The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

I've got the 622TX set for manual only. It doesn't talk to the 622 on the flash for some reason. The 603's that I have do talk but I want the ability to group and set levels from on camera.
Tomorrow afternoon I'm free and will scratch my head vigorously!

Nice shots of Jerusalem, it looks like a great place for photography. Why are there so many seats around the wailing wall? Is wailing tiring ? That might explain why SWMBO is always knackered

Nod's post above (#8219) and my earlier posts about use of flash for creative stuff are the reason I probably won't ditch the 5D3. But..the quality from the XT-1 is very good. As I'm not a pixel peeper and am unlikely ever to want to print larger than A3 I can't see many drawbacks to using the mirrorless. I too have given up lugging a full backpack around. My back is like yours - knackered!
Motor sport, and creative studio stuff are what I'll keep FF for, but for everything else I can't see any drawbacks.
But......it isn't a DSLR and you have to start thinking in a different manner.
Interesting to read your comments about creative use of flash after just reading some of Damien Lovegrove's blog - he's gone exclusively Fuji and uses flash and constant lighting very effectively with it. May be worth a look?

My Canon gear went years ago in favour of a X Pro 1 and a couple of lenses, very liberating.
Yes I imagine it would be, sometimes I spend ages trying to decide what gear to take out, and sure as sh!t once I'm out I wish I'd brought something different. Nowadays, probably because I'm still newly enamoured with my XT1 I just take it and my 18-135 and recently my 10-24, those two lens cover pretty much all I need and a combined weight a lot less than my 5D3 with the 24-105 fitted.

I spend some time there and observed the people for a while.
People spend quite a while there praying and they get tired after a while. There are elderly people as well.
Some people sit and form a group and chat to each other bit further away from the wall.
I am sure some other people on this forum with more knowledge about the place can give us more accurate info about the subject.

Should have a 10-24 arriving tomorrow :-) unfortunately when I bought the 14mm I thought I wouldn't be buying the 10-24 at any point, so I purchased a hitech 67mm grad landscape set :-( does anyone use the hitech 85mm with the 10-24? Is it big enough to not cause vignetting?

I'm torn between selling up and buying a 56mm  My sister gets married next year and I remember how much I loved the Nikon 85mm at weddings... or I could just sell and enjoy being a guest :) What to do!?

That wasn't an option! The cost of the system isn't justifying what it's being used for so I can imagine it'll be sold on.

Progress is made with the flash units.
I am now able to get my Canon 580EXII units to fire by using a 622tx on the hotshoe and a 622C on the flash. I'm assuming that it is manual only, but that is sufficient for my purposes.
What did I change? In Menu 4 Flash Control it was set as Commander. I changed that to forced flash and away we go.
I had it on Commander when I was strugling with a Nissin i40 that was somewhat erratic and I couldn't fathom out what I was doing wrong. I wasn't doing anything wrong; the Nissin was faulty. Swapped it for a new one and that too works.
I'm a happy bunny at present. Might not last too long though!!!

I use the Lee Seven5 set, which vignettes on the 10-24 at anything wider than 12mm. However, since I shoot for A4 prints, the cropping takes care of almost all the vignetting.

Thanks Stephen, I'm thinking the slightly larger 85mm's may be Ok but would rather know before buying another set.

It's as much down to the design of the filter holder as the size of the filter. Can you detach the outer slot on the Hitech? I can't remember.

Last time I used the 85mm size I had one of the cheaper plastic holders with the outer holders cut off, so I could always resort to that again.

@Ruffmeister the 12mm is a cracking lens for the money!

I haven't read a bad word about it. The occasional gripe seems to be that it is MF which I don't really see a problem. With focus peaking, I have always found MF a doddle anyway.

Just need to add that 56mm to my line up and I think I will be done (famous last words)!

It's cracking for the price, if you want to be lazy you can even leave at f8 and shoot away with pretty much everything in focus , pretty much what I did with car show pictures as you have to be quick so people don't walk in front of you!

+1 on the not knowing of the tilt shift filter, looks kinda cool :)

I didn't know that too.
I am sure there are many things I still need to find out.
It is a great camera to use and it will take a while to learn.

It is a great camera but I still prefer the output from my X pro1.

Out of curiosity, what is it you prefer from the output of the XP1? I came from an XP1 to the XT10. I didn't think there was a huge difference between the sensors although at times felt the XP1 was a little more natural / filmic(?) but wasn't sure if that was just me overthinking it.

It's hard to put a finger on it, the xp1 shots seem to be a bit "poppier" more saturated. I have a Canon 5d3 and a 5DC and I prefer the output from the older camera, it's more analogue in look.

I think I know what you're saying. It's marginal but there is a difference which can be felt. I'm happy with the upgrade from the XP1 to XT10 however, although wish I kept the XP1 for a second body at times - just so I can have one with a wide lens and one with a standard 35mm. They are so light to transport around.

I know what you mean about the 5DC too. They produce some lovely results and as you say, have an analogue feel to them.

I did keep my xp1 but 95% of the time I'll use the xt1, primarily because it is so much easier to use (imo) and possibly because it's still new to me. I recently ( re) bought a 35mm and it stays pretty much permanently on my xp1, it's a great combo, although the rattliness of it seems much more annoying on the xp1 compared to the xt1.

Anyone using the new XF90mm f/2 on any Fuji X body here yet.....?.......if so, what's your thoughts please?
Another lens ? Dude you're going to have to get your GAS under control :)

lol speak to your bank manager not your shrink, he may have a different opinion. I've found a sure fire way of curtailing GAS, let SWMBO have read of this forum, that'll put paid to fancy schmancy new Fuji glass

My X-T1 arrived today, I do like the size and it feels very comfortable to hold. Looking forward to getting some time with it at the weekend. Still not sure I want to part with my XP1, oh dear
