The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Has anyone ever compared an XT-1 with 23mm lens and an X100S/T? just wondering what the IQ would be like between them. I know the 23mm is an f1.4 but really tempted by a used x100s instead of forking out for the 23mm.
Just a thought.....

Yes an XE-2 23mm and a X100s,i sold the X100s :)

Well it may be worth dropping into your local Curry's. Apparently they're selling them off for £375... :wideyed:
I saw that on the Fuji Facebook page. It was for a X100S display model in PC World, last in shop. Still a bargain as long as it wasn't scratched etc from being handled by a load of customers.

I'm interested to see comparisons before and after of the new firmware with regard to speed of AF. I've read reviews and seen videos comparing X-T1 vs Olympus OMD-EM1 and the E-M1 focus is said to be by some (and I quote) "light years faster". I'm not bashing the Fuji. Far from it. I just want the facts so I can decide what to buy. I'm about to upgrade my old Panasonic G2 micro four thirds and have been looking at getting an OMD-E-M10 or moving over to Fuji X-T10. Fuji attracts me for better sensor and shallower DOF. The OMD cams attract me because of the IBIS and supposedly faster focusing. The later being important to me for shots of my moving kids!

All i can say being a previous E-M10 owner is that you won't be capturing any kids with it. Or indeed anything at all with AF-C if that is your plan. It has absolutely shocking AF-C performance. Single shot, single focus it is probably quicker though. Their 25 and 45 lenses are razor sharp and the sensor captures so much detail it is quite unbelievable tbh. Again, probably more so than the Fuji. The Fuji is a much nicer system though and is more capable with regards to focusing. AF-S is still lightening quick but the tracking ability is now the shizzle to match.

So I am assuming UK stores do not have the X-T10 yet, my wex preorder is still on back order with no indication of when they will receive shipment. Was planning on using it on a mtb trip in south peak district ...

Think my X-T10 upgrade plan is shelved for now, Wex have sent the XP1 back as they couldn't remove the dust :(

Anyone tried calling Wex?
I didn't call, I had a live chat... no more info really other than they expect them very very soon and when I asked for a date they just gave me a bit of marketing speach about their relationship with Fuji and that they will be one of the first to get them in the UK... make out of it whatever you can/want given that Amazon in the states has delivered pre-orders already :)

Are the X-T10 cams shipping with the new firmware on them? If stateside orders have been shipped already then we should start seeing reviews of the final product appearing on youtube by amateurs and the likes. It's going to be interesting to see what it's like.

Are you saying the E-M10s AF-C performance is worse, better or the same as the Fuji X-T1?
What about the E-M1? I gather the E-M1 has better focus than the E-M10 and E-M5 because it has the phase detect focus included as well?

You say "probably more so than the Fuji" when you talk about sensor detail. Surely the Fuji sensor captures more detail? Did you mean that?

I mean that the E-M10 captures a tonne of detail. You can count individual eye lashes.

The E-M10's AF-S is quicker than the X-T1 imo (as in half a nano second etc) but the AF-C is dire. Probably the worse AF-C ever invented. Ever. The E-M1 is much better as it recieved a firmware update not so long a go. Pretty sure its PDAF was for the older carry over lenses from the older 4/3 system. Whether the new firmware has changed that and opened it up to current native lenses i don't know. Ask about it in the Oly owners thread, they're a pretty friendly bunch. Just watch that @damianmkv he's a little bit wayyyyyy, a little bit wooooooo.

Coooo-eeeee

I spoke to them, same marketing speech but still no idea when they will be in :(

Presumably because they announced too early and don't have sufficient supply.

In computer circles this is referred to as a 'paper launch', we have had the announcements, a few reviews, some comparisons but no products on shelves!

Pretty crap really. Why are other countries getting them and the UK aren't?

Same. I'm currently without a camera as I traded in my XE-1. All I'm getting is a shrug of the shoulders when asking. I don't mind a wait but need to know when until.

Just spoke to Wex very  conversation, the Live Chat said they had some in but only pre orders,so rang the shop and told them had a pre order will i be getting mine, they say not sure if they have had them in yet, more ,it seem to me they had some stock in,but not enough to cover pre orders.
So it could be a bit of a wait (n)

Curiosity got the better of me and against my own advice I installed Firmware v4.

Just checked Amazon US,got stocks of both the Black & Silver XT-10 in for sale, seem the US market got most of the stock, very bad on Fuji part

I agree, but if they are for sale in the US,and we in the UK cant even get are pre orders, thats very bad on the part of Fuji (n)

Brilliant customer service. Nvmd theyll give uk users a FW upgrade that makes all the menus in UK english. Like 'HDR innit' mode.

I no feel Fuji have let down their UK customer in this case,Wex say hopefully some more in next week,i feel that Fuji should have fulfill their pre orders 1st worldwide (n)

It's pretty annoying that they can't sort the stock out on Day 1, but in fairness not sure they ever promised a worldwide simultaneous launch so you can't say they have not fulfilled a promise.

How it working out ? :)

Well it works! First things of note are eye detection only works on humans, face detection is pretty good and doesn't need a full unobstructed face to work. Af seems more reliable in low light except on the 60mm which would still rather say a full shot of blur is in focus than actually try focussing closer than 0.5m, it is a bit quicker at deciding this though.
