The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

I've really not used the 23 yet but the 56 I'm happy with. Was shooting some indoor baby shots a few weeks ago using the 56 and OCF so the room was quite dim and it handled the situation as well as I could hope.

In saying that it was the one day I slightly missed a DSLR.

haha unfortunately iv told the mrs that if im getting all this gear then ill take her away to paris (to use the camera obviously :)) so cant afford both :(

Anyone got experience of the cheaper 50-230 on an XT1, considering getting one to see me through the motorsport season as I have a few visits to Brands planned.

Oh poo! Just did the online form for the cashback and the X-T1 & 18-55 counts as one and the lens doesn't count separately so I don't get £300 cashback for buying 2 lenses, just £200. I should have bought body & lens separately, would have been about £20 more but I'd have been £80 better off after cashback. :(

Damn that 23 looks awesome!!!

Just asking for no reason what so ever... How do the 23 and 56 focus in darker situations?

23mm and 56mm are both awesome on the XT-1. You could argue that the 23mm is the pick of the bunch prime lens wise at present.

Had a couple of days away by the coast and took the chance to get used to the X-T1. First impressions are very good, half the weight of the 7D and easy to use. Working on a few pics to publish, here's the first, taken with the 18-55mm kit lens.

Not sure if it's the done thing to post pics here - happy to remove if not.

Not strictly an X-T1 question but has anyone had experience of the approximate delay in receiving the cashback? Got my email saying it was "approved" on 23rd March and still not seen any cash.

Popped into Castle Combe for an hour this afternoon to take a load of shots for an (ever growing) Fuji Motorsport guide I'm putting together, had a bit of fun at the end just for myself...

I bought an X30 earlier on this year Ian, and the overall time for the cashback to arrive took five and a half weeks. The original receipt took an additional two weeks to get back to me.

George.

Thanks George. Not noted for their speed then. I did note the 21 day thing on the website, but wondered if it would be the full 21 (working) days, or less. Some people say 21 days but turn it around in a couple. Not Fuji...

Apparently it's not Fuji that handle the cashback claims Ian, but an outside company. When I emailed them about the delay on my claim they replied promptly saying it was due to the festivity seasonal amount of claims. I presume they meant christmas but my claim went to them in early February.

A full 21 days for my £500 lens cashback, came through a few weeks ago, the receipts came back (stuffed in a handwritten envelope!) on Friday.

Fuji themselves have no direct involvement in the cashback, think it was the same company when I got Panasonic cashback a few years ago.

any one seen any new offers regarding the XT-1 & lenses or did they all finish at the end of March ?
just looking for a few other price options before i pull the trigger.

My X-30 cashback took the full 21 days. Plus the 2 weeks before I could apply. As said, the cashback is dealt with by a 3rd party and the 2 weeks delay is as a result of some people buying from places like Argos, sending off the paperwork then returning the camera for a refund...

Can't give you any clues about using it for motorsport but I have used it for wildlife and the IQ is very good but I think the AF is just that bit too slow compared to a DSLR. Here's a couple of examples.

nice shots Andy! love the first one of the Otter.

Here's one for you all! ...
if you were to choose only TWO lenses to compliment the XT-1 and cost is irrelevant!!!! ... what would those be?. Lets say for general purpose use,
i'm thinking a few will be edging toward 56 and 50-140 or 35 and 50-140 but what do i know

lol forgot about the 16-55 f2.8

are you happy with 2 zooms?...

the question is from a purely selfish view to be honest. It boils down to the real reason i'm switching from a DSLR system to a compact one! ...

I favour the wide end of the lens spectrum, so I'd go for the 10-24mm and Samyang's 8mm fisheye. I think there's a lot of fun to be had with a fisheye.

:runaway::runaway::runaway::runaway::runaway::runaway::runaway::runaway:

Nope my head can't cope with that. If cost was irrelevant I'd own them all and take them out two at a time depending on what I'm shooting

If forced down to two, I'd have the 14 & 56 as long as I'm still allowed to keep my X100S. But if that had to go it would be the 23 & 56

23 and 50-140.

Feel sad that I have to leave the 56 out though! If I didn't shoot Motorsport it would be 23/56 all day long.

Must agree Chris. I always wanted the 8-15 f4"L" when i had my Canon stuff! ... some of the images on Flickr and Pintrest with fisheye lenses are stunning

you are now all taking the p*** ... sneaking in more than two lenses is not acceptable ;) ...i suppose its a testament to the quality of the Fujinon glass

I'm enjoying playing with the panorama function - just a gimmick I thought - but the results seem reasonable.

It would be great to hear your hints and tips for getting the best out of the panorama mode.

Here's one of my first attempts, taken from the top of Arnside Knott, Cumbria.

Better than I expected for a hand-held series of shots.

I have the 10-22mm and an 8mm fisheye for the Canon, so I'm struggling to justify another fisheye, but I can see something like a Samyang 12mm on the horizon!

23mm and 56mm. Easy decision really!

Possibly even the 23 and the 50-140 but then I'd worry about not having wide enough...
