, so I made an appointment and just got back.
Type 2 diabetes. Eughh!
Someone give me some good news.
[Tale of woe mode OFF]

That's a bit of a bummer. I suppose at least if you know, it can be managed.

(Working today is made all the worse by the great weather outside....)

And the weather is supposed to be getting worse this weekend. SWMBO has some friends coming to stay all weekend so no togging for me. Things just get worse.
You free next week anytime after Monday?

Don't know yet, I have a bad month for customers messing me about with projects and dates, just had another one put back into May yesterday! It always happens that stuff gets put back into months where I have a holiday booked!!!

I have to go to Birmingham one day, and Stockport another, but I don't know which days those will be be (yet)...I'll keep you posted.

On a side note did you see that Perch Rock Lighthouse, is lighting up on Saturday, a solar powered installation, so hopefully it's a long term thing.

Good news at last. Postie has just come back full of apologies. My new/old macro lens has arrived. Only need the adaptor now.

Can't go this Saturday as I will be entertaining.
Next Saturday is certainly a possibility. Saturday after that you are in Amsterdam and I'm in London. Pencil???
Edit...if it's long term then it might be every night, not just Saturdays. Even easier to fit in.

Oh yes, you get free eye tests as well with D. Also annual retinopathy scans. Mine is managed very well. Doesn't affect my daily living. Had it for about 22 years.

It's a Nikon AI to Fuji that I need. (Yes I bought a Nikon fit lens!)
I have one on order and it should be here Tuesday.

Free eyesight test too

Thanks but it's not a problem. With visitors being here from tomorrow lunch till Monday lunch I won't be getting the camera out much anyway.
I've been told that I'll have to be nice to people......all weekend.

Just realised I get free eye tests anyway. There are some advantages to being old!
I can't bend my back. My knees are shot. My hearing has gone and now my eyes are on the way out.
But at least I get a bus pass that I can use on the local trains round here.

Do many people use the Fuji XF 16mm? I love my Samyang 12mm for what it is but want to grab a nice Fuji AF wide prime.
The 14mm appeals but the DOF from the 16mm 1.4 produces some awesome images (possibly a tick against this rather than the 14mm)... and its Weather Resistant... which is ideal as I live in the lakes...
Would combo nicely with my 18-135mm aswell???

But... I just don't seem to see it talked about much??? Am I missing something.
The 16mm is perfect and it is amazing how much bokeh one can get out of this wide lens.

Got the same diagnosis, mate. I have about 2 kilos of extra weight that I'm carrying. Gonna get back on the triathlon bike and lose it and hope I maybe can reverse the T2. Apparently, it is possible in many cases. On ya bike, son!

Hope it works for you. I knackered my back and knees in the 80s and 90s when I was doing 100 mile fell runs! Can't run upstairs now.
We'll compare notes in a fortnight.

@chrism_scotland has the 16mm on the X-Pro2 and rates it highly, he will probably tell you more.

Been meaning to reply to this all day! I sold my 16mm to a friend when I bought the 16-55 but its a stellar lens, I'm actually close to selling on the 16-55 and adding another 16mm to my kit as I liked it that much, I use the 16-55 at 16mm a lot and frankly the 16mm makes the zoom look awful from a distortion point of view.

Havn't seen many for sale second hand. Surely a sign that everyone is enjoying it :(.

Shows how much warmer you southern softies are. Ours are a couple of weeks from blossom.
I still take a hot water bottle to bed, but she has to leave when the wife arrives!
Better off taking a Whippet to bed.

Oh, these blossomed weeks ago. It's been a very mild winter here and the flowers in our garden started coming out a lot earlier than usual.

I've been watching the postings on here and we are way behind even though we too had a mild winter.
It's tough up north!

Can I quote you on that:confused:
Not if you're talking to Wife. She thinks I take a Jack Russell to bed.

They all feel the same under the covers ...

Thinking of picking up a XT10 as a lightweight option for me, along with the 16-50mm lens. I have owned the version 1 lens before, is version 2 any better as I found 1 to be excellent. I have had a couple of XT1, Xpro-1 and XE-1 and most of the original XF lenses, so have an idea on the system:eek:

To save me going back all the pages can anyone give me a rough comparison between the XT1 vs XT10.

Your avatar isn't.
Is that your bedtime companion?
She was. I must update my avatar. Dibnah, pictured, had to be put to sleep last December due to kidney failure. Our replacement rescue JR, Mistletoe, sleeps downstairs - so far!

A lot more than just iso dial and weather sealing.... I knew the XT10 wasnt for me as soon as I held it.

ALso the EVF is smaller if I'm not mistaken? Which is unfortunate as otherwise I'd pick one up!
It is smaller, but unless you use the two side by side you'd probably not notice, as it's still very good.
