The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Ok I have a question, I know you all talk about other Fuji cameras but honestly although slightly interested, I haven't taken too much of it in (sorry) as I've been very happy with my XT3, but... I am thinking of a smaller camera for light travelling. What would you suggest? Ideally I like to have the ability to zoom so not sure if a fixed prime lens would be quite what I want.

To buck against the title of the thread, if you want a small, near compact, camera with a fixed zoom lens then you could do one
hell of a lost worse than getting a Panasonic LX100, either MkI or II.

It's an amazing camera with the best sensor available in the compact market.

Thanks so much, it gives me somewhere to start looking. I am keen on seeing the April announcement though as in no great hurry yet.

I've updated the Firmware on my X-H2S
Took a few bursts yesterday. More testing required.
This is the only shot of a burst of 18 in focus. Lens used 50-140 f2.8
Shooting at 40FPS
It may be that I was approaching the minimum focus distance.
Processed in PureRaw ISO 8000

Better results here. This from a burst of 25 with 16 in sharp focus. Shooting at 40FPS
Same lens and ISO. Also processed in PureRaw

I'm still impressed with the camera. I was shooting one handed with the camera held just above the ground. FlippyFlappyScreenThingy out.
I pressed the shutter as soon as I framed the dog and totally relied on the AF-C and Subject detection to do it's thing.

Definitely sharper in Flickr

There isn't really any "close focus distance" on the 50-140, sometimes I think I have to be in another postcode it's that poor. However, other than that, it's a bloody wonderful lens. I use it with my close focus rings for flowers & insects in the garden.

You won't get significantly smaller with a zoom on the Fuji system. At best you can shave the top lump off the body by going for an X-Ex, but you'll still have the lens.

If you want proper small - the Sony rx100 (any generation) is hard to beat.

I think fuji are still doing a cash back this week but I think it ends on Sunday.
Thanks for your response. I contacted the store direct and it's unlikely. on a more positive note they did tell me they have an event day next month which will have on the day offers. Trouble is nothing that I want has Cashback, probably for the best really.

Not been feeling great this weekend but since the X-H2 goes back tomorrow I had to put more time on the Viltrox 75mm. I have to say, other than the AF being quite slow which puts it out for any fast action ( I think, maybe better on the X-H2s ), I don't have a bad thing to say about this lens. Viltrox have a winner here.

Looks great! Doesn't look like it suffers from the usual viltrox colour fringing.

What a beautiful dog!
I'm doing some Fringer adapter testing for Canon EF lenses on Fuji GFX system, so far so good :)

MIght be better in this thread?

Beautiful Bullfinch sitting on the feeder in the garden yesterday. Amazingly this was shot handheld through the window, with the T3, 100-400 (+ the 1.4TC) at just 1/350 sec, which with my shaky hands, is astonishing.....

What a beauty. Never seen one myself.

He's become a bit of a regular now. I only put the feeders back out on Friday as I've been worried about Avian Flu (and helping to spread it). I had a small ground feeder that I've modified to hang from my feeder post, so the smaller ground feeding birds can now get to the food without the Crows, Blackbirds and Pigeons chasing them off. Had a Blackcap today as well but no camera handy.

Found a battery with some power and blew the dust off one the cameras last weekend and took a snap I like.
Fuji XE-3 + 100-400 lens.

Not sure when but have decided to go back to the lightweight OM-DE-M5 III so will be selling the X-T5 once I'm up and about. Have been looking for cameras really lightweight and the X-T5 with lens is not it sadly, will keep the X-S10 though.
Sorry to hear that Dave. I’m assuming it’s a health related decision. Mate, concentrate on being as well as you can. Wishing you well Bro.

OK seriously considering an X-H2 and keeping the Viltrox. Debating kit vs body only so is the 16-80/4 lens worth having? Anyone got a view on this lens compared to the 16-55/2.8?

I had this dilemma when buying my kit, but deciding between the 16-80 and 18-55. I went with the 18-55 in the end, the 16-80 doesn't seem that well reviewed. If you can get the 16-55 f2.8 then it's a no brainer to go with that lens, it seems to be better in every way apart from size and weight, and even then it's not so much of a difference when compared with the 16-80. You lose a bit of reach but I'd say the higher image quality and extra stop of light more than make up for that. Even the lack of IS doesn't matter if you're buying a newer Fuji body as they have IBIS

I think the cashback offer still on 16-55

Hope you're on the mend buddy...

Spent the weekend in Madrid - took the x100v & TCL (which didn’t even go on the camera).

Found a JPG recipe by some chap called Reggie Ballesteros which I’d thought I’d try and have actually found the JPG’s look good using it.

Definitely have to shoot more JPG for the fun of it.

Lovely city Madrid, much prefer it to Paris or Barcelona.

Why do Spanish women always look so classy? Even my Mrs commented on it when we were last there.

Sorry to hear this, mate. But your health comes first, and at least you`re a bit used to the Oly kit ;)

Stay strong (y)

As far as I know, the 16-80 isn`t on the 40mp list from Fuji. Although a bit odd that they`re selling is as a kit :headbang:
