As some of you may be aware, my other passion is meteorology (as well as cartoon drawing), and I thought it's high time I put together my own personal weather forecast web site . . .

. . . and # ta-daaaah #, here it is!

I think the whole point of it is that it saves you having to hunt around the web for today's forecast and I try and keep things nice and simple on my web page - just the one click and it's all there.
The "Cloud Master" concept is what I'm called when a local DJ for a radio breakfast show reads out my forecast.

The web site idea has been running for a week so it's still all new and experimental but it seems to be working out okay so far. Naturally there may be occasions when I may be pushed for time and won't be able to update it . . . or until the novelty wears off. :lol: :D :nuts:

Any chance you could arrange for some sunshine on Saturday as some friends of mine are getting married!

A nice opening response to this thread! At least my forecast came out true (I don't cheat by looking at the telly and web site forecasts, instead I use raw data and satellite images, along with 30-odd years of experience, to work out the forecast).

Good news. Yes, I can manage that. It really doesn't look at all bad for Southern England on Saturday with sunny spells and variable cloud cover. By then winds will have fallen light so it will tend to feel warm in any sunshine.

Just as well as I've got a mini-photo shoot on that day too (doing an outdoors family portrait for a friend)!

PS: Sorry for the duplicate post - a slip of the finger had somehow tried to send this message twice over!

For some reason today I couldn't copy what I've written for one other website and paste it into my own weather web site - not even the photo - using Internet Explorer and I didn't have the time to type it up all over again. But when I tried the copy and pasting thing using the Chrome browser later on in the evening, that worked!
The forecast is now available but it's a little too late in the day for it now! :gag: :D
 
Its been horrendous with us all day. River not too bad at Kendal but in Ingleton its as high as its been for a while. I doubt you would have got around the waterfalls without getting your feet very wet so your double rain drops over us were spot on.
 
I don't think I have seen accurate forecast for essex since I moved here... It seems to change to completely opposite overnight...

you seem to have it right though :thumbs:

:) Cheers! By the looks of things, rainfall over the North West of England for so far in September has been well above average, while at the same time the far South East is still being much drier than normal.
Just hope that wet trend for your neck of the woods doesn't continue into the rest of Autumn where we don't get to see a repeat of last year's events (think of Cumbria).

Oh, and my forecasts turning out to be accurate helped :D (bearing in mind I never use the usual media outputs to make my forecast, instead I refer to the plethora of raw data and satellite images straight from the horses mouth - the interweb).

WEATHER WARNING: A lot of rain is now showing up on the radar as I type this on Saturday evening. It is currently over the English Channel and are moving into the central Southern half of England, however there are further pulses of rain trailing all the way back into the Atlantic and the lot are all moving in a North East direction towards the UK.
Areas most affected will be Wales, South West of England, Southern and Central England and the South East.
There will be flooding as 50 mm or more of rain falls over the next three days at least.

Hi again. Thought I'd give this one more cheeky little bump back up. :D Especially since it is still going strong as it gets updated at 6 am during the working week, but at around 9 am weekends.

Thought the "comfort thought" was a good one made me chuckle - as my OH keeps asking me to hang out the washing, now I have NO excuse to say that its gonna rain later :lol:

I don't use any other site for my daily forecast now, just yours. :thumbs:
Always very accurate.

Just wish I could save the bookmark on my iPhone 'desktop' rather than having to open Safari, then go into bookmarks etc......
 
You've certainly got it right here in Essex today.Your forecast is appreciated. I'm off to the North York Moors for a holiday starting saturday so I will be watching your site closely to see what we can expect.

Early STORM WARNING for England and Wales. Valid for Monday 8th November.

On Monday, the center of a rapidly deepening low pressure is expected to cross right over Kent. Expect storm force winds and squally rain over England and Wales for most of the day.
Winds will be between 50 mph inland to up to 70 mph along the Channel coast. Expect some structural damage and fallen trees as a result.

I was just going to look for this thread to bump it up! I'd heard there's some poo weather brewing tomorrow, and wondered if you had any info Ian!!

Hi Andy! Glad you're a fan of my weather stuff. :D

Indeed we're still on course to have a wet 'n' wild time of it tomorrow. Strong winds and squally rain is already now over Scotland as I type this at 10 pm Sunday.
Then the Western and Southern flank of the UK will get to experience the worse of the weather tomorrow morning with 40 to 50 mph winds with gusts of up to 65 mph in exposed areas. Again it will be accompanied with squally rain. The East won't be as windy but it will be very blowy with winds being up to 40 mph.
Then it all should ease back later on in the afternoon as this low pressure center trundles into France.

But expect a cold raw wet day over England on Tuesday as winds come in from the east.

The Cloud Master forecast web site will be updated at around 6 am tomorrow morning so it will be worth checking that out for more up to date details: http://thecloudmaster.webs.com

Very strong winds yesterday morning and rain. Very heavy rain this morning. Already had a few flashes and claps of thunder this morning too.

:thumbs: Cheers Andy! It did look like the Hampshire area was going to get a deluge today.
Enjoy the brief respite from it all tomorrow as things becomes brighter and calmer (but rather cold!) before yet another depression system come steaming in from the Altantic on Thursday bringing another round of strong wind and persistent rain across the UK.
And I've got Thursday and Friday off so I might get some coastal waves photography on!

We actually got a right hammering yesterday morning. There's a small river just opposite us, which was higher than I have ever seen it.
It spilled out into the road, and caused a HUGE puddle. Never seen this before:

Excellent captures, Andy! Thanks for showing those in here, might be worth emailing them to your local paper. Going by yesterday's weather reports around the UK, at that same time Portsmouth registered no rain at all on that 24 hours period.

However, the drying process will be a very slow one as the South - well, all parts of the UK come to think of it - get to have more rain and high winds tomorrow. Autumn rolls on in true style!

Hi Robin. Yep, and plenty of it.

All the signs are there for a cold snap to work it's way towards the UK as we go into next week.

It does look like once the wind start to come in from the north east tomorrow, temperatures will slowly creep down over the weekend but not by much.

It isn't until Tuesday when we really get to feel the true effects of that north east wind as it taps into cold air over Scandinavia (where it's around -20 C there already) and bring some of that towards the UK.

So, indeed, by Tuesday night onwards, sleet and snow showers will start to pepper the eastern side of England and Scotland but amounts will be small, with the more signficant falls likely to occur over all high grounds (The Pennines, Dartmoor, Chilterns, Cotswold, etc).

That kind of thing looks set to last for the rest of next week and into next weekend.

And under any clear skies, temperatures will fall down to -5 C during the night, so expect a hard frost. Somewhere might even touch -10 C by the end of next week.

So, indeed, winter is on it's way. And boy, it's going to be quite a shock to the system. :eek: :eek: :eek:
