The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Well i guess the way I shoot it doesn't matter too much, I tend to shoot wide open and let my camera control ISO and Shutter speed. The only thing I would change with the dial is the ISO so to keep the shutter speed high enough. With the Canon it is a 2 button process and I got it down to a tee. I need to find out if I can assign one of the button to bring up ISO or something.

Noticed MPB have sold a lot of Fuji glass recently, been on the look out for a mint 23 1.4 and look at their site daily, anything decent sells within a couple of hours.

Another "Excellent" set of images Sir, nothing more to be said.(y)

"You should be shooting F1 for us" :D

George.

Many thanks George.

My CV is in the post my friend ;)

Knowing you guys have been shooting motorsport with the Fuji gear a lot longer than most i know do any of your guys or yourself use back button focus on the X-T2? i find the button placement a pain compared to the Canons so just cant use it on the Fuji.

There's always WEX

Ive got af and ae buttons as back focus and the front fn button. Try the front button, it actually works quite well. Index on the shutter and middle finger on the front fn.

I think I may add a bit of sugru to the back buttons because I keep missing the damn things, that's why I set both back buttons for panic situations! The front is working very well for me though.

You should keep an eye on the Classifieds - I sold one a few days ago - might have a 23f2 for sale soon if you're interested

Many thanks David, will set it up and give it a go :-)

I've noticed that myself, was keeping an eye out for anything good

Not sure whether this is old news, but are any of you going to be tempted by the trade in bonus?
£200 bonus on X-T2 and X-Pro2, £80 on X-T20 and £100 on X100F.

Yes I got this bonus on the XT2

Also got the grip for £149.50 at the same time.

It was one of the things that got me to get an X-T2 a few months back - the trade in bonus included my old F65. Since LCE gave me a very reasonable £25 for it on top of the Fuji £200, it would have been worth anyone else buying the F65 off them and trading it in straight away!

Many thanks George.

We all set our units up differently Sir, some do use BBF others don't. I personally don't as at the moment I still prefer to work fully manual with regards to focus, exposure, etc etc. But I have been playing around trying out BBF etc and must admit I quite like it, and as it's something I've never used before on any camera it's not too difficult for me to adapt as there's nothing else I have to compare it to if that makes sense.(y)

"Your pictures are the only CV you'd need":D

Lensesforhire have X-T 1 and X-Pro 1 but no 2s (yet). Might be worth giving them a call and seeing if they have any plans for the newer bodies. @StewartR .

Throwing it out there, stirring the pot.

Fuji XT-2 vs A7II - Thoughts?

I've got to say, I keep thinking about selling both Canon and Fuji kits and just going all in with Sony. I like the size of the Fuji and the FF of the Canon, so it kind of makes sense to look at Sony. I like the idea of adapting manual lenses to keep the size down as well if needed.

I don't particularly want 46MP though, and last time I looked AF was better on the R. So I'll wait and see what the A7mk3 (or whatever it'll be called) performs like. All the reports of all round slow performance worries me as well.

I keep meaning to have a look at a speed booster on the Fuji but haven't got round to it.

A bit of abstract car photography from me, nothing special, taken around 7am this morning, at the 10mm end of the XF10-24mm for effect, I don't normally shoot this stuff, good fun though!

Love the black and white images from the X-T2,reminds me of pictures my late Dad took of me and days spent with him in his darkroom developing and printing film.

X-T2 with the fabulous 90mm f2 and my youngest son who actually ventured outside while my eldest hogged the X-Box One.

Had a nice morning waiting for a lovely red sunrise, that never happened. Decided to take a couple of the locals anyway.

Stunning! Love the tones in the first, and that gorgeous blue and sparkly bokeh in the second. Great pose too, they never do that for me. :(

That t-rex looks crazy sharp, and kinda 3 dimensional!

Lovely captures. The second is my favourite [emoji3]

Thanks both(y)

There was at least 4 pairs performing courtship dances on the lake. The sparkly bokeh is actually feathers catching the sunlight, the lake was covered in them.

A technical question for @Mr Perceptive
Two shots taken one after the other from the same place. You know where it is....FUJI8366.jpg FUJI8367.jpg

The first one was with the 23mm at f14. The second was with the 14mm at f22.
Both shots processed identically.
The sun in the first comes out as a starburst, but in the second it is more of a blob. I would have expected f22 to have given a more pronounced star burst. Is there a reason why f14 on the 23mm is more noticeable? Is there some different arrangement with the aperture blades between the two lenses? Or is there some other technical reason for the apparently poorer performance form the 14mm?

Your expert technical knowledge is welcome, but don't invoice me. You'll get a bacon barmie, and that's all!

It does depend on focal length, blade size, shape and number. However I would hazard a guess that this example is down to diffraction. Had you tried the 23mm at f22 it would have been quite similar.

Take a shot at each f-sto for each lens and you'll see the starburst narrow down, until it peaks at f11ish, then it'l start to spread due to diffraction until at f22 where I imagine it will be pretty blobby again.
