The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Thanks Minnt, I remember that now you say it. Just ordered one, never used Amazon Germany before, it says delivery on Tuesday, seems too good to be true?!

Amazon.de i believe. There is a link in said for sale thread. About £110.
Yeah that was me, bought mine there, with the current exchange rate it's mad to buy of amazon UK. My i40 arrived 2 days after I ordered, I bought my Fuji WCL x-100 from Amazon.es for £193 delivered a saving of nearly £90 compared to WEX and it was delivered in 3 days.

Another thing, as you're buying within the EU there's no vat or import duty and I beleive because of EU legislation warranty has to be honored. Amazon.es is generally cheaper, but you have to compare the two,as prices do vary. Delivery is generally 2-3 days, faster in my experience than that of Amazon.co.uk. What cracked me up was the label on both packages, in the event of non delivery they were to be returned to an Amazon warehouse in Scotland !

Oh by the way I sorted out my washed out reds - It WAS Colour space, the camera was in Adobe, all this time I thought I'd been using sRGB, now I am everything's fine. It was getting converted by Lightroom on import, hence I had never seen the output files so affected.

Anyone tried the xt10 yet? Hows the EVF? I know it's smaller than the xt1 but is everything else the same, does the display still tilt in portrait etc?

Their seem to be a shortage in the UK,hopefully will get my pre order this week and will report back :)

Cheers mate look forward to it, debating used xt1 or the new t10. Had an xt1 before, best camera I've owned.

It does rotate!

On the software side of things, the X-T1 and X-T10 offer viewfinder rotation, while the X-E2 does not. The same applies to the updated UI. And finally, X-T1’s “DUAL” Mode when focusing manually is absent in either the X-T10 or X-E2.

Given I traded in 2 of my 3 XE2 bodies against an XT1 which is arriving on Wednesday I'm looking forward to joining in this thread

I for one Karen, will be looking forward to your input.(y)

George.

Welcome to the busiest owners thread on the forum, I'm sure you'll have plenty to offer

Is the 16-50 worth it for the extra £100 when you can get the 18-55 for £199 from digitalrev?

I've only got the 18-55 so I'm not sure. The 16-50 is highly thought of though. Would suit someone new to the system or someone who always shoots primes that fancies a light zoom to carry.

I've had both lenses and image quality is essentially the same. The 16-50mm is lighter and has the 16mm end (very useful), whilst the 18-55mm is better built, therefore heavier but has a wider Max aperture, an extra 5mm at the portrait end and an aperture ring.

I just kept the 16-50mm and used the 18-55mm money to buy a fast prime.

AF is fast on both zooms BTW.

I'm having a few troubles with my xe2, and I'm wondering if the xt1 will solve them...

But first my thoughts on the 23mm
I think the 23mm is too big on the xe2, I might replace it with the 18mm or the 27mm, or maybe just the 35mm and shoot differently, especially as I'm not enjoying the 23mm'd depth of field, probably since I'm comparing it to a 35mm 1.4, where you get width and shallow depth of field, comparing the 23mm against the sony 35 1.4 (I know it's ridiculously more expensive...) but the deph of field seems to be more equivalent to f2.8 than to f2 (maybe 2.2/2.5), you can certainly get
Bokeh, but you have to get in quite close, so I feel the 35mm might work better for this kind of shooting anyway

All I want is a true 35mm f2, or 35mm f2 equivalent- maybe mitakon will make a 23mm 0.95 that will solve all my problems, or maybe sony will release a successor to the rx1, or someone will release a 35 f2 for e mount...

The quality of the rear screen...compared to the sony a7 it's rubbish, and then comparing the a7 to a canon 5d3/6d the a7 screen looks crap and the xe2 looks even worse. Is the xt1 xt10 any better? The first time I used the xe2 I was expecting the worst after seeing them on the screen but was pleasantly surprised by the quality when I got them onto the computer, but I want to feel confident I've got the shot before I get home, the bad colours and the inability to really show the full dynamic range of the shot make the camera unsuitable for me

Auto iso in manual mode. I'm used to the sony's ability here, I can set aperture and shutter speed, and auto iso controls exposure, which I can bias by using exposure comp, afaik the fuji won't do this, so I mainly shoot fully manual but in the fuji world it's an utter pain to have to press a button to then adjust iso, with sony I have it mapped to the wheel, instant control, and the iso reading doesn't obscure the entire screen

Evf is worlds better than the xe1 but still isn't as good as the a7, especially in low light where the xe2 completely falls apart and the a7 holds up, but I remember the a7s I used being so good it made the a7 look broken by comparison. Is the xt1 any better in low light? Or is it just the same evf but magnified a bit

I don't think I like the shutter wheel as much as I thought I would, admittedly I have 200,000 shots with the dial based 5d and a7 but I just can't seem to find a groove with the shutter wheel- maybe the xt1 can have shutter control on a dial? The xt1 has 3 dials- can you get it to shutter on the front dial, iso on the back and aperture on the lens?

I think I can visualise my perfect camera system, and it's frustrating that it doesn't exist aha

I have given a short reply on your post in the XE-2 thread. I have tagged twist so hopefully he can answer your questions better, as I believe he has owned the following cameras. A7, A7S & XT1

Well just tried the 55-200 for some tracking tests.... no improvement whatsoever. Not a single in focus picture of a moving dog using continuous focus.

Zone tracking, rectangular 9 point zone AFC, CH f3.5

Have you seen this:

TRACKING TIPSFor AF-tracking with CL or CH (focus between each shot), you have to use Mechanical Shutter (MS) only. It doesn’t work with MS+ES (electronic shutter) enabled
+
Turn Off face detection to enable PDAF
+
High Performance Mode ON

Well that's interesting, looks like firmware 4.1 is going to need to look at this! :p

@T_J_G Thankyou! That has finally solved my tracking issues - it now works indoors with the 60mm macro, so yeh that's an improvement!
