can anyone help, when i'm viewing a post i am getting the red x where some of the pictures should be, the thing is it does'ent happen all of the time, so i don't know why it only happens in some photos and not others, this makes it a real pain in the a**e when i'm trying to view a series of photos, has anybody got any ideas how to rectify this, i'm running AVG anti virus if this helps with any suggestions, thanks in advance

What firewall are you running?

Try disabling it temporarily and see if the problem goes away

it's the one which came with windows xp,as i hav'ent added anything myself, but if i do disable it will i risk getting viruses on my PC ?

try a different browser? If you use firefox, you don't get a red X

You just get a blank line where the image should be :D

A firewall won't stop you from getting viruses.

If it's any help we use Opera and I pretty much NEVER get the x problem......

i guess theres always one, if you hav'ent got anything constructive to say mate, best not to say anything

It depends on the thread. Could you link to some threads where you're getting the red X?

It's entirely possible that the thread has passed by a while ago, and the original source of the image is no longer there.

If it's a more recent thread then it could point to another problem (For example Norton Internet Security, are you using it?)

thanks marcel,

it was a thread posted by photostar 1 entitled "first outing with the 50mm f/1.8" quite recent i believe, there where about 4 x,s showing, but further down the thread there is another photo posted by CT which shows up ok, also i'm not running norton, i am using AVG anti virus, thanks again

I'm using firefox and there are no images in the first post of that thread now. Next time you get missing pictures post in that thread and if others see them OK you know you have a problem.
