Try the NEX6's interface and you will think the A7R's interface is amazing. It is a tough one and it is a situation I was in when I had to choose between the 2. I went for the Fuji for mainly 3 reasons, better auto focus with tracking capabilities, Amazing EVF and great lens choice

Hi Richard, If I can muscle in on this conversation, the Fuji X-T1 EVF in my honest opinion is streets ahead of anything else on the market. I've seen nothing from any other manufacturer that even comes close. Not even the EVF in the other Fuji-X cameras match it and they are very good.
 
I agree - the EVF is almost, almost as good as an OVF!
 
I would go as far as to say that the EVF on the X-T1 is better than some "real" OVFs. I was never a fan of EVFs until I had an extended play with an X-T, now I am a very happy owner! It'll be the main camera on my upcoming holiday.
 
Seem very out of the ordinary for the company,and being so closed to the XT-1 launch could start putting people trusting Fuji as a company that doesn't rush out products every 5min :(
 
Rumour sites gotta keep spreadin' them rumours..

Get 1,000 rumours spread and you might be right three times, and then just hope everyone forgets about the other 997..
 
So, at the weekend I shot a wedding for the first time using only the Fuji X series. I only shoot about 8-10 weddings a year and to date my kit bag's contained a Nikon D300, Nikon D700, 28-70 f2.8, 70-200 f2.8, 50 f1.8 and 60mm macro. Lighting came via 2x SB800. Therefore, the first thing that struck me was that I only needed the one bag - the XT1, XPro, lenses (18-55, 55-200, 60 and 18) and flash guns all fitted into the one bag. I did feel that I was missing something as I loaded the car and even more so as I walked to the venue.

The wedding itself was a small affair, held in the one location, formal gardens and hothouse, and I was only there to cover ceremony and a few formal shots afterwards. Space was tight, even smaller than when I did my recce, due to a leaking ceiling, and so the orientation and layout of the space was even more cramped. Outside the sun had come out in spades and so had Joe Public!

Both cameras performed really well on the day and overall I was extremely pleased. The XT1 garnered a few 'mine's bigger than yours' comments from Uncle Bob with his DSLR, and there were a couple of times when I was instinctively reaching for a button or dial that was no longer there. I preferred shooting on the XT1 - the EVF was a dream and its positioning made it feel more like shooting on an SLR. I was a little anxious about battery life but both cameras lasted the 3.5 hours without any warning lights flashing at me.

The definite pros were: its weight, the ability to see exposures in the EVF; the ability to change settings via dials rather than delving into menus; the lack of shutter noise, the quick focusing and accuracy of locking onto moving subjects; the clarity of the lenses - especially the primes but even the 18-55 is beautifully sharp.

The cons - I will call them quirks as they were not huge issues - were: the size (I did get some odd looks and comments); the size again (navigating the back and finding buttons much closer together than I had been used to); the occasional focus hunt especially in low light where multiple subjects were close together; SD cards are small and do not seem as robust as CF cards.

Not once during the day did I find myself pining for my Nikon. The one thing I wish I had was a wider lens, especially during the ceremony where space had been reduced and everyone seemed to be in each other's laps! Of the day, it was this section I was most disappointed with; nothing to do with the camera but more to do with the space I was offered and not having a lens wide enough to deal with it. I would have had the same issue had I have still been using my D700.

I am currently working on the images and that brings me to my biggest gripe - the speed it takes for Lightroom to download the RAW files! I will pop up a link as soon as possible but don't like to share pics until the B&G have seen them.

Interesting and especially that soon. One of the reasons I moved to the Fuji brand is the way I was impressed by their product support. Did I think that this would last when I sold my Nikons? No. Does that mean I will stick for Fuji forever? No.

When I bought the XT-1, I bought it for what it was and not for what it was going to be. If Fuji decided to update the camera with new firmwares then that is a bonus IMO.
 
Just pulled the trigger on one from the Refurb Shop. Body only, down to £809.00 using the Payapl code. Looks as if I am 10mins late for the 2.00 pm cut off for delivery tomorrow, will now have to wait until Thursday.
 
Just had a long talk with Fuji UK,they say they have heard nothing about a new model,their is talk of it coming out in a different color :)

I loved my XP1 apart from the EVF and manual focusing using legacy lenses. I hope the newer and better EVF will improve on my only downers on the XP1.

Chris had a nice talk with a Fuji rep. He asked him about some of the rumors I’ve spread in the last weeks/months, and here are his answers:

- XF 18-135: The rep said it will come „next week“ (Fujirumros says June 16th)
- X30 coming in not so distant future (Fujirumors says this summer)
- XF 16mm would be a „good idea“ (Fujirumors says a 16mm 1.4 will come)
- XF 120-400 “sounds about right” (Fujirumors said it back in February here)
- XF 35mm f1.4 mkII will come after the lens selection has been completed, so probably 2016 (Fujirumors has no idea when it will be announced.)
- X100S, X-E2, X-Pro1 and X-T1 will get a firmware update soon (Fujirumors is working on this one ;-)).

Just bagged an X-T1 + 18-55 from there as well. Nice to see the PayPal discount code still working to get a healthy reduction. I've had an X100S refurb from thembefore and the service was excellent, although for some reason I wasn't given the option for next day delivery this time. Shame, as I'd really like it for the weekend.
 
I have just got myself one too with the 18-55mm and a 35mm. Cameras have come a long way since I brought my 500d. Next decision is either the 23mm or 58mm. Can anyone recommend a third party battery?

The Payapl code makes a difference. I was going to buy from Panamoz, but hopefully I never have a problem, but, if I do,I would rather deal with a UK company. Although I believe Panamoz have excellent customer service.

It will probably go out for dispatch today and hopefully you will receive it tomorrow (Friday). I ordered mine (Tuesday) 14.10hrs with 14.00hrs being the cut off otherwise I would have received it yesterday (Wednesday). From the dispatch note I will have it today instead.

I have bought the xpro ones from Amazon for my XP1and have found them as good as the originals. I believe it's the same battery used for XP & XT , but please check.

It will be nice to see what the superzoom will be, 200mm is too short for the current lens line up. If it is 120-400mm I can see it be very expensive, better start saving.

I use the xpro as well and they are really good. Got a couple from Amazon when they were selling them at £8 each

I have got the 55-200mm,i fine that about as long as i need,but it would be nice to see the super zoom :)

I had the 55-200mm and sold for the 50-230mm to try and gain a little reach. I am home allday and I would like to catch the smaller birds that frequent our garden. I have tried legacy lenses with my XP1 and found it difficult to focus using the EVF. I am hoping that the XT1 will be better for manual focusing until the superzoom comes out.

I sold all my Fuji stuff to go to M4/3 for the reach, but when I went to try the OMD & GX7 they just didn't feel right in my hand and I decided to stick with Fuji. Due to my disabilities I didn't fancy going back to a DSLR.
 
I havnt tried manual focusing yet of mine but i hear its very good,i dont think the XP1 was ever design for using longer lens.
I think you will enjoy the XT-1.

Currently got Dave's XT1 sat beside me, and am just editing a few pics from our little venture into the land of biting insects last night. Very pleased with the results, like having my S5 back but with improved resolution and noise performance (and a lot smaller!)

I like that lens too, and the XT1 to which it's attached. (and the 35mm and the 55-200)

I also like the A7r which I am trying as a possible swap.

I feel a bit like an Aldi advert really!! :exit:
