The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Allan, just had a text from the missus to say it's arrived and that she has put the battery on charge ready for when i get in tonight. :D She's a keeper, i guess?!

I sold my D7100 to fund the XT1... With the Sigma 18-35 it was a fair old size and i was just leaving it at home. Nothing really wrong with the iq but i didn't really notice a massive difference in high iso performance over my D7000. Infact my Oly e-m10 handed its arse to it with regards to higher iso's.

What she didn't to tell you is that she managed to get it to stay in the charger with the aid of a hammer and turn the socket on at the wall !

The missus or the camera :D

Mustve been faulty.

Lol. In what way? No doubt about the Olympus m4/3 iso capabilities. Clear as day to my eyes.

So... Walked through the door, took the camera out of the bag and slapped on a selection of lenses... I can see this being a fun camera to use if a little slow until i work my way around it all. So far though, so good!

Can see me quickly replacing the 60mm with the 56. The 60 really does focus like a macro lens. Stunning IQ though.

It's nice to get images that good in the first 5 mins of a new camera, superb [emoji3]

In the sense that theres no way an EM10 RAW is cleaner than a D7100 at higher ISO.

Nice pics btw, gotta love Fuji skintones.

Nice set of images David, you'll really love that X-T1 they're one very nice bit of kit m8.(y)

George.

Thanks.

Seriously, the em10 is far in front of Nikon apsc with regards to noise at higher iso's... It just fails in other areas such as tracking and feel (for me). I never had any issues with using auto iso upto 3200 on the Oly. With the D7100 i hated anything over 1000. And the same with my D7000. The lower iso's weren't as good as Nikons though.

The X-T1 is pretty clean and takes another step forwards for iso. The dog above is at iso 1600 i think and I'm pretty impressed with it tbh.

Thanks George. Looking forward to using it over the weekend. :)

Just updated the FW so will see what has changed.

Remember to update lens and camera, just in-case you didn't know. I found the 60mm improved with the last round of updates.

Thanks.

To my eyes the Nikon is a fair bit better, especially detail retention. Looks like the EM10 still has some RAW processing going on. This is 3200 RAW as you go up more the Nikon has a larger edge.

I think while the XT1 ISO is impressive its a little misleading (out around +1/3 stop) and has processing which can make files look a bit muddy toward the top range. The files are lovely though at low to around 3200 ISO. Ive had a lot of Fujis and will more than likely get another.

So I'm extremely tempted to get myself an x-t1 to replace my 60d before the current offers end, thinking of getting the 35mm 1.4 with it. I'm also thinking of getting some old mf lenses and any adapters needed, any thoughts on sharp, good value lenses?

Hmm now in a dilemma, should I buy the refurb graphite in the fuji shop or wait for a normal X-T1 to come available. Whats delivery speed like from the refurb shop on checkout its only offering standard.

Are there any offers on new other than the £100 cash back?

In a lot of photo i take theses days, noise at large iso far outweigh the weight of carrying my large DSLR kit :)

I been temped by that Graphite model, maybe later in the year :)

Guess it depends, my d750 isn't heavy, I'd rather have the ff sensor and blazing af, I would like another Fuji as a second shooter but just spent out on a portable studio flash system.

I'm glad you changed systems anyway @twist ;)

I keep looking at the D750 but it's back to a heavy bag full of gear!

I've lost count tbh mate. Done it so many times now, I do tend to keep buying Fuji though... and Nikon in between moments of madness.

Its a good camera but dont ditch before trying.

There is £100 trade in bonus aswell. And cashbook offers on lenses which increases if you buy more then 1, it's £100 for 1 lens, £300 for 2, £500 for 3 and £700 for 4

Ok... First question... :D

Can i have the image i have just taken to show on the lcd without pressing the 'play' button?

If it's like my x pro 1, then yes, but you need to enable it in the menu. They come un-enabled ( created a new word!) for some reason

Then i would want to add the 24-70mm F2.8 35mm F1.4 etc then the weight would just become to much :)

Lovely set. The 60 is wonderfully sharp.

Thankyou very much! :)

Found a couple of tips upto yet, enabling the Macro function on the camera should help to stop the 60mm from focusing through the whole range which should be handy when i want to do a set of portraits without moving too much. Also found the screen playback jobby. Was under screen set up. (y)
