The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

I've been looking at getting a windows phone as bit bored with iPhone but the windows apps are pretty poor imo

I once ran a very buggy app called windoze 8 on my MacBook Pro using Bootcamp, 'twas not good, it had to go !

Looking for a second body to go with my X-T10 and don't know wether to pick up an xe1 and get the 27mm as already have the 18 and 35 or purchase a x100s. Been reading reviews and people have said that the x100s is faster in brighter light but xe1 better in low light.

Any thoughts?

Andy
If you can afford it, I'd try the x100, any variant. I honestly think it's a camera everyone should try. Not everyone will like it, that's fine, but those of us who do absolutely love it. If it clicks with you then it's just a brilliant little camera. I've recently for the x100t, and it's sufficiently different from my old x100 that I need to learn how to trust it's settings, but despite this learning curve it always puts a smile on my face!

Well I went for an XT-10 !

The offer ar Digital Depot and the price they gave me for the XE2 was just too good - 1st impressions are that I love the design, it focuses very quickly and the little 16-50 focuses very closely !

All, Just joined the XT1 Club ;) (sat next to me now awaiting a lens delivery).

Just wondering if anyone knows of a wide angle <35mm weather sealed lens? Fuji website only mentions their 3 zoom lenses as Weather Resistant.

16mm would fit the bill

ETA
weather sealed primes are 16mm and 90mm

weather sealed zooms are 16-55, 18-135, 50-140

I also got my X-T1 today but it has a weird creaking noise after the shutter release. It's not just a sound — I feel the creak as well. I presume this is a fault but before I send it back, can someone tell me if this is normal or if anyone else has had this problem. I've posted a video on YouTube so you can hear it:

(Edited to add: I've turned off all shutter noises, so it's nothing to do with that. I also hear/feel the creaking as soon as it's switched on)

Can't hear anything unusual there. You sure it's not the OIS spinning up and the sensor cleaning shake? You can hear/feel those quite noticeably (though I'd describe them more of a whirring than a creak.

Thanks for looking. No, I hear the OIS and sensor cleaning happening separately and it happens even with OIS and sensor cleaning off.

All the sounds are switched off (I hate artificial shutter sounds!) so it's nothing to do with that. Thanks for looking though.

The first shot for me David pushes all the right buttons, lovely bit of work.(y)

George.

That's the wonder of the 56mm wide open, I've had a double epiphany in the last month

1) I didn't realise how good the X-T1 is (despite owning X-E1, X-E2) until I bought one.
2) I didn't realise how good the XF56mm isuntil I bought one.

seriously thinking about selling off my Canon gear for more XF glass!!

Doesn't matter, they still activate on startup regardless. Take the lens off to rule out OIS /AF noises.

It's not just on startup, it's when the shutter releases as well. I have taken the lens off and the noise still happens.

You seriously need the XF90mm f/2 next.....!
:D

:clap::clap::clap:
PMSL, I started typing the same thing but thought I'd best stop trying to lead others astray.

But yeah, the 56 is really good but the 90 is speshuller.

Actually I was thinking of selling my 6D + Tamron 24-70 and buying the XF23 and the XF90!!!

That would then give me:- Samyang 8mm, Samyang 12mm, XF14mm, XF18-55mm, XF-18-135mm, XF23mm, XF35mm, XC50-230mm, XF56mm, XF60mm (macro) and the XF90mm plus the two extension rings - should be good enough to be getting on with!!!

To be honest the best thing you can do if your not happy,is to sent it back :(

Sounds like a plan! The 23,56,90 are my favourites out of all the lenses I've ever owned. Don't regret selling the 5DMkII and all my Canon lenses for the move. But I never shoot anything that requires the speed of a DSLR. And it's just more enjoyable shooting with the Fuji/

Amazon are sending a replacement. It's just not a 'clean' sound like I would expect. Just for reference, I grabbed an audio recording and took a screenshot of the waveform of one shutter release, highlighting the bit I think isn't right. It's really hard to tell whether it's an issue or not, but my gut tells me it's not right. I'm willing to be proven wrong!

Looking at the Samyang 12mm - How do you find it? Anyone else use it on their XT1

Sharper than a sharp thing. Nice shot.

I wonder if I had the money (which I don't!) whether I'd get the 90 or the 50-140...

Tested the Lens Turbo II and Contax/Yashica mount Carl Zeiss Planar 85/1.4 at the weekend. Found it hard to nail focus compared with my 6D and that IQ at the edges wasn't that great. It appears that is a trait of this lens until stopped right down though, which is a shame as it renders so well in the middle at f/2.8 and smaller apertures.

These two were at f/2 on the Lens Turbo II, so effectively the equivalent of a native Fuji 85/1.4 (DoF wise) if one were to exist.

I'll be interested to see how the 56/1.2 compares :)

As excellent as the XF50-140mm f/2.8 is, it's nearly twice the price of the XF90mm glass, but I still lust after one.........I like the constant f/2.8 across the focal range, very nice.....!

Lust is an awful thing eh.

I have a fear of variable aperture zooms...
