The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

So go on then, give me advice.

I've got the Canon 5D3, 24-105, 70-200 f4 and a MkIII 1.4 extender.
Don't do much action or BIFs. Thinking seriously of getting shut of these. Really seriously. I'll wait till January, but early in the month.

Fuji I have a X-T1, 18-55 kit lens, a 56mm on it's way to me, 10-24 and Samyang 8mm fisheye.
I shoot landscapes, architecture, some creative stuff and oddball projects that are usually more about getting the shot than the shot itself.

If I get rid of the Canon stuff what should I get to complement/increase my range? Was thinking of tyhe 35mm 1.4???
Won't get a second body until the X-T2 comes out, probably late next year.

If I need to try something I will just fix up a day out with Mr Perceptive. He has everything!!!

Suggestions please.

I'm up in arms about the 35 and 56mm....

Is there really that much between the two?

Sigh. Think the xt10 is to small for me. Can't get comfy with it. Now to ponder if I want to spend extra on an xt1.

If you're happy with the fuji and aren't using the canon stuff then get rid. Even just to have the funds to by something else later.

The Lee Seven5 system definitely vignettes on the 10-24 at around 12mm, but the slightly wider Hitech should be OK, but possibly not at 10mm. The Samyang 12mm filter thread is 5mm smaller than the Fuji 10-24, so I would have thought that could have been OK, but you may not be able to stack filters without vignetting, someone would have to try it!

I've also recently invested in the Hitech 85mm system (I've bought a set of soft and hard grads), but only for Grads, all my stoppers are screw in, as I just find that easier (have the Hitech 16 stopper on order!)

Lee seven5 works fine with Samyang 12mm, unless you have it at about 45 degrees when it is possible just to catch a glimpse of filter in the corner.

I've just upgraded from the X-T10 to the X-T1 Graphite and the X-T1 is slightly bigger but not by that much. I upgraded due to the weather sealed body as was fed up of not being able to use my camera in the rain. Also like the dials for ISO and metering but not a deal breaker.

Next purchase which will be a few weeks away is the 18-135, I already have the 18, 35 1.4 and 50-230 along with an x100s.

I ordered it from Amazon warehouse for £598 as there's 30% off at the minute.

How do you save the 7 custom settings accessible from the Q menu? Never fiddled with these but have no idea how to save a custom setting

It's a hard one and no doubt in time, I shall own every bloody lens from Fuji.....

Current ideal setup would be 10-24, 18-55 & 56mm.

But I'd rather buy a cheap prime (35mm) and see how I get on with it.

I had a 50mm 1.4 on my old 550d and loved it.

What sort of condition did your graphite model come in out of interest?

Sat watching the football in the dark, fiddling with my new 56...

Like new no scratches or marks, box was a bit battered and 1 of the metal triangle loops that attach the strap and leather piece to stop it scratching was missing. I emailed Amazon stating this and that I wanted to keep the camera and they have given me a £20 credit making the camera £579.

I think the combination of better grip and that little extra perhaps just makes it better for me. Xt10 feels awkward in my hands, more point and shoot than proper camera. I'll try it again tomorrow but I'm used to handling different cameras and I can tell if I'll get on with something almost immediately.

I ordered the X-t10 with the 16-50 but then wanted the 18-55 so purchased a second hand one but it felt too heavy for the body. With the 18 and 35 it's a great lightweight setup and the 50-230 felt fine on it as well.

Everyone is different I've only got small hands so the X-t10 felt fine for me but so does the X-t1. Can you send it back?

Well that's a great result! Amazon have been brilliant, I pacified my GAS by buying a Chromebook for £105, only to find the price dropped the next day. I contacted them and they refunded me the next day :)

Now, must resist the graphite chrome X-T1...I could sell my 6D...but what would I need two X-T1s for?! :D

Yeah, can send it back. Im using it with the 35, AF and overall performance seems alright and I can see it would sell well though, quite a lot for the money.

Would I be right in thinking that this is a relatively small glitch on ane part of the upgrade, and even if we don't "upgrade" to 4.21 nothing too drastic will happen?

I'm tempted to do nothing other than note the T&O problem.

Yes from what I can see its a small glitch that would require nothing more than a battery pull to resolve

I saw these hats on a stall the other day and thought there might be a reasonable shot in there. And something I don't normally do is wack the ISO up, but this was shot at 6400-ISO and to say I'm impressed with the quality that is still there is an understatement.

X-T1, 18-55mm Lens, 1/1000th @ F5.6, 6400-ISO, Handheld.

Thanks George. I keep looking at displays like that. A nice mix of colours and shapes.

Thanks for that Frank, appreciate your comments.(y)

Hi guys, I would appreciate you opinion on converting X-T1 native raw to dng. What are the advantages or disadvantages. The reason I ask is because I have an old version of Photoshop so can't open the raw files, but I can use the free dng converter.

I always convert the RAW files to dng on import to Lightroom. As I understand things there is no loss of quality, just a removal of extraneous matter that takes up storage space.
Only drawback I can see is that it takes a bit longer.
I may be wrong though. I definitely remember being wrong before - just the once!
