The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Yes the Fuji port is definitely micro as are all android phones I've owned. Not had a problem with any of the leads I own.

Interesting. It didn't seem to fit when I tried it but then I'm always a little cautious with these things and didn't want to force it. I'll give it another try.

Did you update the firmware for the camera & the lens?

I did the camera but, when I tried the lens (18-55), it said there wasn't a file available. It showed the lens firmware as 3.11, is that the latest?

Well I decided to only take the 16-55 and 55-200 on holiday and I m glad I did. The 16-55 is just stunning

Yeah I've seen em at that price. £50 is quite a bit of money though.

It is,but as an early Fuji adopt been caught out on quite a few high prices,so i was thinking if i could hold on a bit longer, see what come up in Fuji refurbish shop :)

So im thinking now that I want to start travelling a bit more, a bit of street photography and a bit more portraiture, 95% decided on the x-t1 with 18-135, the 14mm, 56mm but trying to decide on the 35 or the 27. Has anyone used the 27mm? I have read some great reviews which say its faster to focus then the 35, and obviously a lot smaller and lighter aswell as cheaper, anyone got experience with them both? Is it a good lens? Do fuji actually make a bad lens? Im also fairly certain that the 23mm will just push my budget too far unfortunately.

Sack the 14 off for the Samyang 12mm f2 and put the rest towards the 23 instead of the 27/35.

I've got the 27mm and the 35mm. I like the 27mm but its rarely on a camera (but in my case the 35mm is on even less often) 27mm pics https://www.flickr.com/photos/89667368@N05/sets/72157643069833203/

But I wouldn't sack off the 14mm, it is a superb lens, and compact, something which Adam's other choices are not. Personally I would consider a second body (eg X-E1) so that you are not swapping lenses so often.

The XT-1 with the 18-135 is great when the light good, you say you want to more street and portraiture so i would say miss the 14mm,and say go for the 56mm with the 23mm :)

I'm using an X100S alongside my X-T1, really enjoying the combo. I miss the tilting screen, but everything else about the X100S is fab. Even as a 23mm 1.4 owner I get plenty of use out of it, on a family holiday at the moment and I left the 'big' kit at home and just packed the X100S.

Well I also enjoy landscape and night photography which is why I'm thinking the 14mm or the 12mm samyang. Another option could be to get the 16-55 and 50-140 but not sure if I want that extra bulk at the moment.

Very nice. To be honest I think I could probably push the boat out and get the 14, 23, 56 and the 18-135. I could maybe even leave out the zoom but I do like the convenience of having one

I tried manual lenses (old and new) but they weren't for me :( so for me it was either the Fuji 14mm or Zeiss 12mm? I went for the Fuji at the end and don't regret it. Sharp is the word

To be honest I think I'll be getting the 14 23 56 and 18-135. Should keep the GAS at bay for a while...

I'm probably going to pick up the 14mm and 56mm.

Don't think I'll bother with the 23mm for now given that I've already got the X100T.

Actually. The one thing I'm not 100% on is the 14mm. It's a great little lens, but I'm not sure whether to hold out for the 16mm.

At least until the 100-400 is released... ;)

Not used the X-T for a while, weight wasn't an issue for the Iceland trip and the person who would have loaned me a couple of lenses no longer works in town so I took the D750 since I had the bases covered with that! Will be taking the X-T out to play soon though.

So, the time has come to get a flash system and as I see it I have 2 options,

-Godox V850 and FT16 triggers. Could only get one flash, however I'd like a Godox Wistro in the future so it'd all tie in with the same triggering system. also uses rechargeable lion batteries which recycle faster but you can't pop to a shop to pick one up...

-Yongnuo YN560IV and YN560tx cheaper could possibly afford a second flash, less to faff around with but back to AA batteries. If I get a studio flash/portable flash then I'd be left with two triggering systems potentially.

Or sod it all and buy a 50-230 for the Motorsport season...

Don't get the Godox, buy the Neewer version which is a fair few quid cheaper. :D I do like the 560's though. Very simple to use and works a treat.

Another question re flash. Maybe @G.K.Jnr. could help me out... I have been reading about the Nissin i40 and the fact it does HSS with the Fuji but only on camera. My question is could it be used to trigger other i40's off camera in the same HSS mode? Thanks.

Got my Helios today, it's quite a nice lens, especially to say how mass produced they were and how much they go for nowadays. Need to perform some minor surgery i think though to be able to stop it down although it will probably be used wide open most of the time. Would like to compare sharpness at f2.8 though.

David, Unfortunately I'm unable to answer that m8 as I have never used triggers. I use mine off camera with the Nissin universal lead which works just fine.

Sorry matey it's just something I've never tried.:(

George.

Hmmm.... Does the lead enable HSS off cam? Wouldn't be using triggers with the i40, just wondered if the HSS enabled i40 on cam would fire other i40's off cam with HSS enabled. Will have to try and do some more searching. Thanks.

Anything that can be done with the flash on camera David, can be done with the flash attached to the lead including HSS. I just don't know if it would fire other i40's withh HSS enabled.

In what way Tim? It's manual i believe if that's what you mean?

Thanks George, sounds like it might be a go'er then! I can put up with a cable! Have you got a link to the cable please? Thanks.

Both Amazon & Fleabay have them David for about the same price.

Just tap in "Nissin SC-01" and that should sort it out for you.

Damn! No posts for over 24 hours!!!

Best rectify that then... :D
