The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

I like this a lot - not often you see an image and you really have to study it to work out what it is. Saying that, I can see the stairs but still not sure where they are - in a landslide or chasm? Or up the side of a cliff?
It's the Dinorwig Quarry. I think the stairs gave access to the lower level in the image from the upper, not in shot, this is fairly unusual as iron ladders are more commonly seen. There's a fair drop below, most galleries are 60 to 80 feet high, and there's a couple below this. You'd hope there was originally a guard rail.

Two views from the top, one down the 'stairs' and one with a mad fish eye lens to show the scale, and thats @mickledore in the fish eye shot!!!

I'm swaying to press the button on a 100V as I've just returned my ricoh gr3.

The ricoh lens seemed sharper than the x100f that I had in the past but I just found it too small for my hands. I know close up the lens has improved but is it sharper in general than the f.

Few questions can I use my old jjc adapter and bw filter to make it weather resistant.

Do I go black or silver I'm swaying towards silver and its hipster!!

Definitely Silver!

Black

I've got the black v and silver f. The black just blends in and doesn't get spotted as much as the silver.

My V had the jjc adapter and hoya pro filter until my weather kit came. It worked just fine. It's rained almost everyday since I've had it and been out with it! The x70 hood and adpter works nicely too, also fits the fuji filter from the weather kit. The weather kit was on offer with my V but there's no way I'd pay £100 for it. The x70 adapter and hood kit was less than £20 and a good filter will be about £20. Think Fuji are pulling our pants down a bit on these.

It is a new silver too, very much like the materials and finish on a MacBook Air/Pro - it’s very nice.

Take a look at the seagull crop on my post on the previous page - straight out of camera jpg. Don’t remember that kind of detail/sharpness on either of my Fs (y) :fuji:

sorted;)

Silver is for the older man trying to stay hip and young. Trying to be down with the kids, eh grandad?
Look at me, look at me.................Is that an old film camera mister?

Black is for the more discerning gentleman who likes to travel amongst the sheep, like a wolf on the hunt.
Screen out, shooting from the hip, snap, snap, snap. Captured that moment and nobody noticed, because my little black V is a ninja
No questions, like I wasn't ever there. As a bonus you don't have to talk to the plebs about your camera.
( just ignore the big red camera bag:ROFLMAO: )

+1 for silver!

One of the reasons I like Fuji is their retro look with all the dials etc, and they look even cooler in silver.

Oof that hurts  I have a Bessa R3a that I use a lot still, and that's totally black :p

SILVER for style and appearance BLACK for using.

Silver just looks so much nicer but having had silver and black Fuji cameras in the past and with my eyes not being as good as they once were, BLACK is easier to see the dial settings. The contrast between black and white is much easier to see compared to the silver.

Any thoughts on 3rd party batteries? I've happily used Xpro ones in my Olympus gear without noticing any performance loss to the genuine ones. Are there decent brands for Fuji, or ones to avoid?

I upgraded to a fuji x-t100 a few months ago which I absolutely love. What are peoples opinions on the film simulations the cameras have? I have only stuck to standard so far but thought monochrome would be more useful for shots which I would otherwise intend to convert to b&w.

Excellent. I really like the look of the X-T100 and X-T200. I keep thinking they'd make a great landscape camera for being with being quite compact but also the raw files are easier to deal with.

Anyway, I digress!

Obviously it's personal but I'm a huge fan of Fujichrome. I like to lower the saturation slightly and increase the contrast a little too.

Also a big fan of acros though I like to boost the whites a little.

They all look good though and have a place. Velvia maybe the hardest to use but can look great at times.

I only ever shoot Raw, but I do like to use the Classic Chrome sim in LR with my own twist/tweaks to it regular enough. The other I use frequent is Pro Neg standard, rarely use the others unless it's for a very specific image.

If anybody fancies the Lakes in Autumn...

I've got an Xpro white battery, and I've not noticed it being any worse than the Fuji ones. I might just not have used it enough to notice a difference, though! I think the white ones are only like £15 or so, plus delivery. Although they're NP-W126 not 126S, but it shouldn't matter much as I think the 'S' ones just have different electronics so the camera can more accurately display the remaining battery.

You could just do what I did, buy an extra Fuji camera. Then you get an extra battery with it  The more cameras you buy, the more batteries you'll have :D

thanks for that Keith,im loving my like new £220 XT1 with 35mm F2 second time round.cheers

Its one of my favorite cameras too, that's a nice combination. The 35 F2 is growing on me, not got to use it too much but I think it has that legit pick up and go fun factor and the quality is excellent.

I have a white Xpro that is great for the X-T1, but if I put it in the X-T2 or X-T3 I get the incorrect battery/restricted function warning. I have a couple of Baxxtar Reds, and a couple of DotFoto batteries that work fine with the X-T2 and 3 though, without any warnings.

Oh really? I've been using my Xpro white in my X-T2 and X100F with no issues at all! How weird o_O

Yeah, odd!
Maybe it's older, and more tired (although it performs perfectly well in the X-T1), as I assume it's the power that the camera detects. To be perfectly fair it works fine in the others, it's just that the warning is irritating.

Would like to have a mess around with macro, what do you think of these, never used theses things before.

They work just fine, can be a little stiff to mount but over time they loosen up - AF works well and IQ is not affected as there's no glass element in the tubes.

I had a set for the X-T1 and used them often with the 35 1.4 at the time for macro
