Ok this may have been answered before but I cant find the answer so here goes
Assuming that we have two cameras and each has a 50mm lens mounted, one being F1.8 and the other a F1.4 pointed at the same subject with the same lighting conditions opened to it's widest setting how much faster in terms of shutter speed would the F1.4 be than the F1.8
Thanks in advance

2/3rds of a stop, or thereabouts.

Thanks guys that points me in the right direction of which lens to get.

That's confusing - the thread titles says:

"The Diffrence Between F1.8 and F2.8"

and the 1st post says:

"how much faster in terms of shutter speed would the F1.4 be than the F1.8"

F1.4 to F2 = 1 stop difference. F2 to F2.8 = 1 stop difference.

Ooops sorry for the confusion I got myself in a bit of a tizz but got the answer I wanted.

Confused now.. which is correct, title or post? :)

Then so was my answer.

0.7 stops to be precise.

Though there's a lot of vignetting at those apertures and different lenses can vary a bit, so prolly a bit less than that in practise as chances are the f/1.4 lens will have more.
