Ok well, I wouldnt say Nikon and Canon are under huge threat to be honest, well not for most of their hobbyist market anyway.

But the specs and customisation of this stuff is phenominal.

268mp!!!! (186x56 mm sensor), shooting 24 frames per second????

I'd say the entry level "brain" shooting 5mp (24fps though) is the only one priced at a point to hurt the majority of canon/nikons market, and 5mp isnt enough to cut it in still photography print....

That 3d cam is some serious tech, I cant even get my head around what it does.

I think it could have a strong place in the studio/advertising/fashion/etc. markets

Try carrying 2 around:shake::shake:

Thats crazy!

Before the conpany went to press with it, I reckon the projects codename would have to had been "Optimus Prime"!

I assume that's been designed for the stealthy, undercover photographer?

Crazy, it supports canon AND nikon mounts. I wonder if it supports AF and metering?

I think the medium format market leaders will be a little edgy in their boots though. Hasselblad/Mamaya.

The 35mm full frame version, shoots 24mp at 30fps. No need to actually shoot stills anymore... I can see how they think theyve reinvented the market though.

at $55k just for the brain, they can keep it lol

Cant see anybody ditching a DSLR for that monstrosity, it may be customisable, but its HOOOOOOGE lol

Im pretty sure you could set up a version that was much more managable than the ones pictured, the "brain " itself is fairly small, you'd just plug a lens on the front and view finder on the back.

Certainly not subtle though.....

Be good for a terrorist though, completely inconspicuous.

This was big when it was launched

but it didn't take long to get to this with far more power and resources

Check out the DB-110 if you want the ultimate digital camera... might look a bit silly hung round your neck on a strap though :D

Red have revolutionized film making recently, they're releasing a 5k camera (and I'm not on about cost) for ultra high definition film making....this has annoyed a lot of special effects artists as they'll have to up their game a hell of a lot!!

Owned by by the same guy who owns Rayban sunglasses I believe :)

A friend of mine who is a uni lecturer and international film maker has had a go on one of these and i nearly fell asleep standing up when he was trying to explain how good it was.

It is always god to have new products which are really different. Hopefully it will make Canon & Nikon move their game on further.

yes, RED have been pushing the HD envelope for a little while now. all the rage in TV at the moment. can capture above slr's at viewing fps, extremely clear and excellent DoF too...
oh and you can mount slr lenses onto them and even control them by iphone now...sort of alright!
