Just watched the film in full for the first time.

The other cuts are happy. The Directors Cut was probably one of the few disturbing/sad endings I've ever seen but it at least explained a bit more.
 
Not the version with the 'birth' scene ending which I've just watched.

Looks like there a 3 versions of the passing in the street ending - passing in the street (both go their way) passing in the street (they speak) and passing in the street (he follows her)

The one I saw last night was the version where he's nasty to her at the birthday party and then they pass in the street and go their own way.

I watched most of it last night, missed the first 20 mins, but I had seen it a long time ago on dvd. I certainly haven't seen that ending or any of the others two where they pass in the street. Good film though, and it's spawned a couple of sequels too, and although I have seen the second I can't remember what happened and I haven't seen the third one. I should now watch them to see what they're like.
 
Donnie Darko is a favourite of mine.
 
Great film (butterfly effect)-didn't like Donnie Darko much- too wierd!
