So, from the new toys thread, this arrived during the week in a bit of a mess...

A little daunting but hey - where's the fun in easy, right? The first obvious issue was the bellows. Completely shot to pieces and a decision to be made. Will I ever be able to find a replacement Russian leather bellows in the right colour, light-tight, and priced sensibly? Well, no tbh, so I installed a bellows taken from a dead quarter plate I had here and so far looking a little better once everything went back together.

The Trichro shutter was not working, no way no how but I assumed that such a simple thing would be fairly easy to sort. The problem was that it appeared to be reversed - the shutter always open, fire it and it momentarily closes and then opens again. Now, I know we shoot in negative but that's just not going to work. No info online at all, nothing. A couple of pics of the outer and that's it. So, I had to get in there with a pen and paper and try to figure out what was *supposed* to happen and then what actually *was* happening. After a couple hours I had it figured - so simple as to be embarrassing - a small pin was the wrong side of a spring, sounds obvious now but the thing looked like it was in the right place so I ignored it. Whatever, I now have an assembled, light tight camera with a working shutter - and the curb chain arrived to so that got fitted. I need smaller jump rings and maybe the chain is (way) too long but all that's left for me to do is tart tidy the body up a bit with some metal polish and it's a done job.

Oh, note the fitting of a remote cable, took a while to figure what was supposed to go in the holder - and I had to file one side of the cable down to get a snug fit but it works and looks good :D

Fantastic. What a man. Well done. Can't wait to what you get out of it.

Arthur you clearly have the patience of a saint for this sort of job. Nice work and job well done and the Ensign will ride again, looking forward to seeing some shots through it.
