I dont know if many of you played the fantastic contraption game but this is like the geeky version..

there is a 2000 and 2006 version - download the 06 as you get both.

You have to build bridges and send a train across and see if it collapses. You can view the stresses on the thing youve built to see where its breaking first and improve it etc.

very simple yet quite addictive.

My school had this 'game' installed on the server a few years back and I used to always go on it when I had a free moment :p and then they deleted it and I could never find it on the internet!

Quite fun :D should be working, instead I'm on TP, Facebook and now this!
 
love stuff like this, remember at school, we had to design and build a bridge out of wood and test its strength.

Aargh so addictive :D and quite frustrating at times too.
 
I am stuck on level 7 - got through the others easy as anything, this one is just HARD
 
im not very architecturally minded, this is really hard :D
 
pleeeease someone tell me the best way to finish 3 ive never sucked at a game like this
 
ok, to build pieces, you first need a starting point(the yelow dots) you can only draw the lines a certain length, if you then click the left button, it will draw the line and put another dot you can use to draw lines...

everyone else, diamonds and triangles are the strongest shapes, just remember, because a previously drawn line passes through a newly made joint, it isnt actually joined, you have to delete the line and then redraw it as two pieces, im stuck on 15:( the train doesnt want to go uphil at all
 
ive got to 7 on the old maps but i cant get past 4 on the new ones
 
you need to higlight the area you want to delete then click it...
 
do the old ones first their easier and the train only has to go over once :lol:
 
so im there yet but im interested in this... Can you move the bridge while the train is moving on it? Its weird im a big fan of games and im generally very good at most games but this hurts my brain sometimes :D
 
Dont want to throw any doubt on this but seconds after I went to that link my antivirus software kicked in and quarantined some files infected with bloodhound.exploit.123 - seems to be a trojan thing thats not particulalry harmful but might be worth running a scan if you've downloaded it already?
 
thanks for the heads up, my computer is on deaths door so a trojan is the last thing i need

if i remember correctly, bloodhound is something norton pulls up that isnt actually a virus, but it is iunsure what it is.

AVG was happy with it though
 
ive got to level 10 YAYYYYY :lol: but now the bridge is going to take ages to make :(
 
well, done, this the old or new maps???

i think im stuck on lvl7 new. just cant make the bridge strong enough to hold the weight of the fat ass train.

the problem is, the train wont go up a slope and i cant move the bridge with the trainon up if that makes sense.i might try again soon
 
thats on the old maps BUT... im stuck on 4 new because i cant figure out how to handle the change in height :|

i was hopeful, i cant get no 3 on the new, the thing wonthold the weight of the train
 
its is ridiculously addictive and frustrating though isnt it :)

your going to have to remind me what it looks like im at work right now...
 
no 4, you have to build the track level with the fixed point, then when you click test, it will bend and rest on the terrain.

got 3 done, and 4 now

played this game through college :) well not all the way through.

Might have to pick it up again, was very good + you can download peoples bridge packs and try and do there levels.
 
is that just on the website the packs or do you have a link... not that im nearly finished yet :lol:
 
I hate you guys, I'm a first year engineering student and now I will play instead of getting to 2nd year :( electronics too so this isn't even vaguely useful
