....,Two main lenses I have are the 17-55 IS and the New 70-300L.Have only had the 70 since I believe December so the Weather has not been fantastic.

So what are your first impressions of the 70-300L as it's a lens I'm very interested in?

Just realised that there is a cunning way of counting the shutter actuations. They are recorded for each battery, so add up the actuations listed on your battery and robert's a close relative!

Nice one....

Just waiting for my budget to increase and will be getting a 7D :D.

Hi,

Try and make it Brief.
When I bought the 7D I knew I would need a couple of New Lenses so bought the Canon 17-55 IS USM. I also needed a Telephoto.(Having owned the Black bodied Canon 70-300 IS which had the Range I wanted in a Zoom).

As Luck would have it Canon brought out the L version which I managed to purchase at a Decent price although has come Further down in Price. (You Win some You Lose some).

Main Points.

1. The Build Quality is Obvious as well as the Weight Increase.
2. Girth has Increased (Width).
3. Length has Decreased.
4. Barrel does not Rotate so Great for Polarising and ND Screw in filters.
5. Fits on the Camera in the Smaller of the Two Canon Bags I have,so Great for Travelling.
6. Works Fast with the new Focus System on the 7D.
7. I find it Sharper and More Detailed in the Shots I have taken so far.

People have their own Ideas on this Lens but I am a Fair Weather Shooter, and Not an Avid Pro so I find it Great for my needs.

I think Canon has made it for the likes of the 7D and the New 60D and with the Crop Sensor it is more like a 480 zoom.

Hope that has Explained something.

Who knows in the Future might even go for the New 200-400L

Thanks Richard.

I also look forward to the release of the 200-400L.

Loving the screen! It's so much easier to tell what's in focus than with the 40d.

Some quality photos on here  7D rules!! :)

Hi all. I'm a Sony a300 user at the mo and have grown out of it, I have quite a lot of lenses and accessories but thinking of upgrading.although I knew this day would come I want to do it once and do it right (money is not unlimited) so would you say 7d is a good step in the right direction???
Cheers.

What do you shoot?

what do you want to shoot?

What do you feel is holding you back with the Sony?

The 7d is a cracking camera, but it depends what you want a new camera for as to which is the right path....

Sorry 5D 

Hi,
Just an Observation lot of Landscape,Portrait shots in your Albums.
The 7D more of a Action camera (Sports Wildlife etc).

That's not to say you do not do these kinds of Shots.

Regards.

Just looked at the first batch of photos from mine today. So many more pictures are in focus and using the peripheral af points is a joy. The pictures seem sharp and have good colours, even just as straight raw to jpeg conversions. And high iso is superb. Happy with 3200 every time and even 12800 works for snaps.

*fidgets slightly* I'm days away from getting mine!!
