The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Yeah, though they haven't officially commented on the big upgrade, so maybe that has been delayed? I don't mind - better af would be nice, but I had the XT1 as my only camera on a trip this weekend (unusual because I usually bring a film camera of some sort) and it performed really well for me, so I'm happy enough as is. Everything else is just icing!

Yep, my feelings too. It is alot more camera than i need. I haven't really found it to be wanting in anything i have thrown at it up to yet. Always good to keep the development shifting forward though.

Wonder how many owners will migrate to the XP2 when it is released...

I got that Meike Flash off Amazon the other day... bit plasticy but seems solid enough. Will do me for my needs, mainly pictures of the kids indoors etc.

If your wife can use this camera it must be women proof lol as I like something my mrs can use

Do all the lens have aperture ring on them then I would guess so as I think that how we alter aperture??

Hmm need test one out.

All but the 27mm

Also the XC lenses don't have aperture ring, like the 16-50 & 50-230mm which are good lenses for the price. As been mentioned, use the control wheel to alter aperture.

What lenses have you bought Adam and how are you finding the XT1 over your Canon gear?

That was a good guess

Was it altered or straight out of camera

PP in camera must be a good one then

I havent got it yet, waiting for some money to come in from work over the next month or so.

But im pretty set on getting the 16, 23, 16-55 and the 50-140 now with the large hand grip aswell.

I'm also waiting for some money to come in for a long lens on my D750. Will then start looking/saving at purchasing a XT1 again, fantastic cameras. I only sold mine as they delayed the Supertele as I have got into bird photography. Bought and tried the 55-200 & 50-230mm but both a little too short for my needs.

As your a d750 owner and had a xt1 if the right lens comes would u sell up Nikon and just have Fuji.

Lol suppose it no cheaper owning one of these over a Dslr lol

Is it really that much smaller I just can't get shop to look and plan order online

I wouldn't have sold the XT1 if the Supertele hadn't been delayed. Due to disabilities I was also struggling with MF using a Tokina 100-300mm F4, which performed excellent on the XT. I tried to make the system work for me, but in the end, it wasn't for my current needs. I need lenses with AF and VR if possible.

With Nikon, as you know there are more choices for long lenses, but if the 120-400mm Fuji lens is good I would possibly go back to the Fuji as one system. I was happy with the AF performance for garden bird photogrpahy and I prefered the JPEG's SOOC over the D750. With the D750 I feel you need to shot in RAW to get all the detail out of the sensor, for me, I cant be arsed sometimes with PP.

My ideal situation would be to have both, which I hope to do. The XT for going out and the D750 for home use and garden bird photography, we back onto woodlands so we have a lot of wildlife in the garden. With the XT, I was content just going out with the body and 35mm f1.4 lens, I could manage that one handed.

The other thing for me is how expensive the 120-400mm is going to be, at a guess I would say around £1200 - £1500, perhaps even more if you compare the new Nikon 80-400 which is £1899. For £699 I can get the Nikon 300mm f4 for tripod use and a Tamron 70-300mm VC for handholding/Monopod??? which costs about £230.00 currently.

I've started to shoot JPEG recently on the d750 have always shoot raw with all camera. But recently started get fed up so started shooting JPEG since the image preview on camera is showing a JPEG rather than the raw as when it comes to import to LR I got annoyed all images became different as expected

One of my first shots using the XT1 and 35mm, last August 2014. For me, I had my walking stick in one hand and I could shoot this one handed, so this makes the camera ideal for me.

The pic is a SOOC JPEG. With a little tweaking I could have lifted the shadows, particularly on the LHS.

Face detection AF :D
It's one of the reasons I moved to Fuji for mirrorless and I absolutely love it - it works so well and really helps when giving the camera to other people!

Love the pic that started this by the way - our second is 9 weeks old, so going through some of the same things myself! :)

Got my M42-XF adapter and the Helios 44-M-4 58mm f2 today except turns out I bought 2 of them off eBay :) So one will probably make it's way into the classifieds shortly... Both look in excellent condition anyway

There is someone after one in the wanted forum.

You'll love it. Does it have the A-M switch? If not then the mod to allow you to change apertures is very simple.

My 50-140 has arrived. Still boxed up...

Get it unboxed

Probably got a nappy to change first ...

Bless she comes first am sure u get time later to unboxed it. Be interested hear how it performed

Dont think it has the A/M switch... What is the mod David? I'm using the cheaper £9 m42 adapter off amazon by the way

Ok, so, the 50-140.... It's HUGE!!! Focus is quick and grabs really quickly. It is also sharp as a tack wide open. 140mm at f2.8 offers a nice compromise of compression and shallow depth of field for subject seperation which is good. OIS is very good. Excellent infact! It's pretty heavy and i definately need to sort out a grip of some sort, probably the large hand grip.

Couple of pics for ya's!
