Having used mine with the card door off I don't think I'd trust it in too much water from above.
 
I fancy a 2nd camera had the X-E1 & the X-E2 thought i might try the XPro any one on here used one? Theres one on classifieds at the mo for a hefty £295, its about £30 chesper at the refurb store. Its that or another X-E2 anyone had both?
 
Where does the new Xt10 stand in the lineup,seems to come with the 16-50, is that any good?

Thing i found with the XP was that it is HUGE! I'm enjoying my time with the X-E1 atm, I have found that Lr doesn't drastically alter the files on import like it sometimes seems to with the newer sensor. I experienced this with my little X's too, the XF1 files imported fine but the X20 files didn't.

Snake, the X-T10 will run below the X-T1 but slightly above the X-E2 i think. Well, kind of at a same level but with the new AF system it will appeal to more users i think. It is available to buy with both the 16-50 and the 18-55 kit lenses. Both are very good optically but the 16-50 isn't as well made.

I love my XP1 but it is an idiosyncratic camera, but once you get used to it it's excellent. My fear is now I have the XT1 the Xpro won't get used so much.
 
I'm considering one of these bodies for portrait work. I like the smaller form factor, but worry still that the AF is a little ropy. Can users confirm that v4 has solved it?

Also, the lens lineup puts me off. What are the really good lenses? It didn't look like there is much in the telephoto range...
 
V4 isn't out till end of the month.

Have the 18-135, 50-140, 55-200, 55-230 and a 100-400 next year.

The really good lenses are... All of them

New firmware rarely solves hardware issues, it can improve them with different features and speed things up a little with new algorithms but it doesnt revolutionise the product. I know you have used the D700, theres no comparison, the D700 spanks it hard. The lenses are actually very good though.

Standouts for me are... Im not really a zoom user unless it a 70-200 2.8.
23 1.4
35 1.4 (slowest to AF but good optics and cheap)
56 1.2

Fast tele.... theres the 50-140 but fast zooms with mirrorless are generally big and you lose the advantage you are looking for.

It's a 70-200 equivalent that I'm missing in that lineup. I don't expect it to be as good as a D700 AF wise, but does it work?

No youre not, 50-140 is 70-200 @ 35mm equivish. Well.... 75-210. Its an APSC sensor. It works, much better than the previous Fujis. Shooting conditions? What setting do you use on the Nikon for AF?
 
But it's slow, isn't it?

I use single point AF almost exclusively and chose whichever point I need manually.
 
I paid £1100 I think but then there's cashback at the min. Think it worked out about £1600 for the 16-55 & 50-140 2.8s after cashback

The Fuji is almost as big as a Nikon and 70-200 2.8, change the Nikkor lens for the F4 version on a FF Nikon and you have the same DOF, weight wont be far off and the Nikon will still be cleaner to achieve the same exposure.

That's a consideration, but most of my stuff is with fast primes so I'll make savings in weight there.

35 and 50 primarily on FF, but something longer and wider is also useful. I've never been entirely happy with my lens lineup.

Btw, I currently have no camera at all, but circumstances dictate that I must make money from photography again.

Lets say these are your basic setup...

So thats the 23.14 and 35 1.4 with Fuji = 855 or the 35 1.8g FX and 50 1.8g = £520, the Fuji 70-200 2.8 is £1065 and the Nikon 70-200 f4 is £900

Fuji = 1920 vs Nikon 1420

XT1 = £800 D610 = 1184

Package = F = £2720 N = £2604

I personally wouldnt use a Fuji to make money with, you can but imo there are better options. Fuji is not a cheap system if that has anything to do with your purchase, and thats APSC vs FF.

Hope you do buy Fuji because there will be some cheap gear available in the classifieds 3 days after you buy it. :D

There is a 90mm f2 coming out soon and it looks to be awesome from the sample pics.

And all the bumf you hear about it being slow, it focuses in about 2 nano seconds. 50-140mm f2.8 ftw!
 
The larger factor there is that there are much better used options for Nikon.

I have no qualms about shooting pro with Fuji. The advantage of weight has to be major or it's not worth it.

Not just used, but also new options.

How do you know if you havent tried? Or do you mean in a brand sense?

Best bet, get to a shop or get online and start checking size/weight comparisons to build up your package but remember to keep it equiv. Im not bashing Fuji, it is a superb system (that Ive used a lot) but for a pro I think there are better options for a main system.
