The Duke still has a way with words...

Curious to know if he swears all the time in the vicinity of the Queen!

I don't know, they come over here, marry our princesses, have loads of kids, live off the state and then moan about our photographers!
If he doesn't like it he should f off back to Greece!

You mean marry our German princesses? ;)

I missed this. What did he say?

"Just take the f*****g photograph!"

Much obliged, Nod. So he couldn't think of anything original to say either ...

What is it about censorship.

You would think we lived in a military state. You Tube acts as judge jury and executioner for something that is probably quite common language nowadays on the street and making such a comment needs to be seen in context. If someone at Buck House demanded this, why should YT comply. It's a matter of record of a factual event. End of.

Luckily the Internet allows us to circumvent You Tube's censorship (at whoevers request) and make your own judgement about this small and unimportant event. We all expect faux pas from the DofE, it's the entertainment value from the Royal Family we all pay for.

Censoring it just makes it go viral.

He's just a rude old man.
and, says what he thinks sometimes, isn't always politically correct but thats the age they grew up in. Thing is, the F word is used many times a night on british TV, especially after 9pm. Why should we be shocked by it now? Double standards, or is it the person who said it?

I know I've thought (or said) exactly the same, waiting for the woman to complete her 27 part manoeuvre to get into a parking space when there was a huge gap for 6 cars just 30 yards away, but she wanted the closest, or that person inthe queue in front of you that insists on paying for something with the contents of their copper jar...

George 6th was born at Sandringham (york cottage)
Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon (queen mum) was born either in her parents' Westminster home at Belgrave Mansions, Grosvenor Gardens, or in a horse-drawn ambulance on the way to a hospital.[9] Other possible locations include Forbes House in Ham, London, the home of her maternal grandmother, Louisa Scott.[10] Her birth was registered at Hitchin, Hertfordshire,[11] near the Strathmores' English country house, St Paul's Walden Bury, which was also given as her birthplace in the census the following year.[12] She was christened there on 23 September 1900, in the local parish church, All Saints, and her godparents included her paternal aunt Lady Maud Bowes-Lyon and cousin Venetia James.[13] (from wikipedia)

So that puts both the parents as British citizens, in fact both were registered as such strangely enough, therefore the queen is...

She may have german descendents, but then who doesn't have soem foreign descendent in their family at somepoint?

It's just a word and nothing to be scared of.

Skippy to me was the bush kangaroo? Any relevance?

So how german is the queen?

To put it in perspective, the Queen’s family have lived in Britain for many centuries. She speaks English as her first language and French fluently. Not German. She was born in Bruton Street, Mayfair. She grew up largely at 145 Piccadilly, Richmond Park, and Windsor Great Park. She served in the war as a mechanic and driver with the Women’s Auxiliary Territorial Service. She is unostentatious, supremely diplomatic, and often seen laughing. She rides without a hat, enjoys playing the Nintendo WII, and is fond of racing pigeons. Most especially of all, she is known throughout the world for her keen love of dogs and horses.

How much more British could HM be? Seriously?

Jeez my initial German comment was off the cuff...humorous...(and one quite commonly used) hence the wink.

He's just a rude old man.

Who was fed up with being kept standing around for over 20 minutes by a rude young photographer?

And, the house of Windsor was renamed as such in 1917 when it was realised that Saxe-Coburg and Gotha was rather too Germanic for the king (GV) since we were at war with that country at the time... Similarly, the Mountbatten family decided that Battenberg was a little Teutonic as well!

I would have loved it if the photographer turned back to him and said "Just who the f**k do you think you're talking to?".

Or maybe even a less aggressive version but more confident "You'll shut up and do as you're told" or something.

Honestly, what would have happened? (Besides the glib responses of "You'd disappear" or "You'll mysteriously have an accident in a french tunnel")...Seriously, has anyone answered back to a high profile royal like that?

I always look forward to the Duke's utterances:

re Chinese at Edinburgh University 'slanty eyed, yellow basXXXXs'

re Duke of York's house 'it looks like a tart's bedroom'

To a sea cadet 'Do you work in a strip club?'

'Kill a cat and save a bird'

re BgotT winners 2009 'Are you all from one family?'

Kenya 1984 'You are a woman aren't you?'

To Scottish driving instructor ' How do you keep the natives off the booze long enough to pass the test?'

I could go on...

Who cares, the old chap is that old he probably doesn`t care nor ever has, cared, what he says. We all know old people like that, what is the big issue about it.

To David Walliams after he swam the channel.... "Are there any other nutters in your family?"

As in King? He's not. ;)

He's the Queen's Consort. It's not a technicality.
And as close as we will get is a King after Liz dies.
And then another....and then another!

Oh flipping heck, you are now doing the same thing you objected against as per your German link comment. You are missing the important point, where is the porno :p

Might as well display this doodle done a few months ago (the Royal couple visited the area to open a new Spitfire museum).

As for Prince Philip's way with his words, that is certainly the old hard working labourer inside him straining to burst forth.

He's got one simple job - behave in a manner which reflects well on his family and his adopted country. He fails.

I disagree. If in his position he can not speak as he pleases then there is no hope for anyone else. Nope he is setting the right example in my opinion. Too many people about these days who make a living out of telling others how to behave and live their lives. Besides its not a job.
