The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Sorry to hear about your letter Dave. I hope it’s not bringing you down.

Not feeling to great at the moment mate, the letter said I need to have an appointment for another set of tests, as on my xray it is showing a mass on my lung. Just got to wait for the appointment now and fingers crossed, staying in today as legs feel like jelly which is down to big weight loss and lack of muscle.

Our thoughts are with you Dave
This..

Stay positive as best you can Dave - try not beat yourself up.

Thinking about you….

The Fuji UK shop is now showing the XH2 as a stock item but OUT OF STOCK.
This usually indicates that within one week the camera will be in general release.

Hi all

has anyone used the XF 50-140 f/2.8 R LM OIS WR lens on their X-T30?

am I right in thinking that due to the crop it’s actually closer to 75-210 but still f2.8

Yes (well on my X-T2), it is a good lens! I borrowed one on the Fuji free lens rental scheme. Now I want to buy one...

Correct, the crop factor makes it a 75-210mm full frame equivalent. As for the f2.8 - It's complicated...

Basically, as far as light gathering goes, 2.8 is 2.8 - Both will gather the same amount of light regardless of sensor size, exposure settings would be the same on both cameras.

The discussion of how it affects bokeh often gets heated and misunderstood. I won't get into it here but if you're thinking in lens equivalents, then you typically need a faster lens on crop to get the same amount of bokeh when the two images are framed the same. If you were to use the same focal length and aperture on both cameras, you'd find that if you digitally cropped the full frame down to the same field of view as the crop sensor, the images would be identical - that's why it's called a crop sensor.

I’m not much of a case type. But I found myself parking my H2S on the ground/Tarmac last weekend. Thoughts turn to protection. Anyone got any favourite brand of half case they’d like to recommend ?

Not a half case but I have the Smallrig L bracket fitted to mine. Excellent bottom plate protection and built in Arca mount, I got mine off Amazon and did a small review on it.

I have Kaza half cases for my X-H1 and X-T3 (X-T3 sold so case soon for sale) and they are lovely handmade cases but I now prefer to use L brackets.

There are 'leather' cases on Amazon but having bought one I returned it as it looked awful and was made out of something that had never been near a cow.

Played with an X-H2 on the Fuji stand at the weekend. With the 33/1.4 on it. Very impressed with the speed and stickiness of the eye-af on it. Very very fast.

Coming to Fuji ….

Had a play with the Sony version at the show, great build quality, nice piece of kit.

I`ve never had much luck with Tamron lenses... 150-600 (Nikon) was ok ish, but not really that happy with the results. 15-30 (also Nikon), that broke after a day, so sent that back for a refund.
Maybe just me, but am staying clear ;)

I think they’ve improved massively, I’ve got the new 28-75 G2 (Sony) and it’s superb in every way.

Sony is the largest shareholder in Tamron.

I wouldn’t have dreamed of owning one a few years ago but todays products are really very good.

Thanks. Went for Smallrig L bracket.

If I didn't already have the Fuji 100-400 I'd be very interested in this. It seems very well reviewed in Sony-land and I'd imagine since the Fuji sensor is only using the centre of the image circle on this lens it will give really good image quality. Already up for pre-order at £1399

HELP!!!! I've been trying for about a week to get the Fuji app to work on my Google pixel phone . I've got the 2 paired but It looses connection before I even get the chance to import even one photo from the camera to the phone . Anyone got any tips or pointers ?

Is the camera on the latest firmware?

Have you tried downloading it again - the older version was utter rubbish, and just like you are saying but I find the newer one works pretty well..

Yeah I think September 29th is the "target release date"

Finally plucked up the courage to pick up the camera again. 5 exposures blended, T3 & XF10-24. With a tripod obviously, as my hands wouldn't hold it that still!!

Love the moody sky in this great shot Steve.
