The Canon T80

So, as I've mentioned in the past, I was given a canon t80 along with the autofocus 50mm 1.8.

I finally laid my hands on some decent batteries to try (I'd used some cheap nasties that hadn't worked, but they subsequently wouldn't power the tv remote either)

Now, I put the batteries in and it starts making a "chkik" noise, over and over every second or so, but nothing else happens.
Any ideas? Is it screwed?

I'd be surprised if anyone else owns a T80 to help.
 
Well Mads you might learn something from here http://www.mir.SPAM/rb/photography/companies/canon/fdresources/SLRs/canont80/ the chkik noise might be the lens...can you listen to where the noise is coming from as the T70 auto winds to frame one even though there is no film in it, and your T80 might be trying to do the same thing but is faulty.
 
It makes the noise even without the lens attached, so the auto wind sounds plausible... though it doesn't actually take up the film when its in there

Make sure the film leader is a bit farther passed the red stripe..if it doesn't take the film to frame one, then the camera is a door stop as it's not worth repairing even if you could find someone that would do it.
 
Door stop, dont be sacriligious... its a talking point for the mantle piece :lol:

:lol: or you could use some parts for spares for a T70 that you always wanted even if it's just screws ;)
BTW check that there there is no corrosion in the battery compartment as it might not be getting the full battery power.
 
Much as I like the look of the T70, I prefer the T90, looks wise, though I heard some horror stories about it.

Battery compartment is clean.

I have two T70s and they are cameras that I trust...with the T90 there can be a problem with the magnets or rubbers nearby deteriorating causing shutter problems causing EEE.......but naturally you hear more about the ones that are faulty compared to the ones that are still working Ok, and it would interesting to see a chart for breakdowns against numbers made. Anyway the way I look at it is:- if you bought one from a reliable seller for say £52 but after two years goes Kaput, it's only 50p a week to use a very good camera....my T90 is working perfectly and up to now has cost me 40p a week to use.

After much tinkering and swearing... the living room door is now held properly open.

Sodding camera :lol:
