The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

I wear glasses and haven't noticed any viewfinder issues with the X-T10, plenty of adjustment available with the diopter. It has the same resolution and refresh rate as the X-T1, it's just a bit smaller.

I guess the main difference that could annoy people is the lack of ISO dial.

I thought the X-T10 had the same viewfinder as the X-E2, if so then I notice a massive difference in viewfinders when I had my X-T1, the viewfinder in that is a beautiful thing. Still, I shoot with glasses and I find the X-E2's viewfinder fine for that.

Nice shot. I see you also use a D750. I got rid of mine and Im tempted to go XT-1 with either the 18-135 or 18-55. Any thoughts ?

I used Nikon for decades and their cameras and lenses were always excellent. I have no regrets finally changing to an X-T1 from my last D300S, though.

Just had a quick play with Analogue Efex Pro... (NIK) and I like it!

No amount of stats can give the true impression of an X-t1's viewfinder compared to fuji's other offering. It truly is amazing, especially the split screen mode, I miss that so much on my X-E2

I have the xt1 now and must admit I completely forgot about this as I have been using focus peaking.

Just a quick heads up, will probably be selling my Fuji XT1 and lenses soon as I'm just not getting the time for photography and the money can be put to better use elsewhere. It'll be an XT1, 35mm 1.4, 56mm 1.2, 18-55mm 2.8 and the 50-230 zoom.

Not got prices or pics sorted yet but just a heads up in case anyone is on the look out for any of the above kit

Not sure if you saw my previous post but when you put it up for sale depending on price I could be interested in most if not all of it.

A few from Scotland over Easter. Luckily there was a fresh fall of snow overnight and a lovely day to follow. X-T1 and mainly the 50-230mm or 18-55mm

Love the Aonoch-Mor panorama in mono.

I would never get rid of the DSLR, This is my first FF and i love it + i have invested quite heavily in lens, I also love the Fuji, great when i wish to go lightweight more than anything.or travelling, great IQ i lovley to use.

I know of lots who have sold up & moved fully over to Mirrorless, most have always ended up rebuying DLSR again at some stage. in the future.

Hard decision to be honest, but for me i like to have both :-)

what a beautiful dog you have

Thanks he's a Sprocker Spaniel and an absolute nutter but I wouldn't change him for the world. Can't beat a nice walk after work especially now it's light again and face licks when you've had a rubbish day.

He's settled down a bit now but we have to tape the kitchen cupboards up when we go out for a few hours as he opens them even with child locks. He's now learned to open the washing machine and takes the washing out. He's not that clever though as he cant fold or iron yet!!!

So, the 100-400 works. Good to know (as always these have lost quite a bit via Flickr, they look superb on Flickr itself). 6 hours into my photography day so far, left Castle Combe a while ago and now at Silverstone for the 24hr race. Yes, I have a lot of Fuji batteries :)

Nice shots, far better than anything I managed, I won't be bothering posting any I shot now :D I only had an hour there unfortunately. The lens seems okay, but I'm really struggling with the "blackout" on the EVF when panning. I'll have another couple of goes with it, but it's just not working for me at the moment. I might consider swapping the X-T1 for an X-Pro2 for the OVF but I don't know how the larger lenses will impact on the view, might be difficult for right to left pans :D

Disappointing day all in. If I can't get a handle on it I'll probably offload most of the Fuji kit, if not all of it, and maybe get an X100 again...

That's a shame. I've had a fair bit of practice with mirrorless now and I genuinely don't even notice the blackout any more. It doesn't feel any different to shooting with a DSLR and my hit rate suggests that's the case as well. Definitely worth persevering in my opinion, the 100-400 is up there with any telephoto I've used.

It may be worth panning with single shot for a while, there is generally no need to be bursting away whilst panning, which would eliminate the blackout issue.

I don't see how, it's worse with aircraft as the EVF is messed up its impossible to follow a curve nicely, BIF is even worse again. I don't do single shot pans as I only do low shutter speeds. I could easily come home with no shots from a days shooting if I did that :D

Single shots would be okay, but at somewhere like Prescott where cars are accelerating/braking all the time it's also difficult to predict. I've been kidding myself really as I knew this from last year. Why I thought the 100-400 would be different I don't know :(

The 100-400 is definitely less reliable than the 50-140 in terms of AF, hunting etc, but it's not as far behind as I expected it to be.

As a bonus I'm currently only on my second battery this weekend but have just sailed past 4000 shots! I think that might be a record.

I will be giving it more of a go, I'll be back there next weekend. Hopefully got longer so I can get into the swing of things better... Shooting more has got to help, I didn't shoot much motorsport last year. I wasn't too good at panning myself yesterday (with regards to technique) and with the EVF making things harder it was all a bit demoralising!

I had lots of shots like this, and even more with less of the car in the shot!:

I ended up backing off the zoom and then cropping in, which kinda defeats the point. I might as well stick with the 50-140 and the TC:

I don't tend to shoot side on pans much either, I like to shoot multiples as a car approaches, passes and moves away. Generally in small 3-4 shot bursts. At the end of a burst I have to quickly get the car back in frame as I have inevitably lost it from where I want it in the composition. Yesterday was definitely a run before I can walk afair :D

hi all,

Calling all macro guys. Which is best..the Fuji or the Zeiss?

hi all,

The 60mm Fuji is not a true macro in the sense that it can produce a 1:1 image. The AF is also quite slow and has difficulty locking on to reflective surfaces. On the other hand the Zeiss Touit 50 f/2.8 offers full 1:1 reproduction. I had the 60 mm for a while but chopped it in for the Zeiss, as you would expect from the Zeiss family it's exceptionally sharp and AF extremely responsive. It's also come down in price recently which is a real bonus !

For macro you're not quite as limited as that. You'll shoot pretty much exclusively in manual mode and really don't need AF for macro work. As such, you can look at lenses from all manufacturers, old and new and just use an adapter. What kind of macro photography are you planning to shoot?

insects and wildlife mainly. Just bored and want to try something new :)

OK. It would probably be worth spending some time reading up and asking in our macro forum on here. You'd be surprised how many of us don't use the standard macro lenses you'd first think of like the Fuji 60 or Zeiss.

Hi folks. I'm thinking of switching from Canon (and MFT) to Fujifilm after spending a little time with the X-Pro2.

I really want a tilting screen (as I take a lot of low shots), so will probably wait for XT-2. Am also hoping it will have the touch focus from the X70.

I've seen some speculation re: the spec. But can anyone summarise what the XT-2 will lack compared with the X-Pro2 please? (Or point me in the direction of info?)

Would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Obviously no-one knows, as an X-T2 is only presumed to be in the pipeline. But unless they were to increase the physical size of the camera, I find it difficult to visualise just where they would locate the focus-point joystick, as it would make the back plate rather cramped. And I would suspect that it would retain the current X-T1's physical controls, with a totally separate ISO dial. Whether it would get the X-Pro2's dual card slots is also a moot point.
