The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Great stuff Graham. I know what you mean, landscape & I have a bit of a love/hate relationship at times. Since we moved it's still in the love arena, for now...

Cheers Steve I thought getting older would mean I find it easier getting up in the mornings but found the opposite is the case. Depends a lot what area you live in, if it was the lakes for example think I might find it a struggle not to go out.

Thank you kindly fellow snapper, I sure do appreciated your reply.

“Good suggestion and probably possible, but although I like to think that I’m reasonable at PP work, that I’m afraid is a bit beyond me at the moment”

Yeah I agree, It wouldn`t be an easy task.Bloody shadows ... Maybe you could try one of your office chairs on a green BG ;)

Probably come up many times but this thread moves too quickly for me...what's the go-to flash system for Fuji these days? I don't need anything too fancy, just wireless capability for a single off camera flash.

Godox are very popular these days, with good reason. Solid, work well, cheap! Starting with the TT350F & trigger for just over £100, not the most powerful flash but it's very neat and tidy and suited to these smaller bodies. You can go up in size and power from there, they have a good range or units. The TT350 can be used as master for further Godox units, and the trigger will also work for them too. https://www.amazon.co.uk/TT350F-Spe..._1_24?keywords=Godox+F&qid=1572985205&sr=8-24

Hi Chris;

I'm not that well up on flash, the Godox is excellent I believe. I use a cheap'ish Yongnuo YN560 III wireless flash which seems fine for basic fill-in stuff.

Here's a basic shot using a fill-in flash with the YN560 III;

Using an ancient YN-560 here myself - the original non LCD panel one. Still works just fine. I had the Godox TT350 for m43 though, and keep meaning to grab one for the XH1, as it's such a neat and light little thing - be great for macro. The Yongnuos are a bit huge when on the hot shoe too :D

A Fuji shooter friend of mine Kevin Wyllie 'KSG Photography' uses Godox AD200 and the bigger output 360 version with excellent effect.

I'll maybe look at that system myself in the near future.

The inevitable Black Friday double cashback, is a very persuasive argument (that will be £360 on an X100F), in all honesty I expect the next gen X100 camera only to be an incremental upgrade (sensor and EVF probably), the F is a very perfect package

I’ve just had delivered today a mint x100f from camera Jungle for £640 with the 20% off code and 1800 shutter count. It’s my third x100f and this time I’m not selling it, it takes great photos and a camera that you want to take with you. It slows you down to think more about your photos especially with the fixed lens.

I am hoping to get a deal on an X-Pro 1 as @macvisual images are making me want to stick a lens n one and have it with me all the time.

I had your first one Andy - sold it - bought another - sold it and now after two years or so, thinking about getting another. Crazy eh?

I have also been tempted by an X-Pro1 (or possibly an X-E1) due to this thread.

Go for it - you get superb results from either

I think the "lens" is due an upgrade. Will be quite an Internet uproar if they stick with the same.

I've just ordered some wireless triggers from Amazon. However the other day I was playing around with the little pop up flash that comes with the camera, using that to trigger a little Nissin i40 in slave mode off camera. I also have a basic optical trigger which I've used with an old Sigma 560 unit into a brolly.

I'm quickly learning that simple OCF isn't that difficult these days and plan to put a lightweight portable system together for a project I have planned.

Sorry Rick for your fathers passing, a shocking bloody disease!! The NHS are simply amazing.

My medical Team of experts advised me a stem-cell transplant in Jan 2018, my older brother was my blood donor, a 50/50 blood match which is called a Haploidentical transplant, quite a complicated medical procedure, I'm the luckiest guy alive, there's so far four of us alive from a Ward of twelve Leukemia patients.....not great percentages.....a hateful disease.

I embrace and love life every single day!

Peter

Peter,

Your last sentence is one which most, if not all, of those of us who have survived that terrible disease can understand.

And the relatives of those that have suffered.

The "tactile" nature of the Fuji bodies, the fact that a lot of the controls are external, a bit like old school bodies, and the brilliant output have given me back my camera mojo. With my Canon gear I felt I was using because I had to, spent all that money so I'd better use it. Now I just love picking up a camera bag every time we go out. It's a revelation! :fuji:
