The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

I picked up my X-T1 and put a 23mm on it yesterday, I forgot how good the handling was in manual with the aperture ring on the lens and how smooth the primary controls are using dials. It's such a nice day today I'm compelled to go out and use it.....

Had a trip to the British Lawnmower Museum this morning. Yes, such things exist. £3 to get in, but not for us!
Felt a bit uncomfortable without my anorak. Talk about esoteric.
Some unusual stuff in there. Machines that belonged to Eric Morecambe, Albert Pierpoint (the last hangman of England, who also came from Southport), Richard and Judy and Princess Di.
So much stuff crammed in it was hard to get a decent shot of anything. Still, it was a morning away from SWMBO and the Wednesday cleaning routine; not a safe place for a man, any man!

Correction, I believe Harry Allen was the last hangman, though Albert Pierpoint was certainly the most prolific!

You definitely needed the full anorak for that museum visit, probably one with a furry hood as well!!!!

OOH you are right. Pierpoint is a bit of a celebrity round here, even though he is dead. The pub he ran is still referred to as The Hangman's. Mind you we don't have much else to be proud of. And that includes the lawnmower museum!

When I was a brat we visited Southport every week. Then there was a camera shop down every arcade off Lord Street!

Sorry fabs but Southport is just a tawdry place living on what it once thought it was. For years it tried to compete withBlackpool but failed. Now that seaside holidays in UK are history it doesn't really have a purpose.

Yes there is sea but with a big flat expanse of featureless beach. How I long for a coastline like Northumberland.

That's what appeals to me!

Just a quick heads up, will probably be selling my Fuji XT1 and lenses soon as I'm just not getting the time for photography and the money can be put to better use elsewhere. It'll be an XT1, 35mm 1.4, 56mm 1.2, 18-55mm 2.8 and the 50-230 zoom.

Not got prices or pics sorted yet but just a heads up in case anyone is on the look out for any of the above kit

Like everything it depends on price and condition. If their right I could be interested in a lot of this kit. Ill keep a look out.

Had a good play with AF settings on my X-T10 today as I had a rare wedding where I was just a guest. I've always stuck to 'S' with a small AF box, so no fancy stuff going on whatsoever, its been working well but wanted to see if the Continuous modes would be beneficial. After several hours of tinkering...I'm sticking with Single Shot. Even at f1.2 I got a whole sequence of my son running at some pace towards me.

Single just feels much quicker to lock and way, way more consistent.

Re the possible sale of items, rest assured all are in excellent condition and have seen little use. I'll post when I'm ready to list. Cheers

Looks like he's on a mission! I'm with you on s mode, but this might be because the 56 is not a fast focusing lens, much like the original 35. Whack the 18-55 on there and you may get better results in c mode.

Either way, it's interesting to look back at the fuss that was made around firmware 4.0! Not sure I use many of the new features at all! :D

I find the 56 significantly quicker than the 35 personally, although as you say still not the quickest.

I've never really had much joy with advanced focussing modes on any camera, even beasts like the D750. Although I understand cameras like the a7RII have genuinely useable face tracking even for fast moving wedding photography.

Well...the owner of the Lawnmower Museum is so pleased with the shots from our visit that he is sending me some complimentary tickets to be used on a future visit. They will include an audio tour as well.

An opportunity not to be missed. Anyone want them?

Great work! I might try this next time I go to a Museum :)

Tish, tish, my boy.
This museum regularly gets on TV. Usually under the heading of oddball things. And that's just the owner:rolleyes:

I did fix it up in advance so that I wouldn't have to pay the entry fee. That's why I gave him copies of my shots. It must be worth a try elsewhere.
Where next? There's a clock museum in Prescott. That's near enough.
Watch this space.

If you are shooting RAW they will come out as colour. If you are shooting just JPEGs then you are a naughty boy.
You do know that ISO 100 automatically gives you JPEGS?
Have you got one of your buttons set to picture style? You could be catching it accidentally.

I think I might. No, I always have mine set to RAW + Fine. That way I can view the files easily in JPEG and then open the ones I want in Iridient in RAW and convert. However, on this occasion, basically for the purposes of lighting and not needing a RAW image, I bumped the ISO down to 100. I did notice that as the image was recorded, on the screen it showed 4 images, so the screen was quartered, so to speak. Haven't seen that before. I did reset the set-up menu earlier today? What might I have changed accidentally?

So your pictures are only worth a few quid then? You're seriously undervaluing yourself.

Think it's more that you are over valuing me. However if you want me to carry out a commission for you I'll charge an appropriate fee:D

Sold the XT1 a few months ago and got a D750 and have come to the conclusion I like fuji and jpegs. Bought an XT10 off ebay last night with the £50/20% discount so pretty good price, usually wear varifocals and read some where the 10 viewfindeer not as good for spectacle wearers as the XT1, any thoughts on that and any thing else I will be disappointed with on the 10 compared to the XT1.
Meet Susie- its the radiator thats not level - honest:rolleyes:
