The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

What has happened to this thread? It seems to be a constant stream of posts about what price to pay, where to get discount, how much tax or import duty to save or how and why cashbook affects retail/resale values.
I'm going to unsubscribe until the girlie shoppers can start talking about USING their gear.

There are other places to talk about suppliers and prices.

If you ever get out of the Amazon/Panamoz/Digitalrev/tax cheating discussions let me know.

No need to get stroppy ;)

P.s. I didn't buy the graphite X-T1 in the end. Bought a Chromebook for £95 instead :o

I have just bought the XT- 1 kit with the 18-135 and so far i am very impressed. I am still finding my way round the camera but so far i dont regret buying it as i take it with me on walks which is more than i did with my canon gear.

My sentiments exactly. It's a camera I feel comfortable taking anywhere anytime. With my Canon 5D3 I always felt, I dunno obtrusive, posey ? I never felt comfortable out walking with it, especially with long L glass attached (off white ffs ?)
Nice photo, what's the catch ?

Anyone shoot with the Fuji XF18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 lens, what's your thought/views/experiences please ? Any pics displayed here would be great thanks.
It's a great lens, I've had some nice shots with it, I'm not at my computer atm but I'll post some later. A lot of people swear by it as a travel/general walkabout lens but imho it's a bit on the big side. The reason I went totally over to the Fuji X system was for a lightweight portable alternative to dslr, that's why I prefer my 10-24 years or 35mm on my xt1.

Looking to order a 35mm 1.4 tonight, just trying to justify it to myself when I've got the 18-55.....

Talk to me guys!!!

Its the latch off an old gate at the yorkshire sculpture park

Bloody hell, you know how to twist a guys arm!

If I order tonight from DigitalRev, I can get it in time for Christmas.....

I know I'll get flamed, but does anyone have a discount code? It's currently £279.

Cheers all!

Ask in their thread, you'll get £10 voucher but might take a day or two. Have digital rev got any white box 35mm available?

No they haven't by the looks of it. If you can wait you might get one for 220-235 in the classifieds here

I'm not very patient and act on impulse when purchasing 'treats' ... Haha

I'll have a hunt but will more than likely order from DR tonight.

Currently ogling over 35mm sample pics on Flickr.

Hardly worth waiting for the 10 discount... Just get it!

Found one in the classifieds... Hope they reply before 11:59pm....

What bags do you guys have for these cameras?

Currently have a Think Tank Mirrorless Mover 20 and Billingham Hadley Small in an online shopping basket.

Not after anything too big. Just enough for an X-T1 with 18-55 and 35mm ;)

I've currently got a green bag and it's too small! If anyone has a reasonably priced suggestion to hold an XT1, 18-55, 35, 56 and 50-230 that'd be great ☺

I've a Think tank retrospective 7, I love it.I can get my xt1, xpro1 or x100t and a couple of lenses comfortably in it.

I have a Centon D-Trek 60 bought from Jessops a few years ago.
Its a holster bag with front pocket, takes an XT-1 with an 18-135 but its a loose fit and will probably be better when the vertical grip arrives and I put spare batteries and a 27mm in the front

Good evening people, now that I am am serious about getting an XT1 with 18-55 my next question is about filter systems.

I want to get back into serious landscape work but also want to get away from screw in filters.

I aware Lee have a new kit out aimed at mirror less (Seven5) but that is out of my budget. Does anyone use the offering from hitech or have other recommendations that I can look at?
Cheers

I was just gonna post a query about Lee filter system, you beat me to it Stuart. I already have the 100mm Lee filter system and am going to end up buying either the Big Stopper or the Little stopper, but I'm swayed towards the Little Stopper as results from the Big Stopper seem quite a bit over the top for me personally with it's results. Less is more I think.

Anyone shoot with the Lee Little Stopper? Would love to hear your views please. It seems both the Little and Big Stopper's are the same price of £99. Sorry Stuart for pushing in on your query.

Regards.

I find the Little Stopper to be a great filter, more usable than the Big Stopper is

I've been eying up the Hitech 85mm IRND 6 stop and a 2 stop soft grad to get me started.
Like others I have done the 10 stop phase which has become mundane, hopefully the 6 stop will strike a good balance of effect plus usability.

Should be fine unless you get the 10-24 when you might get some vignetting at the wide end.

I am doing well that SWMBO is letting me get the XT1 plus 18-50 - I won't be taking any risks on the 10-24 any time soon

Chances are the Samyang 12mm will make it to the stable first and its not as wide so the above should hopefully still be OK. Unless anyone can confirm otherwise.

The Lee Seven5 system definitely vignettes on the 10-24 at around 12mm, but the slightly wider Hitech should be OK, but possibly not at 10mm. The Samyang 12mm filter thread is 5mm smaller than the Fuji 10-24, so I would have thought that could have been OK, but you may not be able to stack filters without vignetting, someone would have to try it!

I've also recently invested in the Hitech 85mm system (I've bought a set of soft and hard grads), but only for Grads, all my stoppers are screw in, as I just find that easier (have the Hitech 16 stopper on order!)

I have bags for all occasions... I use a Crumpler Doozie Shoulder Camera Pouch (s) which holds the X-T1, 18-55mm, 35mm 1.4 and 60mm, spare batteries/cards and then fits inside any of my rather-too-numerous non-camera sling bags. That way I can decide how much extra stuff I need to carry apart from the camera and just choose an appropriately-sized bag. I also just acquired the Crumpler Jackpack Half Photo System Backpack which is a perfect fit for all of the above plus lunch, waterproofs, filters, lights etc. and could probably be configured to hold one or two more lenses as the collection grows although I might need to make my own extra dividers or borrow them from other bags.

Billingham Hadley Pro here. Lovely thing but wouldn't mind something a bit smaller for when I just want camera+spare lens but not sunglasses, ipad, passports and 4 lenses!

It's a great lens - I've learned to trust it pretty much throughout its range. I've just had a look at my lightroom folder and it's the lens I shoot with most (because of it's versatility) followed by the 35 and then the 56.

It does landscape really well:

I'm also happy to take pics of the kids running around with it!

I'm a Billingham Boy!!

Hadley Digital - 1 body 2 lenses

Hadley Pro - 2 bodies up to 6 lenses

335 - when I want the lot!!! - 3 bodies, 6-10 lenses!!!

Mr Perceptive, morning. An update on my L bracket.
I've cut out a half inch section this morning. Makes access to the door flap so much easier. Plus inserting/removing the right angle cable is quite practical now.
Structural rigidity appears to be unchanged.
A couple of quick drying coats of black paint and all looks good.
Triger trap stuff is on it's way and should be here tomorrow....along with the 56mm lens.

Note to self - days out with Mr Perceptive are expensive!!!
