The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Nah, second. It's took 7 years though so it's like another first.

My eldest daughter is 22 and my youngest daughter is 7 weeks old tomorrow! The daughter in the middle is 3 years old in a couple of months. The eldest one is a motor-racing photographer too! :D

Been studying samples and tests for the 18-135mm all morning and it certainly looks like a lens I should own. Trouble is I don't want to part with any existing gear to fund it! Guess I'm going to have to hunt out a bargain!

Keep an eye on the classifieds here, people buy the refurb kit from fuji and sell the lens seperate to make the body cheaper.

Hi all

Sorry for the possible n00b quality of this post but hopefully you guys can help me out.

I'm thinking of switching from a canon 5d mki to an xt-1, mainly due to the size and weight of the slr putting me off lugging it round especially when I have my kids with me.

My main go to lenses are a 28-70 2.8L and a 70mm prime 1.4.

Just wondering as to your thoughts as to the switch over firstly, and more importantly good lens equivalents to the two I mention above, particularly for low light use?

Many thanks in advance :)

16-55 2.8, 56 1.2, 50-140 2.8. All big and expensive but not as much as their full frame counterparts. The 16-55 for example only weighs 650g (ish), but compared to an xt1 it is big.

Also the newest primes (14,16,23,56) are all meant to be decent lenses

Yes, she uses a Fuji. :D

Now that's a gap!!

Actually, she uses a Canon despite me trying to get her to swap! :D

She's more sensible than I am in that she's always been happy with what she's got. She's been using a Fuji X20 for some pit lane work though. :)

The 35mm and 56mm lenses are stunning bits of glass... Certainly as good as anything that either Canon or Nikon have produced! I know where there's a 56mm going at the moment too! ;)

Hi All,

I can't seem to find the thread which talked about which Yongnuo Flash Triggers work with the XT-1. Can anyone help me with which model number I need? I think it was the RF603 but not sure which fitment.

Many thanks, Jim.

Hi Jim. I use the 560 system and it works fine. It can control up to 6 560iii or 560iv flashes all from the tx unit on camera.

With reference to the 603's, it's the Canon version that the thread was talking about but I'm sure I've read that the Nikon version works also.

Hi David,
I have the 602's from my old Nikon D7000 but these don't work. What tx do you use on your camera? or do use the flah as a commander to set of the others?
Apologies for all the questions :-) - just want to make sure I order the right ones from Amazon.

Thanks again,

The 603's for Canon work on the Fuji's which would be the cheapest route if you already have manual flashes. But as David said already the 560tx along with 560 mk3 or 4 flashes gives you full control from on camera.

Have a play - if it's too cr@p, use it as an excuse to get something else!!! TBH, it's not really crap, just not perfect. Should be good enough for the lady to check her position.

Hi,

Didn't realise you could get a dedicated 560tx! and its only £10 more than a pair of 603's. I have 1 x 560iii yongnuo flash, so the 603's would suffice but if I got the 560tx then I could add more.
Job done, back to Amazon to order :-)

Many thanks for all the help guys.

Oh well, it's not the reason I bought it (in fact I forgot all about video- function until I looked at the manual). I'll have a play with it anyway.

I currently live in the Falkland Islands (due to work) and I have used the video function a fair bit down here - we have huge colonies of pengiuns, elephant seals etc, and I was interested in making a couple of videos. the XT-1 is not as good as my old Nikon D7000 but its good enough for home movies or youtube stuff.

Thanks James, good to know.

This probably won't mean anything to anyone, but I reached uncharted territory today, pin sharp 1/10th of a second handheld for a car comfortably doing 90mph...

Do u follow car to take that shoot can't believe it at low speed

So what's your prefered setup Chris for jpeg shooting? Sharpness, NR etc.

Er, JPEG! I haven't touched any other settings, so all default. There is no way I'm shooting motorsport in RAW, files are huge and there is little point as I just crop them, adjust curves with a preset and job done. Can work through 1k pictures in about an hour.

Nope just stood still, it's not easy, you've got to be ultra smooth. I took 20 at 1/10th and got 4 sharp keepers.

So everything at 0 then. Cheers.

Also, i know it probably says in your blog, but are these with OIS off? I don't believe the 50-140 has stabilisation like CaNikon does it where you can set it to mode 1 or 2 etc.

Ta.
