Pretty sure that an OCF lead for a Canon will work 100% with a Fuji - all the required contacts are made. However, the same doesn't apply to the flashguns themselves, you'll need a Fuji dedicated flash for a Fuji (for TTL, not sure about fully manual, although I would think that any lead would supply the necessary contact to simply fire the flash, the other pins just do the controlling of power etc.)

Got my Helios today, it's quite a nice lens, especially to say how mass produced they were and how much they go for nowadays. Need to perform some minor surgery i think though to be able to stop it down although it will probably be used wide open most of the time. Would like to compare sharpness at f2.8 though.

Is the lens stuck wide open David? Seems OOF or very soft on my screen for the whole picture or is it PP? When I had mine it was very sharp when stopped down a little, maybe f4.

Then again, part of the fun of buying these old lenses is finding how they perform.

Talk about good news and bad! Am in the process of cataloguing all my old Sony gear and also going through accessories that I no longer need (tripods & stuff) and was looking through a box of 'bits' to find a QR plate. I then found 2 Circular polarisers.

Good news: the 62mm fits the 55-200mm

Bad news: The 55mm is too small for the 18-55mm

Would rather it was the other way round if I'm honest.
 
I have the 560 system for ocf Nod so that isn't an issue. What i wanted was hss ocf. If the lead works then I'm good. Won't be killing the sun but it would be nice for some fill.

Simon, the lens doesn't have the A-M switch so it requires some surgery for me to be able to stop it down. Just need to find some time to do it! That was at f2. It's by no means the sharpest lens but it's ok for me to have a play around with when out and about.
 
What's all the fuss about the 12mm samyang ? ...how good a lens is it?
 
Picked up the 56mm today :)

Does anyone know when the new 16mm and updated 35mm are coming out?

It's a good buy if you like that ultra wide field of view.

It's cheap when compared to fuji lenses and most of it's shortcomings (like barrel distortion and vignetting) are corrected easily in Lightroom.

I'm pretty sure the 16mm will be this side of the summer and 35mm closer to the end of the year - either way the 16-35-56 combo is a must for me.

On the 56mm there's not much I can say that hasn't already been said. It's an excellent lens! I've owned it before though so I know what to expect ;)
 
finding it harder to decide on what lens combo i will eventually go for when i buy into the system! .. i'm a 50% street photographer and 25% landscape/25% portraiture
thinking of just 2 lenses to begin with ....any one got any suggestions ??????? never been this hard spending money.

Really depends on your budget and whether you prefer primes or zooms.

If I were you I'd probably go 14 (or wait for 16), 23 and 56.

He hasn't, although he didn't seem so sure (particularly the size) when I asked him. He's never struck me as a zoom shooter anyway from everything he's posted/blogged.

I'm dragging my heels a bit with my blog post I know, still putting together my site and trying to look after a 7wk old at the same time :D
 
So surgery to the Helios 44m-4 58/2 is complete. Feel like some pro now... :LOL:

David, the fixed Helios seems a lot better. Cracking little lens for £20.00 or so. The focus on the one I had was so smooooth, like butter. Probably the nicest old lens I have owned and I have had a few. Also good for macro with a set of tubes.

was thinking around the 1k to 1200 for lenses... dont mind HK stuff as I've bought from Panamoz and had no problems... good service to be honest
 
Well why not look at the 23 1.4 and 56 1.2. About £1100 from digital rev
 
I think if you shopped wise you could get all three for £1200.

The 23mm and 56mm would leave you short of a wide landscape lens
 
anyone else switched over from Canon 5D3 (or similar) ..to the XT-1 ? ...just like to know what i'm in for.
 
D750 to X-T1...no regrets whatsoever. Very happy with a very brave choice considering I shoot weddings, Motorsport and wildlife amongst other things!

Don't buy the 16-55 or 50-140 then ;)

Although they are still smaller than their full frame counterparts...

had a look at the 50-140 on a recent visit to Wilkinson's .... its a fair size lol
