The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Anyone here shoot with the newer Fuji XF16mm f/1.4R lens ? It seems a lot of glass (nearly £700) with possible cash back deals. I'd appreciate any photo's shot with it, thanks.

After testing my x-t1 in the studio I've decided I'm not a huge fan so it's all going to be sold.

MOD EDIT: Selling only to be done in the classifieds section please

Too much to really go into...mostly the speed of autofocus that annoys me.

In a studio? I think it's well known that AF speed isn't brilliant for motor sports, but for static objects/people? What have you been trying to shoot?

Sorry, should have been clearer. I did a shoot for a family and kids were running about. Most of the shots were not sharp. Static was fine. The 5dmkiii was flawless as usual.

I will go mirror less one day..but it needs to do it all and it's not quite there yet.

18, 23, 35 (hated it!), 60 (quite tricky to focus sometimes but an awesome lens nonetheless with good IQ) and the 50-140. The 50-140 was in a league of its own for me. It was unbelievably good. I loved shooting motorsport with it, but i also liked to use the 18 and 23 too. AF-C and CH rendered really good results for me.

Yeah, it was the 23 that was frustrating me. The 16-55 was ok, ish.

Well I'm up and running now - picking it up fairly quickly (have come from Canon), no big disasters other than the lack of RAW when I stuck it on iso100.

Couple of shots to share :)

Got the bridge with a fiend's 10-24(seems really nice) and the other two with the 18-135 (again, seems sharp) - happy bunny so far :)

In what way? I found the 23 superb. Was amazingly sharp and it could produce some quite nice bokeh.

Oh yeah, it's super sharp and nice bokeh, but soooo slow to focus. I'm used to my canon 35mm which is super fast. I know I'm comparing very different animals here but I guess I'm just used to using the canon.

Three very nice shots Mike, the Robin shot is showing some fine detail and great comp', and the detail, comp', and exposure in the Bridge shot is right on the money.

"Good to see your getting on well with the new system".

George.

I'm sure I'm miles off, and no offence intended besides if this question is irrelevant to you, it might help someone else...

But, did you have high performance mode switched on in the menu? It's basically the first thing to do with any applicable Fuji the moment you put the battery in for the first time!

Was the first thing I did when I unboxed it :)

Have you decided to keep the gear after all?

Give it another go. I too came from Canon and didn't have many problems

And in keeping with that last post....

It's time for me to move on my XT1, we've had an absolute blast and I really enjoyed using the camera, I've taken some of the best shots I ever had with it and will sad to see it go...

This thread has been awesome, thanks for all the help/guidance etc...

:(

Glad i am sticking with my 6D now.:D:)

Fuji gear especially the X-T1 seem to have a very high turnover rate, wonder why?

I think this has been covered before. A lot of folk want a smaller, lighter, cheaper DSLR. The main point being it must be a DSLR. The mirrorless systems are smaller, lighter and cheaper, but they are not DSLRs so folk try them and give up trying to get used to a different system. Makes picking up good s/h gear a lot easier!!!

Agree! I'll open the can of worms. Some of the photos on this thread are as good as any I've seen, you need to know how to get the best out of the system. I'm still learning, I'll persevere.

I totally agree, BUT, sometimes the systems needs to help you and not stand in your way...

I bought this lens few weeks ago and it's just amazing. Sharp, sharp and sharp, bokeh is great for a wide lens and helped by the close focusing distance and F1.4. I have no internet connection at the moment (just moved houses) but image quality is just amazing.

Who makes top end neck straps?

I have a BlackRapid RS-7 but after a nice neck strap too.

Cheers
