The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

No worries.

firmware now rumoured for 29th as it's been delayed, so it may well be different to what you guys are using..

@Alan Clogwyn was the problem ES?

Yep looks like another delay ,that's going to mean more people turn to the beta version, which is the thing Fuji don't want people to do,very odd from Fuji, not sure why don't they come out with a statement about it rather than leaving it up to rumor sites

Yeah that was me, bought mine there, with the current exchange rate it's mad to buy of amazon UK. My i40 arrived 2 days after I ordered, I bought my Fuji WCL x-100 from Amazon.es for £193 delivered a saving of nearly £90 compared to WEX and it was delivered in 3 days.

Thanks Jim, great advice [emoji1][emoji1]

What's the difference apart from the box? Used return? Or brand new?

Disappointing to read of possible delay on the firmware update. I guess a couple of days isn't too much of an issue.

Makes the firmware update sitting on my laptop more enticing, but also less so at the same time :D

Yeah, it's tempting but 2 shoots this weekend makes me wary and although I've not read any bad issues with the upgrade, I know how the law of sod works :D

I thought like that, but when you realise a camera is not a computer with infinite possibilities for hardware and software incompatibilities that can cause issues you'll see If it works for everyone who's using it so far (which it is doing now we've all got the right settings checked ) it'll work for you too.

Not sure where all this beta stuff is coming from, Fuji have said they don't do Beta testing, they have never done it in the past and it IS labelled as 4.00, if it wasn't the real deal then I firmly believe it would not have been labelled as such. It's normal practice for non final firmware to be numbered below the release version and made expressly clear to anyone it's given to, this one isn't and I don't see why they'd do it differently for version 4.

I'm not sure how Fuji firmware version number is reported during the update, there is certainly evidence that it MAY be possible to revert to older firmware, but there is also an error message for trying to install the same firmware twice. I'm fairly certain that's what's going to happen when I download the official release, if they ever get round to releasing it.

Of course I don't work for Fuji so I cannot prove any of this!

I think they're split kits. DR don't sell refurbs so not sure what else it could be.

Yeah the 18-55s are from split kits, I emailed them. Pretty good price for new, don't think they're as cheap as that used on ebay.

The original thread I saw the update from on Facebook claimed it was a final version given to them by a Fuji employee... Possibly ex if they find out who it was. It does make you wonder if it is final why the delay in release. Could be political, could be a gripe.

Albeit my XT-1 is out of warranty, I have work to do with it that given any issues coming from an unofficial source will simply cause in required stress.

Tempting as it is, it's just one less concern simply to wait a few more days for the official release.

Could be due to the release of the XT-10 which seem not out worldwide yet, didn't it happen last time with the graphite XT-1, new firmware was due to be released but camera release date was put back, and so was the firmware :)

TBH I'm not really surprised. It'll come soon enough. A bit like Simons X-T10. :D

Just ordered the extended eye cup, see if it makes any difference. Not that i have any complaints anyway but i thought it was worth a go for 13 quid.

I think that could well be the case Simon, although the release of the X-T10 should have little bearing on any X-T1 firmware upgrade. They're different cameras aren't they.

Im waiting on eye cup as well

I've found the Eye-Cup to be really useful when using the camera in view format, but not quite so good in portrait format as it tends to stick into your cheek and just below your eye brow preventing me from getting my eye as close to the viewfinder as I like. I personally would have preferred it to have been the round variety and a little bit softer.

George.

As a spectacle wearer I find the eyecup invaluable. I got mine fairly easily from Ffordes.

That would make more sense tbh George. Didn't someone alter theirs for a Nikon aftermarket eyecup?

I believe they did David, but I can't find that posting anywhere and it might not even have been on here. I've tried adapting one from my Nikon bits but as yet not much luck.

I had a thing a little while ago about getting some shots of local Musicians, and here's three of those shots.
These were shot on an X-T1 with a 55-200mm lens.

All helps to keep this terrific X-T1/10 thread going strong.

Anyone who's upgraded early with v4 care to comment on the manual exposure compensation update.... I like it on 'auto' mode, just wondering how it is in manual...

It's just an extension of Auto ISO really, you need the ISO dial in A for it to work, plus of course it's limited by the iso range you still have left. (IE if you're at ISO 5000 already then you can only go +1/3ev on exposure compensation). The nice thing is though the indicator in the viewfinder will max out, so in the same situation though you could keep on turning the dial, the display will not go higher than the 1/3ev mark.

It's not a dealbreaker by any means but it does save going into the menu to adjust auto iso shutter speed since you can simply select the shutter speed on the dial now and it will stick to it. Aperture+Shutter priority mode perhaps rather than full manual.

Selecting a fixed ISO, aperture and shutter speed still locks out exposure compensation giving full manual control.

I like those George, especially the middle one. Were they taken abroad?

Thanks for that David, appreciated.(y)

But nothing further than Canterbury (Kent).:)

Thats interesting George. I'll let you know how i get on with it

Further to this, my grip was waiting for me today, when I returned from a weeks hol in the Yorkshire Dales. Sods Law I didn't have it before I went away! Anyway, it's a well-made bit of kit, with positive controls and a nice grippy cover. The on-off lock is particularly positive and not likely to be knocked. Although I've not yet been out with it, it seems to work as promised. It fits the hand nicely and isn't too cumbersome, unlike Olympus grips. I haven't tried the wireless remote yet.
And even further to this, I'm now returning the grip as the clip doesn't hold the battery in. Although shutting the battery door does hold it in, the connection is unreliable therefore unacceptable.

Quite like them, not so sure about the water mark in the middle. Thinking of getting a 55-200 once I`ve sold the Panny 35-100. Have you done lot off PP and what was the focal length used. I take it you like the lens:)TIA

Thanks for that Keith, appreciate your comments.(y)

First of all matey, I don't normally put my Copyright in that position except when I feel there's a possibility that someone might want to use my shots for commercial purposes without my permission or paying me (as I earn a fair proportion of my living from photography).;)

Very little PP work has been done just a bit of colour correction to my taste (as I shoot 100% RAW) and a tiny bit of sharpening and I mean a tiny bit.

They were all shot in aperture priority mode @ 200-ISO using manual focus.

1st shot :- 1/160th @ F5.6 with 90.4 focal length.
2nd shot :- 1/140th @ F5 with 90.4 focal length.
3rd shot :- 1/90th @ F7.1 with 134.5 focal length.

And yes I absolutely love this lens, it's optically as good as anything I have used of equivalent focal length.:)

Hope this helps you and answers all your questions.,

George.
