The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Did anyone else get Black Friday black out and order anything good?

I upgraded (well, in my eyes it’s an upgrade) from my XT-30 with kit lens to XT-3 and a 90mm F2.

I shoot a mixture of Food/Products, some portraits and events... Looking forward to it as we have two events to shoot next week now we’re back in tier 2.

Thanks @bumper for being such a help. Really appreciate it.

Great choice, you’ll love it Richard (y)
The 90mm is an amazing lens, miss mine.
Hope they serve you well in your business, enjoy the events

Not entirely sure I’ve made the right decision on bundle for camera body - bought from park camera with a free grip and 32 gb memory card for £899. 90mm was purchased separately.

XT3 is going on Wex with the 18-55mm lens for 1099 (-10% discount code) taking it down to 994 with delivery.

Not sure if I should of paid the extra 100ish quid and got another lens.. although, I haven’t really looked into the 18-55...

Why is there so much choice [emoji23][emoji28]

I also may have purchased the camera twice by mistake. The order didn’t look like it went through.. but it did.. twice.. so I’ll be on the phone in the morning [emoji23]

I’ll try that one on my next order, see if my wife falls for it :ROFLMAO:

you could’ve sold the 18-55 for way more than £100 on here!

I’ve had another look - it’s a refurb. Spoke to Wex, likely an aesthetics issue and was sent back. Assuming I can still get a couple hundred for the 18-55 lens?

Stay with the new and get the 2 year warranty then, especially for a work camera.

From now on bumper I’ll ask questions first then act later..

I’ve already cancelled my order with Park and ordered the refurb. Refurb has a 12 month warranty. Not an issue if I really need to cancel again and switch over. I’ve not had any experience with refurbs, usually always buy new..

It’s not a major issue is it.
Refurb has 1 year warranty plus you can sell the lens to recoup money back. I think you may enjoy the 18-55 anyway.

I’ve had a few refurbished but from Fuji. They’re as new, one of my F’s is a refurbished and it’s like a brand new camera but in a refurbished box and less warranty than new.

About half the gear I buy is 'refurb' and I've not had any issues over the years. The cameras have been low shutter count (20-30) and immaculate.

I’ll stick with it then. I’ve made my refurbished bed so now I need to lie in it.

All in it was 998. Delivery tomorrow. I think you might be right. The only other lens I have is on the XT-30, 15-45mm. The partner has the 16-55 XF... so maybe I just switch them over.. He won’t know. He doesn’t even know what the little red XF means [emoji23]

'Dashing' - Richard;

The refurb Fooji gear is always 100% minty/as new condition when it arrives, over the years I've bought a few refurb items and they arrive virtually as brand new condition, you can't tell the difference between new...!! I'm sure you'll not be disappointed.

Regards;
Peter

Thanks for the reassurance @Dryce & @macvisual

I guess I’ll find out tomorrow. [emoji23]

Now. Next purchase. A flash to go on my new XT-3.

Any suggestions? Please don’t let this one be too much of a minefield too [emoji24][emoji23]

Godox AD-200 re flash suggestions...

If you need a quality leather wrist strap for your XT3 I'd personally recommend 'Footprint', a chap Ivor makes them by hand in the UK, probably sell for around £20 via eBay. I use them on both my XP1 & XH1 bodies for years now - simply fabulous....!

Cheers;
Peter

If you need this to work on camera then the AD200 will be difficult to use unless you have a bracket and trigger arrangement, and it'll be heavy too. For off camera it is a great option. I have the Godox V1F as my main on camera flash, but the 860ii F is also great, I have the V350F also which is nice and small if you are carrying it around but need a bit of fill. You won't go wrong with Godox, and you can build the system and it all operates seamlessly.

Another vote for Godox.

It's a flexible system. The TT350, V350, TT685, V860, V1 can all act both as wireless contrlllers and be controlled wirelesly. So you can start with one and then add others.

The AD200 is a bigger off camera flash unit. The Basic AD200 doesn't support HSS mode in Fuji, the newer AD200 Pro does.

The TT685, V860, and V1 are about the same power. TT685 takes 4 AA cells whereas the V860 and V1 use Li-ion batteries. The V1 has a round hed which makes it easier to attach accessory modifiers and reportedly is a bit easier to use when controlling other flash units remotely. V1 is often on discount about £176 from the online Godox shop. TT685 is sometimes as low as £86 on Amazon. V860 is around £160.

While I had some time on my hands this morning. I had an idea ;)

H1 16-55 and a fair bit of PS

Who are we? by Paulie-W, on Flickr

"Cracking" portrait style Fujigraph Mate, very creative idea, with a good punchy mono presentation.

It`s an idea that has been floating around in my head for a while, and this morning, it came to be (at last) ;)

Mine certainly does.

Then I sit here humbly corrected - moreover a bit annoyed and miserable - as I avoided going with a discounted AD200 a while back because I was told I needed the Pro version.:mad:
That’s a shame. I’ve never felt the need for the ‘extra features’ of the pro version.

It looks gorgeous. Where is it?
Cofete beach, Fuerteventura.

"This is the perfect place to escape the crowds for a moment of peace, as this 12-mile stretch of sand is one of the quieter and more isolated beaches. The Jandia Mountains, which reach heights of 800 metres, provide a beautiful backdrop to this wild and rugged part of the coastline, which has been named among the most beautiful in Europe".

“New” camera arrived today. Popped over to the park with the other half so we could both have a play.. I actually quite like the 18-55. So I think I’ll just sell the XT-30 with its lens.

Annnnyway, out of interest, do you guys use the built in filters? Which is your favourite? I’m a velvia fan [emoji85]

My once pristine white dog came for an explore too:

The cutest little shrooms I’ve ever seen... (this one does have a few quick edits.. I liked the greens in it)

early Christmas for someone:p

I use most of the film sims and like using the recipes from Fuji weekly etc.. capture one and Lightroom let you shoot raw and play with the sims after so it’s easy to choose then.

classic chrome and acros are my most used for JPEG’s. Never used sepia, velvia has been okay for some autumn shots but on others they’ve been too saturated. It’s all part of the fun playing around with film sims.
