A couple from a pregnancy shoot today. Shot in RAW, changed camera profile to Pro Neg Standard and PP'd from there...

Both shot with X-T2 and 90mm F2 lens. Fantastic lens!

Sadly, they look **** on here, they are sharper on flickr :D
Really nice images (y)

Hi there @tijuana taxi
Seems strange not being open on a Sunday but then that's the world of academe for you!
Thanks for trying but don't go our of your way on my behalf.
I'm busy watching Geoff Lynne's ELO at present. Yes....I'm an old man living on his memories.

The dreams of a man in his old age
Are the deeds of a youth in his prime.

No problem, next time I'm in town will have another look, kind of interested myself what Syd produced.

Nothing wrong liking these old bands, last gig I went to was Big Country when they played Cambridge three or so years ago

I've been shooting a remembrance day crossfit today and inevitably took my D750 as the main camera, but also took the XT1 with 18-55mm in case I wanted any wide angle shots, which I did. I have to say I'm really impressed with the way the 18-55mm renders. I took some wide angle shots (18mm) of a large part of the training area and the depth of the image and the way each person 'pops' even though it's a large DOF shot is superb. It's the closest thing to Leica I've shot with. Obviously I'm not saying it's in the league of Leica, but I can see similarities with the way it renders. Really impressed :)

Ahh right, now I get you. Ignore my post above then. But RAW will always look washed out and soft compared to jpeg with no processing by it's very nature. It's this way with my D750, and any other camera I've used (y)

Yeah I think it is more so I'm still comparing the RAFs to D800 Raws, which isn't really fair. But at the same time, I'm not saying they're terrible by any means. The jpegs just pop more towards them, and even after a brief PP booster sometimes. I am still very much in experimental mode with this camera though :)

snap with me.

Just been looking trough Fuji site just seen that there not as many shutter speed or ISO speed options on the dial am I missing somthing?

On the shutter speed dial on top are they they speed we get or can we adjust them

Shutter dial has full stops, if you want to adjust by thirds then you need to use the control dial to 'fine tune'. TBH if I'm using A priority, Shutter Priority or manual I only adjust via full stops and let the auto variable(s) change by smaller increments if they choose to.

For shooting the likes of motorsposts or wildlife, I'm guessing my only option is the XF100-400mm along with a 1.4 TC ?

I've a XF55-200mm but don't believe it's long enough, any ideas please... (?)

Depends how close you are ;) I've shot both motorsports and wildlife with a 70-200 on FF, in fact at Donington I favoured the 24-120 and 70-200 over the 150-600. For general birding though you tend to need as much reach as you can.

I've seen the 50-140 (with or without the 1.4x TC) used for motorsport with great results.

Thanks for the replies... But I don't wanna buy the likes of the 50-140mm and find out it's too short (length wise) after a while.

Focal length for motorsport is entirely a style choice, so it depends how you like to shoot, there is no right answer. Most will tell you you will need 400mm, but that's like somebody telling you you can only shoot a portrait at 85mm.

I found the 100-400 too long even at a wasteland like Silverstone, the 50-140 (or 55-200) is bang on for me, slightly quicker AF than the 100-400 too.

Thanks Chris, yes I appreciate your detailed answer etc.......so does the Fuji 1.4 TC only work with both the 50-140 + 100-400 lenses and not the 55-200 would you know?

I'm not sure which one I'd choose now if I was making a purchase ?

The 55-200 doesn't work with the TC, only the other 2 zooms. The 50-140 will only give you just about 200 [196mm to be precise] with the TC anyway, at F4

The only advantage to the 50-140 is if you plan to use it a lot without the TC, to have that constant 2.8. That, and it's weather resistant.

XT2 with kit lens 18-55
Grip
35mm f2

That what I narrowed it down to for now. But long zoom think it be 55-200

For the higher, electronic shutter, speeds you need to adjust them on the front or rear dial wheel.

But if we are talking 35mm FF terms the standard 50-140mm equates to 75-210mm without the TC and with the 1.4x TC it'll be 105-294mm..... surely that's good enough?

For those who use Lightroom CC do you have any issues with X-T2 RAW files? I mean with the camera profiles - when I import files it says the profile has been applied automatically (for vignetting and CA). Does LR also apply lens distortion correction automatically? If I try to do this manually, there are only a few lenses/cameras in the list.

Cheers

No problems. It's all automatic. And to prevent the "flat looking file" syndrome, I get LR to apply a preset automatically on import, which I can change later on if need be. I personally prefer Astia.

Thanks - I was just a bit worried since I'm sued to seeing the image un-distort when you click the lens correction button :)

Are we talking X-T1 or 2? It's the back dial on my T2.(n)
Think it's swappable according to user preference.

You only need to set a lens profile when using a fully manual lens, such as a Samyang. Since the lens does not transmit any information through to the body.

Good to know! Thanks.(y)

So where in the menu can you change it?
Spanner/Button Dial Setting/Command Dial Setting

Well, this is my first pic with my new X-T2. I have to say, I really like this camera, from the build and ergonomics, to the files.

This is a life-size model of a Neanderthal at the Natural History Museum.

Peter, For motor sports the 100-400mm (150-600mm ish equiv') should be all you'll need, that's the lens I have used for F1. As for wildlife I can't help much there as its not my forte.(y)
