The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Wow, there is some really awesome photography put up since I looked last night - diverse and really nice shots

Did anyone get this email from Fuji connect? Great service but depending on what you request, your refundable deposit could be very high [emoji6]IMG_20200410_101359.jpeg

Yeah, just got that email. I'm staying well away from it. I don't need anymore temptation to buy stuff.... :p

'Light And Dark' piccie for the weekly challenge. Struggled a bit with this one but saw these white things growing on a tree when dog walking the other day. I take the X-E1 with me on the walks so took a quick snap or two.

My entry for the light and dark challenge.

I have to say thanks to @ianmarsh for his post of the Macbook akin to Martin Botvidsson's shot.

Having watched his video (and liking his relaxed demeanour) I thought I would give it a shot.

No flash to hand for me so I had to make do with the laptop light and some ambient light camera left. After that it was a slight tidy up in post.
Now I could have cloned the Intel sticker but I left it as I like that tiny splash of colour

Very nice. I got one of those when my flash failed to fire. I like how the light from the screen lights the ground beyond the computer in your shot. I don't have a nice table/sheet to lie things on so had to hide mine letting it go black but I like your approach more. I'm enjoying Botvidsson's videos a lot so glad to have spread the word.

“Excellent“ Fujigraph, and right on the challenge theme.

George.

Bit of lockdown fun with PS :)

Very nice creative Fujigraph, great idea & very amusing.

“Don’t let your family see the shot they might want to keep you in there” ;):)

Tell me about it, mate. I`ve had enough in the garden now ...

I would willingly offer to pick one of you folk up to come with me on my Covid Effort delivery travels (if it were allowed) instead of the absolute moron I've had to take with me all week. He's done nothing but winge all week, so much so he came very close to doing some unrehearsed sky diving yesterday.

I've been up around the Scottish isles most of the week and have seen some absolutely stunning scenery. Obviously unable to get any photography in as its just a drop and then off again to the next location. If I were a landscape photographer I sure as hell would want to get back to most of those places some time.

Today was a bit more local, just a trip down to the west coast that should have been just one drop at Lands End Airport but ended up with four drops on the Isles of Scilly. Anyway I'm gonna take a day or two off now as I'm absolutely exhausted and choppy needs a routine maintenance check.

Good on you George. Top Man

Guys, just a very quick Q, made a thread in the computer section but unlikely to be seen by many [think it's the first time I've ventured in there tbh] - Just wondering what kinda spec PC you use for your processing, I'm looking at desktops right now but there's just an overwhelming amount of options. Just the cpu/gpu side of things is what I want a general idea on - looking at an i5 6500 3.2Ghz machine with a GTX 1060 3GB GPU [I will maybe do some casual gaming] - everything else seems fine [SSD boot, extra HDD, only 8GB RAM but I would double that] , just wondering if that i5 is sufficient for the likes of LR

If only, George. If only

I think your main issue would be ram. My pc is old spec amd 3+ main board: 8350fx black cpu: gtx 960 gpu: no SSD: but 32gb ram. Can run steam cod wow, so suits me fine :)

LR + PS on SSD
LR catalog on SSD
LR catalog backup on HDD
Images on HDD

would be my preference btw

Yeah I was thinking this, RAM + SSD = more important than the cpu/Gpu, as anything I would be looking at will have fairly recent [at least 2-4 yr old tech tops] versions on that front. I would play games like the Witcher 3 or Tomb Raider, adventure types rather than fast paced FPS. The one I had ear-marked has just been withdrawn for no apparent reason, but have a bunch I'm eyeing up. There's some really nice looking DIY builds [from reputable sellers] but they'll not have the extra HDD or won't have wi-fi card etc - but will already have the SSD and 16GB RAM + decent cards. Probably the better route and add what I need over time, just need to check the money jar - cheers lads

Here's one from my daily exercise a few days ago, an abstract close up of a pebble wall just round the corner from my house ...

I will start off by apologising but this shielding is driving me insane and I feel the only way to ease my mind is to pick up the camera and bombard you guys!

Composite images has been something I have always wanted to try but being honest I have always been slightly fearful of layer masks and brushing. Now is the time to bury that fear.
I chose a simple object and only stacked 5 images in PS.
I think I need to finesse the light transition between layers using the gradient tool but for the meantime I am happy with my first ever try.

If anyone has any tips for doing composite images I am all ears

Always amazed at the stunning detail that you obtain with this Nikon macro lens.
Another excellent piece of work George (y)

I shot this snap with the "TEXTURE" challenge in mind, but realised it is also suitable for the "LIGHT & DARK" challenge. So there you go one snap, two challenges completed "VOILA". :):)

Just a simple macro/close up type Fujigraph taken in my home studio of a sharpened pencil point emphasising the texture, using a 105mm Macro Lens with lighting provided by three Studio Flash Heads each with a largish Soft box fitted and against a Black Paper background.

X-H1, 105mm Micro Nikkor (D) Lens, 1/250th @ F8, ISO-200, Multi Studio Flash.
