The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

I was just gonna post a query about Lee filter system, you beat me to it Stuart. I already have the 100mm Lee filter system and am going to end up buying either the Big Stopper or the Little stopper, but I'm swayed towards the Little Stopper as results from the Big Stopper seem quite a bit over the top for me personally with it's results. Less is more I think.

Anyone shoot with the Lee Little Stopper? Would love to hear your views please. It seems both the Little and Big Stopper's are the same price of £99. Sorry Stuart for pushing in on your query.

Regards.

I have both..and I recommend getting both. sometimes the 10 stop is all you can get away with (super bright sunlight)

If you get the 10-24mm lens you get zero vignetting at 10mm with the 100mm lee filter system..which is nice :)

I'm a Billingham Boy!!

Hadley Digital - 1 body 2 lenses

Hadley Pro - 2 bodies up to 6 lenses

335 - when I want the lot!!! - 3 bodies, 6-10 lenses!!!

Hadley Digital or Small I think will suffice for one body and 2 lenses, unless I go and buy a 10-24 too make it 3 lenses.... Then maybe the Pro will be the best bet.

Triger trap stuff is on it's way and should be here tomorrow....along with the 56mm lens.

Note to self - days out with Mr Perceptive are expensive!!!

Glad to be of service!!!!

Anyway you still have that boat anchor of a Canon DSLR which you can always sell to buy more Fuji shiney toys..........

The Digital is only suitable for two Small/Medium size lenses, with the 18-135 it's a struggle to get anything else in the bag!!!! also as the digital is smaller it's less flexible and I find that often things fit better if I take off any L brackets.

The Pro is a nice sized bag, I can see myself using it a lot.

I would recommend the Billingham shoulder pads if you start to put s bit of weight on their bags.

Don't think I'm not tempted! Trouble is people keep giving me batteries to go with it. What would I do with them?

ugh, im so torn..I have a shed load of canon gear and its all currently boxed up as I want to trade it all in and go full on fuji...but something is compelling me to keep the canon kit, even though there is a good chance I will never use it all ever again!

If I were you I would wait till January/February for the X-pro 2. But Im surprised you would go all Fuji, your current gear tells me your shooting style requires the best in terms of AF, overall performance and build quality.

ooor, I have GAS.

I'll let you decide :)

Bags? I have one of these official Fuji bags. Holds body with lens attached with room for 2 more lenses. Pockets for keys/cash etc. Use it when out with SWMBO or as a glorified man bag.

My main bag is a ThinkTank Retrospective 10. Absolutley massive. Bought it for use with the 5D, but it carries all I'm the Fuji gear ever likely to need - or own.

Had a long chat with Mr Perspective about this on Saturday. He's got rid of all his and I'm sorely tempted. If you look around there are lots of pros using nothing but Fuji and getting stonking good results. We put it down to technique. The Fujis will take any picture you want so long as you are good enough to use the gear.
Decisions, decisions.

Hmmm, I actually prefer that Millican bag to the Billingham... Will ask the Mrs which one she likes the most and order ;)

I recently bought an Ona Brixton Canvas bag... now that's a camera bag ;)

Thats a very bold statement. I think there are to may variables to make that true.

yup, I feel attached to my Canon gear. I do use it for weddings mostly and will integrate the Fuji into my work and see how I get on. I already love the X-T1 and have 9 lenses (some are on the way still) and am already considering another body. My only issue is using flash with them. in the studio is fine but for a wedding im not sure how I will get on. for portrait work I have just started using rotolight neo LED lights and they are just amazing to use, with the added bonus of not needing any triggers.

FYI, the ST-E3-RT trigger does not work with the Fuji, even in manual, the 600EX flashguns however work perfectly on the hotshoe.

The Yongnuo 622s work perfectly on the Fuji as do the more basic 603 triggers. Don't know if they will talk to your guns. If not get 622 transceivers. Get a set or just one and run a master/slave setup.
I use my 580 guns no trouble with the Fuji but not ETTL only manual. Suits me fine.

Good to know, are your YN622 Ns or Cs?

I use a YN 622C - TX controller on the hotshoe. Under each flash gun I have a YN 622C transceiver. Flash guns are Canon EX580 MkII
As I understand things the Canon versions work on Fuji, but Nikon don't. Don't ask why because I don't know! (might not even be correct!)
The 622 allow for full control of flash settings from on the camera. But it is manual mode only. No ETTL at all. Doesn't worry me for what I want.
I don't know anything about Fuji flash.

I also use at times YN 603 Mark II (Important the MkII bit) again Canon version, but these need each flash gun to be individually set, so are more PIA and I tend to use these more as wired remote shutter triggers; one on the hotshoe wired in and the other in my hand. You can put a 622C - TX on top of the 603 and fire the camera and flash by remote if that's what you want to do.

My other Nikon Yongnuo stuff works fine, so hopefully the YN622s also will. Yeah, not bothered with TTL, prefer manual.

Thanks

Sounds promising. Would be good to know. I was told that it is something to do with the configuration of the pins. I've never handled a Nikon that closely so can't comment, but there must be others on here with Nikon stuff who would like to know. Saves ditching perfectly usuable stuff.

Will update once Ive tried it. I will use my Nikon stuff as its my main camera but it saves me buying more triggers.

XT-10 just arrived, had a sneaky peek, looks way better in person than in the product shots, feels decent in my hands, not quite as good as the XT1 but havent tried it with a lens so that may change things a bit.

I found out that the 603 MkII Canon triggers will work on a Nikon hotshoe in manual mode only. But don't think the 622s will. Don't know if the Nikon ones will work in reverse.
All these hotshoe and trigger configurations are a minefield to understand.

It's a great lens - I've learned to trust it pretty much throughout its range. I've just had a look at my lightroom folder and it's the lens I shoot with most (because of it's versatility) followed by the 35 and then the 56.

It does landscape really well:

I'm also happy to take pics of the kids running around with it!

Great shot Brian, I like this one very much.(y)

Continuing my recent fad for a bit of "Street Style" photography, here's a couple more of my shots.

Great shooting George, did you wait for them to wake up before asking? ;)

Love the black and white.

Many thanks m8, appreciate your comments.

The first guy was awakened by the plod and asked to move on shortly after I took the shot so I asked him then. And the second guy was awakened by some other guys that were with him so I did the same and asked him then. I know it's not really necessary but I just feel it's the right thing to do.(y)

George.
